He nodded," Once the balance is down better we can test it with me trying to throw you off my back, thankfully badger's can't roll onto their back, just rear up and shake and run."

"Alright!" Grovepaw agreed eagerly. Then, adding on with her whiskers twitching, said, "It'd be kind of like a badger ride, the ones I'd get as a kit. Only, as battle practice." She gave a purr of amusement. Then she paused, mind turning as she thought over Monarchstep's words more deeply. "Although, in an actual fight with a badger- my claws could help me, couldn't they? Of course, I'm not using them now since this is just training... but that'd help with my balance, wouldn't it?" Her eyes turned to the tom's as her thinking was done, and she was just waiting for an answer. What she said made sense in her own head, but for all she knew she couldn't just spouted out nonsense to the warrior.

Overhead, the starts twinkled out one by one, and the farewell calls of birds that still happened to be up echoed through the trees. The soil beneath the warriors paws was soft and sturdy from the sunlight that had pierced down over the past couple days. There wasn't much other sound since the prey was fast asleep, hidden away in their little burrows for now. Still, Emberwing placed each pawstep forward down carefully, her stride light and airy as her yellow amber gaze flickered back and forth. Today had been a nice, typical day, one filled with teaching her apprentice Cinnamonpaw some hunting techniques and sharing a vole with her fellow Clanmates. Things felt peaceful.
She wasn't expecting any other cats to be out of camp this late, since the dawn patrol had returned some time ago, so Emberwing was surprised when a familiar scent reached her nose. It was definitely ThunderClan, so she stayed relaxed and calm as she pushed her way through the undergrowth that separated her from the scent's source. Up ahead, splayed out in a patch of moonlight, was Hydrangeaspirit. She'd heard of the she-cat, but hadn't ever had a conversation with her, or even a passing hello. Emberwing was far too busy with Cinnamonpaw to make not of every member of ThunderClan like she used to, but a smile broke out on her face regardless. After all, Hydrangeaspirit was ThunderClan just like her. "Hydrangeaspirit," she purred, dipping her head in greeting as she approached the feline. "Out for some stargazing?"
|
(No worries! I get that life is crazy haha)
The sound of someone approaching reached Hydrangeaspirit's ears and she tensed, wondering if she'd have to fight an intruder off. She'd remembered at least that much from her training- and she used training lightly. The cat she'd been assigned to mentor her had practically spat all the rules in the Warrior Code these clans had out to her, briefly showed her the territory, and just about checked to make sure she knew how to hunt and fight before sending her off to receive her warrior name, all of which happening in less than a moon of her joining Thunderclan. She'd been annoyed at the time, but now she was a bit thankful that her mentor hadn't wanted to spend much time with her, as relearning training she already knew would've been boring. Besides, being a warrior meant she got time to herself, even if she didn't quite know the territory yet. She'd figure it out bit by bit with each outing, anyways. Remembering the intruder, the molly collected her thoughts and scented the air. Thunderclan drifted back to her, so she relaxed- though she did lift a head to see who was approaching, sending a surprised glance up at the stars. Was there really a Starclan? She had just asked them to send directions to camp, and bam! A clanmate appeared. She shook her head to rid of her silly thoughts. Coincidences happened all the time, she wouldn't allow herself to fall into unreasonable ways of thinking because of them.
Hydrangea recognized the face of the approaching molly, though a name didn't come to her. She worried that she was supposed to remember one, but not even an inkling or a part of a name came to mind. "Hello," she greeted softly, eyes looking the other over in hopes of getting some sort of clue from the other's looks. She did notice that the beginning of a name tended to have something to do with another's appearance. She was an exception to this, herself, however as she'd wanted to keep part of her name from her previous life- as a 'rogue', basically what the Clan cats called any non-kittypet that lived outside the clans. "Yes, well, sort of?" She answered the other's question, shaking her head lightly as she pushed herself up to a sitting position. Talking to someone standing while you were laying down was awkward, or at least to the white feline it was. "To be quite honest, I don't know the territory well enough yet... so I kind of lost my way earlier." A soft smile came to her maw, hiding her slight embarrassment. She wouldn't allow herself to be too embarrassed over the fact, as she'd only been around for a moon and a half anyways. Not nearly enough time to know the whole territory by heart, at least not yet- especially when upon joining she wasn't allowed to leave camp for the first few days or so.
Hydrangeaspirit blinked at the warrior, a sort of sheepish expression coming to her face. "My apologies... but you seem to know who I am, while I haven't been able to remember your name. Could you remind me of it?" She dipped her head slightly with the question, trying to remain respectful with her question. As far as she was concerned, she was below any other warrior of Thunderclan because she hadn't been raised here. At least, that's what she gathered from the treatment she'd been subjected to. Her other clanmates- sometimes even younger apprentices- didn't seem all that respectful of her, due to not being raised in Thunderclan. She wondered if it'd be different had she come from one of the other clans, rather than being a past rogue. With a flick of her tail, she decided that was probably true. Either way, she definitely felt inferior to most others here with how they treated her- though this molly with her now seemed nicer than most of her other clanmates. Hydrangea blinked, smiling again at the other feline while she waited for a response.

He nodded,” You’re bright. Yes with a real badger I do recomment unsheathing your claws as you can dig them into their skin so it’s harder to be thrown off. He meowed rather pleased with her thought process.

Grovepaw visible lit up after the compliment, a big grin spreading across her face and a satisfied expression crossing her face for a split second before being replaced with respectfulness. "Thank you, Monarchstep!" She spoke, her stub twitching as if she were trying to wave her non-existent tail. "That'll definitely help with my balance, then. But if I were to use this move on a cat, they can just roll over- I'm sure that would hurt!" She exclaimed, shaking her head. Suddenly, curiousity overtook the young molly and she tilted her head at the warrior. "Have you ever been in a battle, Monarchstep?"

He shrugged,” Never a full on battle such as the Dark Forest battle, or Evil Era Battle, or against the Dusk Syndicate, but I’ve been in plenty of border skirmishes with Windclan.” He meowed, You are right about cats being able to roll.” He meowed

Cloverfeather turned to watch the self proclaimed apprentice climb, assessing his skills while she did not have an apprentice of her own.

"Wow!" Grovepaw exclaimed, eyes widening in wonder and admiration as she stared at the tom. "Did you beat them during the fights? Oh, oh! Did you get any scars? Can I see them?" The energy she had been trying so hard to withhold during their training had been unleashed, the eager molly hopping around Monarchstep in a small circle while she tried to pick out any scars with her own two eyes. "I bet you fought marvelously!" That was a big word for a young cat, though Grove had the tendency to pick up words from others' conversations. In this case, she'd overheard two queens talking in the nursery, back when she was still a kit. One of them had exclaimed that an older kit of theirs- a warrior now- had 'fought marvelously!'. The saying had stuck with her, and she liked to declare a lot of things are marvelous, or to say things were done marvelously.
