The little tomkit - who was almost 1 moon old - was lumbering around the nursery den. Quite bored he settled down and sat, his little tail brushing the moss and scooping it around. Was this what he'd be doing for the next 5 moons of his life? He didnt have time for that! He wanted to be free, and learn to hunt, and defend his clan. Right now he was just a cold kitten in leafbare. Brr. He glanced around, he didnt see anyone he could cuddle next to. And the cold leafbare winds surely didnt want to take a break and shed some mercy on the poor little kitten.

"Im cold!" he whispered as that was the last proper sentence he said before his teeth started chattering and he started to panic. He'd heard of cats who died because of snow and the cold. It would be cool to see snow, that thought him forget he was cold. Until another gust of wind blew. He would find out what snow was, he was sure he'd see the fluffy blankets the cats had said. "S-Someone g-get m-me w-warm-m" his teeth made lots of scrapping and bumping noises as he was freezing. "H-help m-me!" he meowed loudly. Hopefully catching a cat's attention nearby.

Tulippaw was about to start searching the den to see who was around when a voice sounded nearby. Turning, she spotted Ashpaw settled nearby, looking at her. Tulippaw immediately took note of her appearance. Her fur, despite being fluffy, was sleek and as white as snow; it reminded her of Frostpaw's pelt. And her eyes were stunning. They were blue, standing out against her pelt, and seemed to get a reddish tinge when the light streaming in from the entrance hit them properly. Perhaps she could be a candidate for her friend group. Straightening her posture, Tulippaw smiled charmingly at Ashpaw and purred, "Hello, Ashpaw! I was only thinking about going on a hunting trip. The deputy taught me how to hunt, you know." Tulippaw said the comment with offhanded importance in her perfect tone, something she'd practiced since kithood. "I was thinking of going out with Twilightstar and catching a huge, plump rabbit - a gift for another apprentice." She let her ears lie flat and looked at her paws as if she were guilty. If Ashpaw was to join her friend group, Tulippaw would have to tell her the truth about Badgerpaw eventually. But for now, why not improve her reputation so Ashpaw - and anyone else who overheard - could see how amazing and responsible she was?

"You might've been at the meeting where Twilightstar called me out for being mean to Badgerpaw," the dainty she-cat meowed meekly. "I didn't think I said anything too bad to him - his pelt was sticking all over the place, and he threatened to hit me! - but I might've been a bit harsh. So, I wanted to ask Twilightstar - his mentor - if she could go out with me so I could catch him a rabbit as an apology." Tulippaw glanced up at Ashpaw, curious as to what the fluffy apprentice thought of her words. Won't I seem so mature and responsible? she thought proudly, although she kept her facial expression a bit guilty-looking.

Ashpaw nodded. “Sure,” she meowed,”I do love hunting. Too bad I only know the basics, so you’ll have to teach me.”

Ashpaw was walking around, and overheard a kit freezing his paws off. “I’ll keep you warm,” she promised,”See? Look at how white and fluffy my fur is! It’s like a cloud, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I got Ashcloud as my warrior name.” Ashpaw picked up the small kit and placed him gently in her fluffy, cloud like pelt. “Is that better?” She asked him gently.

The mention of kits instantly getting the newly appointed warrior's attention, Snowybreeze lifted his head quickly, staring with renewed focus towards Twilightstar. Her words stirred a small, uneasy feeling at the pit of his stomach, remembering how Twigkit and Waspkit had both gone missing not too long ago. He wished he could say this was a more recent phenomenon amongst WindClan's newest kits, but even when he'd been a nursery resident himself, Snowybreeze had known kits who had simply vanished, Honeykit and Applekit coming to mind instantly at the thought of disappeared kits. Keeping the kits busy seemed sensible, and while he was sure some of them would balk at the mere idea of having their playtime messed with by having to take lessons, keeping the lessons optional seemed like a rather good compromise. If anything, it would at least give the queens some well earned rest while their own kits were off learning, and it would certainly give them a head start over other apprentices, especially those from other clans.

Finishing her announcement by calling both the deputy and her son to sit with her, Snowybreeze twitched his tail in thought as other cats quickly volunteered to help out with lessons. Not wanting to interrupt or drown out the other cats volunteering, the large tom remained sitting while lifting himself on his two hindlegs before pawing the air before him, a silent sign to let the leader know he was happy to volunteer himself too. True he had just been appointed as a warrior himself, potentially having less to offer than a more seasoned warrior, but even he could pass down a few basics to kits! Practicing stalking and crouching techniques had been most of his earlier apprenticeship, and despite his clumsiness, he had not been terrible at battle training, Squirrelear even praising him once he'd finally gotten new moves down. If he wasn't a good match for the role of educator, well... he could always serve as a stand-in badger for whoever got chosen to teach battle basics, and he would be the best stand-in badger WindClan had seen yet.

Saffronkit looked up from the nursery. Kits could learn stuff now too?! Yay!! The little nerd jumped up and padded closer to the Breezerock. That. Sounded. So. Cool!! At the mention of the only instructor that was for sure, the dork turned to give Cowpaw a conspiracious look and grin. This was going to be great!!

"I could teach introduction to predators and self defense, Twilightstar." Aspenstrike offered from her seat beside her daughter, who was still giving everyone the silent treatment out of rebellion.

Leaf'River shook out his pelt, he waited in the Moor for his apprentice to show up. His short stubby tail stood high as he rested on his haunches. Excitement coursed thru him as this was his first apprentice.

Badgerpaw couldn't help but be a little confused, sure, teaching all this stuff to kits was important, but wasn't that what apprenticeship was for? It was a little odd, but he wouldn't question Twilightstar's decision if it would be beneficial to the Clan. In fact, was it something apprentices could do as well? It'd be very interesting!

"Uh- Twilightstar... I know you said this would be the curriculum for the kits, but could apprentices learn this too? As some sort of benefit that doesn't have to be a requirement? Like the Clan Etiquette and Clan History. Not all apprentices were born in WindClan, myself included... I think it'd be good for everyone younger than twelve moons to learn!"

With a relieved sigh, the speckled molly nodded, following after Maplepaw without a thought. Although she did halt a moment later, suddenly realizing something. She had rudely disturbed Maplepaw's alone-time and was now asking favors from her, of all things! Quickening her step to catch up with her denmate, Berrypaw's mind scrambled for a way to apologize. "I'm so sorry- For ruining your time alone and asking you to take me back to camp ... You don't have to do it, it's okay."

“Hush Berrypaw, there’s no reason to apologize. I needed to head back anyway. We’ll just sneak through the dirtplace and we have to be quiet,” Maplepaw shrugged. Her blue eyes flicked from side to side to make sure nobody was around.
