She questioned with a hint of suspicion in her voice. All those moons of teasing from some of her peers about her eyesight had taken a toll on her friendliness towards other clanmates. "..Ah. Sunmist," She licked the fur on her chest to hide her embarrassment, "There's so many of us that I tend to lose track of names." The moment her gaze returned to him, she caught sight of his smile and immediately looked away.
As the two sat in a comfortable silence, Duskwing relished in the sounds of the forest. A soft sigh escaped from her as she closed her eye. "It gets overwhelming at times. Especially with the abundance of noisy kits and apprentices running around." The she-cat couldn't help but laugh a little at the idea of kits causing chaos back at camp, but the laugh didn't seem to last as she caught herself feeling more vulnerable than usual. Why was she feeling so.. Friendly all of a sudden? She mentally shuddered and shook away the thought.

((You're fine! My turn to apologize now - had quite the weekend!))
Sunmist noted the suspicion in the molly's tone, and wondered what could have happened to make her question him. He guessed that the issue, whatever it was, had less to do with him specifically and more to do with Duskwing's past, but he wasn't the type to pry. At least, he wasn't nosy with cats he wasn't well acquainted with. Instead of questioning her, he settled with a lighthearted joke for his response. "Yes, a friendly chat - you know, it's when two cats sit down and talk about anything from the weather to clan news?" He gave a cheesy grin, and then an understanding nod. "I know how that is. And we're only growing larger, too! Of course, that's good for Shadowclan... but not so good on our memories." Taking note of her uncomfortable response to his smile, the tom took to looking at their surroundings rather than directly at his clanmate, hoping to ease some of her tension.
At the mention of noisy kits, Sunmist couldn't help but laugh along. Great Starclan, for a serious cat he was sure doing a lot of smiling and laughing lately! Serious doesn't have to mean grumpy, he reminded himself, and so kept with his pleasant demeanor. "We do have a rowdy group right now," he agreed, a slight laugh still twisting into his words, though his laughter was more subdued now that Duskwing had stopped laughing herself. "That's the best part about kits, though. I miss the days where it was acceptable to do nothing but play all day!" Of course, Sunmist cared a lot for Starclan and took his responsibilities very seriously - they were incredibly important to the tom - but that didn't mean he didn't miss the good old days. Despite his constant need for some sort of job to occupy his time, the large cat did wish he was still capable of doing nothing at all, even if it was just for a short bit of a day.

((You're fine! Lmao, I understand.))
The joke had been fairly successful considering Duskwing had managed to let out a snicker afterwards. "Ah, I've heard of those before. Haven't had one in many moons." She teased, although it was partly true whether she liked to admit it or not. At least she could say she had a friend or two. The molly had begun to relax much more as Sunmist took enough notice to look around rather than at her. "You'd think I'd be able to remember everyone's names. My memory is about as good as some of the Elders." She slowly shook her head and continued to peer at their surroundings as well.
"Tell me about it. Whenever I wake up for dawn patrol I always hear a whole stampede of them bouncing around." She purred in amusement, "Sometimes I really do pity the Queens." The molly was still having a moment of disbelief at her own politeness, yet couldn't bring herself to throw an insult at her clanmate. "While I do enjoy the freedoms of being out here and being able to hunt.. The idea of having no responsibilities as a kit sounds nice sometimes." She admitted. Hunting and patrol duty were always great ways to fulfill her purpose in life along with protecting her clan in battle. Overall, she was just the standard rule-abiding warrior.

She flicked her tail,” Try to have faith she’s not dead, you say she’s a great hunter, she’s probably been fine hunting for herself as a loner. If she is independent and strong as you described she probably is alive.” She reasured him.

Re: ShadowClan Territory
→ Smokepaw ←
It was days like today Smokepaw was grateful for his mentor.
Of all the cats in ShadowClan, Needlescar seemed to be the only cat other than his sister that never made fun on his eyes. He hoped one day, the other apprentices and few immature warriors would understand that it was low-lying fruit. At this point, he was beginning to get more irritated than upset each time one would knowingly shove into him or spit a snide remark in the den.
That didn't stop the young tom from stomping through the damp ground beside his mentor with a scowl, face taut.
"Do you actually think I'll ever be a warrior?" He grumbled, trudging along. He'd progressed much slower than his fellow apprentices, but Needlescar's patience had eased his anxiety multiple times. He may have needed twice or three times the amount another cat did to understand a battle maneuver, but he did eventually understand.
The blind tom had yet to ask what their game plan was for today's training, however, time with his mentor was enough.

"You may be right, but I still can't get my hopes up over it." The burly brown tom sat down and curled his fluffy tail gently over his paws. "I'm not sure what to think of her not being here, I don't know why she left, I don't understand her at all. We've lived our whole lives here in Shadowclan and there's never been any reason for us to question our loyalty to this place, and to these other cats. I just don't get it and I feel blind." Sad green eyes wandering to the sky as a sigh left his agape mouth.

(Sounds good to me <3)
Needlescar turned towards her apprentice, her gaze soft at his question. "Of course you will," she replied, "you might need a bit of extra training, but it'll all pay off in the end." She sounded confident in her reply, her tail curling behind her. Her apprentice had promise, despite needing a bit more help. Needlescar was confident that Smokepaw would be a good warrior for the Clan. The slim she-cat paused for a moment. Perhaps they should work on what he needed improvement with.
"I was thinking we could go over some of the things we've been working on while we're training, see what you've got down and what we need to work on a bit more," she suggested. "Just so we don't focus on things we've already pretty much mastered."

Re: ShadowClan Territory
→ Smokepaw ←
Smokepaw sensed Needlescar's body no longer matching his stride as she stopped. He halted, right ear flicking in her direction. He sat, listening to his mentor's words, and contemplated just what he had mastered. Smokepaw felt his mind at ease with her confidence in his abilities.
"Well," the tom began, "this leaf-bare has messed up my hunting skills." He could hear a distant bat squeak, the scuttling of a deer mouse, the fluttering of a chickadee's wings in the huge sycamore directly in front of them. While his vision was still great black and dark gray blobs, he could hear just about anything in a few cat's length radii. Not that that helped him a bit of good trying to land a kill.
His ears flicked straight up, followed by the far-off honking of a flock of brown and black ducks flying overhead the towering trees. He wondered if the birds were as big as he imagined they were as a kit.
"I don't want to get every mouse in the forest worked up trying to catch one..." He kneaded he soggy earth underfoot. "But I guess I have to if I ever want to eat something you or Silverpaw haven't caught."

Cloudwish smiled, "Well why fon't we while we're here?", hr meowed with a purr. He too hadn't really been out of camp, since their kits were born. He helped his mate any way that he could qnd that took up most of his time.

Sunmist was a little startled by her joke, not sure if there was some truth behind it or not, though he did his best to hide any sort of pity he might've felt for her in that moment and kept a relaxed expression. "So I'm breaking your streak, then? What an honor," he joked back, flitting his gaze to Duskwing for a heartbeat before returning his gaze to the trees around them. Above them, a squirrel hopped from branch to branch. His gaze trailed after the fuzzy creature, though any thoughts of hunting disappeared once his clanmate spoke again. "As well as the elders, huh? Well, depending on the elder in question, that may not be a good thing." A teasing purr grew in his throat before subsiding.
A hearty laugh escaped him, as he too thought of the 'stampede' of kits in the morning. "They are a handful, and though I don't know that I'd exactly say that I pity them, I sure respect how much work goes into being a queen. It's part of the reason I try to help them so much." His whiskers twitched then, before the golden tabby continued. "The other reason being that it's a perfect excuse to hang out with the little ones. Always nice to kick back once in a while, especially with all the responsibility that goes with being a warrior." At the molly's next statement, all the tom could do was nod and murmur agreement, pondering for a moment.
If it were possible to return to his kit days, would he? Sunmist did genuinely enjoy the work he did, even if he did get a bit overwhelmed at times - not that his clanmates would ever notice, with how outwardly collected he always was. Thinking back to his kithood, his littermate came back to mind, answering his question immediately. "I'd go back to those days, if I could. Not even just because of all the work I have now, but because my family's changed a lot since then, and it'd be nice for us to be the same as before." He paused in his explanation, before turning his curious gaze back on Duskwing. "Would you go back, if you could?"
