"I bet you never even thought...never really cared..." She couldn't get it out...all her feelings had been trapped down there for so long it was difficult and painful to get them out...like kitting or a million thorns that had been stuck in you all along but you never noticed because you had just gotten used to the scratching on your skin. Yes, that's what it was. Sharp Thorns and Brambles stabbing at her heart...

Phantom stood and turned to look back at Shineflower, her gray and white pelt bristling uncertainly. She remembered one of the reasons she'd pushed away her feelings for the silver furred molly, and it had been to keep Shineflower from turning out like Phantom, from becoming a murderous traitor in everyone's eyes. Phantom had always dreamed of this day, but in reality, it was no more than a nightmare. It felt almost unreal, and the gray calico stared, stunned by Shineflower's behaviour. But Phantom was ready when Shineflower pointed, and she rolled aside, ignoring the stinging pain as thorns dug into her pelt. Phantom stood up, tears welling up in her eyes. “I did care. You have no idea how much it hurt me to leave you, but I left so that you could have a better life. You're better off without me, and a cat like me doesn't deserve someone as special as you. . . .” Phantom said, her voice cracking then trailing off. She was hurt that Shineflower would think she didn't care, but she understood why.

The warrior could see several clanmates looking up at him as he passed them, probably because of his loud tone earlier, which made the tom-cat chuckle in amusement. Hawkfeather watched several playful kittens running in front of him over the watchful eye of a queen at the Nursery entrance. He wondered if he would ever have little ones of his own and how much they would look like the warrior. Though, his thoughts were soon disturbed and he was brought back to reality.
“Good morning to you too, Owlspark.” Hawkfeather greeted his dear friend, his whiskers twitching, “Of course, of course. Take a seat and have a bit of this delicious blackbird - I think it’s freshly caught.” He purred and pushed the partially eaten bird to the other tom. “How’ve you been, by the way? This weather sure has been hectic lately hasn’t it?” The Chausie remarked, looking up at the sky above them for a moment or two.
|
At Hawkfeather's invitation, Owlspark flopped down next to the tom. He eyed the blackbird, which did look delicious, and took a bite before pushing it back over to his friend. He had already eaten a small breakfast and didn't want to take much of the other cat's as well. He purred his appreciated at it and swallowed before answering. "It is wonderful- I wonder who would be out so early hunting." He licked his muzzle to make sure he didn't have any remainders of the bird on him, scrunching his nose when his tongue brushed a feather. He watched it twirl to the ground before looking back over at his friend. "I've been doing just fine, nothing new over here. The weather really has been unusual, I've never seen so much rain! I hope there's not more today, but these clouds don't look too promising." He tilted his head back to eye the clouds in question, scowling for a quick second before looking back at the tom besides him and putting a pleasant smile back on. "How have you been? Any news on your half?"
His gaze trailed back over to the group of kits involved in a game as he waited for Hawkfeather to answer. He watched them with a fond grin, wondering if one of them would become his apprentice once they reached the right age. He found himself studying them, trying to figure out which one he would get along with best. There was certainly a rambunctious little tom he thought would be great fun teaching, but it wasn't up to him after all. He wasn't even sure if their leader thought he would be fit for an apprentice. With a flick of his tail, he tilted his head back over to his friend.

The short-furred male watched with a gentle smile as his friend joined him by his side and for once in a long time, he felt not so lonely this time when he had his morning meal before hunting. “Probably some strict mentor made their apprentice do a hunting lesson with them early in the morning, you know how they are with early training times.” He murmured, shaking his head. The warrior believed that apprentices and all cats in general should get plenty of sleep, which would, of course, increase their success in lessons rather than training them at the crack of dawn. He was relieved to hear that his friend was doing fine and he chuckled slightly at Owlspark’s words, his ears twitching as he looked up at the clouds once again. “I won’t argue with that.” He said, glancing at the other tom for a moment, “This has to be the most rain the clans have seen in quite awhile. I wonder if there is something coming..” Hawkfeather said, trailing off as he seemed to look of into the distant sky for a few seconds.
However, the young warrior shook his head when he heard Owlspark ask him how he was doing on his end. “Ah, nothing interesting.” The tom-cat replied, his tail twitching, “I was in the nursery awhile back, visiting the new kits and it turns out I have a chance to be the mentor of one of them in the near future - a little kitten named Nightkit. They are one of the kits of Thedream and Weaselshade.” Hawkfeather smiled, peering over at the young kittens in the clearing, playing around. He could see the way that Owlspark looked at them. “You hoping to get one of them as your apprentice when they turn six moons?” The Chausie asked, flicking his tail against his friend’s shoulder in a playful manner.

I hope I didn't hurt his feelings. she thought, suddenly alarmed. She siden't want to hurt her new friends feelings. They had only just met.
What if he didn't want to play with her anymore because she said that? Mothkit's pace slowed as her thoughts flew around her head. She wasn't aware they were playing tag anymore. Only that he might not want to play with her. She wasn't aware that he could tag her anytime. Only that he might not want to play with her anymore. Mothkit was very sensitive. She has just made a new friend. She didn't want him to not play with her anymore.
Weaselshade nodded briskly. Lynxkit. The kit,
Lynxkit, seemed nice. Playfully and teasing, but nice. Weaselshade looked at Theadream. The opposite of her. Weaselshade was aware he was thinking rude thoughts. He just didn't care. Weaselshade sipped his head to her. "I think I'll be going." he said rather dryly. The tom hot to his paws. He smiled and Mothkit and Lynxkit, skipped over Theadream,
and turned. He padded out of the nursery, his tail flicking irritably.
|
Lynxkit kept himself well hidden behind a few heavy rocks. His paws trying to find a deeper part just to keep himself more hidden. That was not likely since the tom was growing bigger. He was already somewhat of a big kitten when he was born. Which sucked in his opinion. His movements weren't always quiet. He was not good at sneaking around. Right now, he simply watched Mothkit running around, admiring her fast movements. He hardly was the one to get envious. He liked when cats had good attributes to them. He was quite positive that Mothkit would make an excellent apprentice someday, and probably be one of the best warriors. It sucked to him that he would be without her for a moon.
The tom flicked his ears at her words, a small smirk forming on his face. She was...slowing down? Why was she slowing down? Lynxkit squinted his eyes from his spot, keeping himself in a low hunting crouch. Maybe it was his time to reveal himself by pouncing on her and running off quickly. Well, not as quick, but quick enough before she even knows what even hit her. Yes, that's what he would do. The tom used a simple move that Hunterpaw once taught him. Though he had to remember to keep his sharp claws intact so that he wouldn't hurt her. Then, the tom leaped from his corner, aiming right to pin her. The tom didn't get his coordination right, because once the move was completed, he found them rolling around in a tight ball around the nursery. Once they had reached a wall, Lynxkit made sure he was the one to hit the wall to avoid impact upon his friend. Once everything was settled down, Lynxkit let out ragged deep breaths, too much for a kit his age. Though he had laughed it off like it was nothing. Because, in all honesty, it was. ''Tag.'' He finished, breathing, but didn't move. His muscles were sore at the moment. Maybe...I should had thought that through.
''Wai!-'' Theadream had called, but the tom was already heading out the nursery. Dangit, I meant to ask him if he could get me some fresh kill. The small cat rolled her eyes at herself, but brushed it off. She laid contently in her nest again, and figured she would get something to eat later on. She didn't feel like bothering any of the cats. Not that they would want to be bothered by her presence anyway. Did the feline really feel like hearing cats taunt her? No. That was not what she wanted. Besides that, watching the little kits play had to be a good thing. A great part of her day. She saw that Lynxkit had a different approach when it came to catching Mothkit. She was pretty fast, so she seen him hide. She had held in a laugh when Mothkit began slowing down, no doubt thinking she lost Lynxkit. But, when that kit lunged at her daughter and the two began to roll around, Theadream nearly hopped out her nest, ready to check up on them. They had hit a nearby wall, and that was what made Theadream run over to them. ''Are you two alright? Is everyone ok? No one is hurt? Mothkit?'' She turned to her multi patterned kit, and bent down to give her a whiff, and began giving her rasp licks.

"Mom!" Mothkit squeaked, glaring at her mother. "Everyone is fine." she admired the way Theadream cared so much about her, but they had only been playing. Tag was a fun game. They hit the wall, so what? It wasn't like Mothkit to be that sassy, but she was really annoyed. As far as she was concerned everyone was fine. Lynxkit hadn't yowled out in pain, nor her, therefor she assumed everything was fine. Unless Lynxkit was injured. But she was pretty sure he wasn't. Mothkit was glad Weaselshade had just left. She didn't want more cats fussing over her and Lynxkit being "hurt", that was just annoying. The small kit ducked away from her adoptive mothers frantic licks. "Unless Lynxkit is hurt, no one is hurt!" she chirped, annoyed that her voice was so small and squeaky compared to her mothers. It was hard to sound serious when that happened. Really hard.

Midgepaw didn't speak, they just nodded, looking away. Suddenly something bumped their head and they flinched, glancing up to see Ebonyflicker, staring down at the scar that nearly ran the length of their leg, a thin line of pink scar tissue, hairless and exposed. Midgepaw expected harsh words, but when Ebonyflicker nudged their ear and started purring, the mottled apprentice blinked in surprise, the purred in response. “I-I'm just glad it didn't kill me. I h-had to spend three moons in the t-the healer's den.” Midgepaw added, stuttering because the purr was hard to talk while doing.

A rare frown appeared on Owlspark's face when Hawkfeather's words trailed off- he hadn't thought of the possibility of something coming. He wondered briefly if the rains have been a sign from Starclan, but decided that Surgestorm would have shared it with the clan if this was true. He could only hope that the rains would pass and simply just be rain- that it wouldn't turn into a worse storm. "I'm sure it won't," was all he said to Hawkfeather in an attempt to reassure and comfort him.
He listened to Hawkfeather speak eagerly, his frown already gone and replaced with a happy expression. "That's great news," Owlspark exclaimed. "Congratulations, Hawkfeather." His eyes swiveled back to the kits as his friend mentioned them and his whiskers twitched when the other tom guessed just what he had been thinking. Of course he would know what Owlspark had been thinking- that was how it was between best friends. "I would love to have an apprentice of my own," he admitted. "And I was just thinking that the little tom over there- the one playing leader now in their game- that he would be a fun apprentice. But I'd be happy to have any cat, really."

Hawkfeather was happy at his friend’s attempt to reassure him. “You’re right - it’s probably just the time of greenleaf that is causing it.” He remarked, his tail twitching back and forth as a slight yawn came from the warrior. In all honesty, he wished he could’ve gotten more sleep the night before, but for some reason, his mind could not rest last night as he laid awake, thinking and wondering about many things. The tom-cat looked up at the sky for a third time, seeing if there was any sign of rain or lightning nearby - so far, there wasn’t anything to see but grey clouds.
The young warrior smiled at his friend’s words. “Thank you, Owlspark. I’m really excited to be a mentor for the first time.” He purred with delight and he turned his head to look over at the kits playing a little game that was quite familiar from his own kit-hood. Hawkfeather could see the little tom-cat that Owlspark had pointed out, who seemed to be the so-called leader of the group, who were assumingly his fellow littermates. “Hey, I think you’d make a great mentor.” The tom-cat mentioned to his best friend, resting a paw on his shoulder and smiling, “Who knows? You might just get that little tom-cat over there to be your apprentice. I’d certainly put in a good word for you if that’s what it came down to.” Hawkfeather was a supportive, loving friend by heart and he could see Owlspark as his brother by how close they seemed to be already. “I believe in you, dude. Trust me, someday, you and I are going to be great mentors - what if we trained our apprentices together? That’d be awesome! We could have them spar during battle training and go on hunting patrols. We’d help each other.” He was very excited for the future, no doubt about that where they would be well-known, respected mentors.

Finchkit sat in the nursery, bored as she walked over to her siblings. The brown and white kit opened her maw to speak, then closed it as she was unsure of what to say. Finally, she managed to say "so, do you guys want to play high ranks?"

Beekit was relaxing in the warm sunlight seeping through the holes in the roof of the WindClan nursery when she heard her sister's mew. Beekit tried to think of an excuse so she wouldn't have to play "Well, I would but I kinda don't know what that is?", she asked herself.
(I have to go to dinner with my dad in an hour or so @ CandyFlossCat)
