For the love of StarClan, what now? He thought to himself, lashing his tail rather aggressively before standing, and whipping around, his expression an insult all its own. However, though he was not a particularly friendly warrior, Echofall was an empath—he had to be. He couldn’t detect the implications of inflection and had to rely on the subtleties of expressions and emotion. This cat seemed remarkably downtrodden. There was a primary emotion that Echofall detected immediately—loneliness. Much like himself, this cat did not appear to enjoy much courtesy from their clanmates. The Siamese tom sighed heavily, picked up his thrush, and stepped aside, before settling again. He looked the warrior up and down, then dispassionately gestured to his ears with one paw.
“Deaf.” He mouthed simply.
He regarded the cat with guarded curiousity and gestured to him with a paw, shrugging his shoulders upward and raising a brow in a sort of “what’s your problem” question.

➳ Sunpoppy 🥀 Sunpoppy's jaw set hard, his teeth grinding in a semi-conscious apprehensive gesture when he saw the tail-lash and aggressive stance. It would be a new low to get pulled into a brawl in the middle of camp, and he intended on avoiding that, but.. his defensive posture was prepared regardless as if concerned Echofall would take a dishonorable strike.
Another cruel trick of the universe, making this path to the fresh-kill pile appear to be the one of least resistance yet placing a cat who wanted to rip his ears off for that last laugh. Sunpoppy considered himself well versed in the verbal attacks of the world after being on the receiving end of far too many, so he waited for the insults to fill the silence in their weird stand off. The absence of an onslaught didn't relax him.
Sunpoppy wasn't impressed. It was one thing to be a jerk, but the insinuation that he was deaf caused his suspicion to spike, since that sort of mocking was how he expected to be treated. Pretend to be deaf, ignore the freak show, joke about it with your friends later. And he was unclear on why Echofall couldn't speak -- deafness wasn't being mute -- but chalked it up to a half-hearted performance. "Whatever." Sunpoppy wasn't in the mood to make a fool of himself more than he already was. At least the guy got out of the way. As if a wide berth and blunt sarcasm would save him, Sunpoppy muttered while walking past, "Try to refrain from tripping me." He took the most minimal steps possible to lean forward and grab a mouse from the pile, retreating back with a final measuring stare.

Echofall lounged beside the fresh-kill pile, tail twitching idly, observing the other warrior with astute sapphire eyes. This cat was irritable for the sake of hiding an emotion far more detrimental than irritation. The deaf warrior chuffed softly to himself, reminded vaguely of the insecure, defensive kit he had been upon joining ThunderClan. Due to his recent interactions with Gravehound, he had grown gradually less self-conscious about his voice, and cleared his throat a bit, lifting his chin.
“Perhaps...you can...try to...understand—“ Echofall’s voice was...unfortunate. Soft and slightly raspy from disuse, it was a stark contrast to the elegant blue-point warrior’s elegant appearance, “—I am...used to...inconsiderate clanmates...sneaking up on me.” He remarked, his enunciation disjointed and without inflection. He assessed Sunpoppy with guarded sapphire eyes, “You look...as if...” he cleared his throat, struggling to work his way through the sentence, “The whole...world...has inconvenienced...you.” He remarked, though without snark.

Re: ThunderClan Nursery
Eaglekit groomed her tail carefully. She had been rolling around in some dust earlier for fun. She enjoyed drama and fun, but lately things were quite boring.
Lightkit was curled up and was napping. He was tired of all the noise and nonsense.

Re: ThunderClan Clearing
// @ Larkstripe
Lionpaw made no comment at Falconpaw's remark, silently noting the brief flattening of ears and closing of eyes, and the swiftest flash of some unspecified expression. He knew well how a feline acted upon the unexpected manifestation of memories, or even only the cries in one's mind, for he'd experienced the first himself… and had multiple first-feline accounts of the latter, for better or worse.
He also knew not to ask; at least, not yet. Under the cover of darkness was the best place to divulge secrets, not at the center of a bustling camp in broad daylight. Perhaps if they ever grew close enough, he'd know, but for now, he wouldn't probe.
"Blasphemous?" the apprentice mused. "No, not at all. From the perspective of an outsider, it is bizarre. If only they would forget their differences for only a moment, they could conquer the entire forest and drive everyone else out." He shook his head. "There is no difference between the kit of a shadowdweller and one of a thundercat except for the clan name tacked to the end of theirs. I'm not Lionpaw. I'm Lionpaw of ThunderClan, and the second I mention my faction, all the shadowcats in the world will want to slay me. Though, it's way worse for them, the shadowcats. All three other clans would love to have pine-scented tails hanging on display in front of their dens."
Lionpaw paused there. Too dark? Perhaps, but from the hostility he'd witnessed at the most recent Gathering, it wouldn't be false to call the observation truth.
"Are you planning on doing something about it?" the tomcat questioned pointedly, though quietly and not at all accusingly. "Is that where this is leading? You wouldn't bring up such a heavy topic for the sake of small talk, I don't think."
// @ Santafan09
He took that as an affirmative and sat down beside the warrior. "I'm doing alright," Lionpaw replied. The apprentice fell silent for a moment, then suggested, "Hey, wanna go hunting? With leafbare coming soon an' all, we probably need to stock up on fresh-kill."
// @ Holiday Rowan
Always eager to converse with his clanmates, Lionpaw walked over to the first feline he spotted. This time, he caught sight of a queen, and one not much older than him from the scent of it. He'd never spoken to one before, curiously enough; the majority of the thundercat ranks consisted of warriors, kittens, and apprentices; similar to most other clans as far as the abyssinian knew.
"Good morning, Ryebird," the golden-furred tomcat greeted his clanmate amiably. "How are you?"

Re: ThunderClan Apprentices' Den
( @ bmkmb )
Flickerpaw smiled as he looked at his handiwork. Sure, his nest was a bit lopsided and messy, but he had made it on his own, and with only two legs! He would pat himself on the back if he could! As he settled into his nest to test to see if it was even comfortable, he noticed another apprentice nearby,
“Hello!” He meowed cheerily.

Re: ThunderClan Apprentices' Den
// @ Willowfern
Lionpaw noticed the new apprentice and his now-existant nest, and he offered an easy grin to the not-quite-average feline. "Hey, Flickerpaw," the golden-furred tom greeted. "I see you're settling into the den pretty well. How've you liked your new rank so far?"
He recalled his own early apprenticeship filled with an unbelievable amount of confusion. In between fires, leadership troubles, and transitioning from loner to clan cat, no one had wanted to explain much to the then-lost feline. He bet that Flickerpaw would have an easier time understanding instructions, though, since the tom had been born a thundercat.

“I’m settling in quite well, thank you,” Flickerpaw meowed, happy that Lionpaw had returned his greeting, “I can’t wait until my first training lesson!”

"Nervious. I'm a new queen and I've heard new litters are the hardest." Ryebird said begining to pace
