Re: The Shadowledge
@ lesbianism
. . .
Pearnose gave her a sympathetic look as she spoke of Risingpaw. She wasn't quite sure what to say to comfort her friend, and she knew that her words wouldn't help at all. It hurt to lose someone you cared about, she knew that all too well. So instead Pearnose settled for a quick and simple lick.
"Well, guess we'll both have to learn together." She said, trying to keep the conversation a bit more lighthearted.
She then turned to their leader again her ears perked and eyes widening. This was much more serious than just gossip and drama. Larkfire had a name change? She knew Dawnstar could be mean, but Lostspark? That was just cruel. Those damn ThunderClan cats. They though themselves righteous and great while ShadowClan to be cruel and harsh.
The knews of Fogkit was even more shocking. She'd noticed the strange kit earlier. He was picked up by a hawk and taken from RiverClan? Did none of the RiverClan cats know he was missing? Or did they simply not care? That was strange. Shouldn't they be raiding the camp looking for this kit. Strange. Maybe he had no kin or friends. How unfortunate.

Re: The Shadowledge
Mistlewhisker
ShadowClan
she/her | 36 moons
[Large black cat with a half white muzzle and pale green eyes, one gouged out]
---------------
[Lostspark - @Rose ] [Dawnstar - @Undertaker ] [Squirrelpaw mention - @furrensic ] [Hawkbite - @SuspiciousMindz ] [Silverlark - @Alchemist Kitsune ]
---------------
Shame. That's what Mistlewhisker felt when Lostspark brought up the molly's intention of getting a patrol together to search the border for RiverClan warriors asking after their kit. After stepping out of the medicine cat den and searching for the leader or the deputy to no avail, Mistlewhisker had vowed to bring up the patrol later to them.
And then... forgot.
She had gone to patrol the border herself, and did not find any cat looking for Fogkit. After, she had gone hunting to bring something back to camp so she would feel useful, only to be attacked by a young fox. In the aftermath of the quick but rather difficult battle, Mistlewhisker had been approached by Hawkbite and Silverlark, then spent the majority of the day skinning the fox and bringing the pelt back to camp.
With all these things happening in such a short time, everything had just gotten so scrambled. She felt so small, in that moment, everyone's eyes on her as she stepped up from where she was seated next to Squirrelpaw. "That is true," she admitted, her deep tenor ringing across the clearing. "It was my intention of gathering a full patrol to comb the RiverClan border for cats who may have been searching for the kit. I took it upon myself to do a quick solo search, and found no one." She kept her eye locked on Dawnstar's, refusing to look weak, while also putting as much reverence and regret in her gaze as possible. "After, I was attacked at the Sunkissed Creek by a fox while hunting, and during the fight lost sight of my original goal. Hawkbite and Silverlark can attest to this event." She scanned the clearing for them, gaze alighting on the enforcers if they were in fact in attendance. "I had intended on informing you the results of that patrol, but became distracted. That is no excuse. My negligence could have put both the kit and our clan in a bad position with RiverClan." She did not apologize, but instead bowed her head to Dawnstar as a sign that she was finished with her explanation. Excuse, her brain provided, and she grit her teeth. It really was just an excuse, wasn't it.
Once she was done, she went back to sit next to Squirrelpaw, doing her best to look as calm as possible, and not shake like a leaf.

Now that was why she had been smelling something weird in camp that day! Lynxshade was unsure whether to be more shocked that Larkfire had been cruelly named Lostspark, or that a kit from another clan had made their way all to Shadowclan camp.
She brushed Eelfang and sat down near him, not oblivious to the expression on the tom's face. She bent down to whisper in his ear, but kept staring secretly at the little kit crouched near Slytiger. "Eelfang... what do you think Dawnstar will do with this kit?" She asked with a prick of worry, fearing that she might be able to hurt them in her uncontrolled rage.
I've never witnessed such an event... how will she react? And why doesn't Vulturefang give his own comments? In her memory, the deputy was always absent or silent during these gatherings. She had wondered for a long time why Dawnstar had chosen him as a deputy, but she hadn't come to an answer yet.
And Lostspark... why? What did she do to deserve such a name? Weird things were happening recently.

->> eelfang [he/him, warrior, 17moons] <<-
a small black and white tom with various scars
eelfang felt someone brush past him and settle next to him but kept his eyes trained on the kit infront of them, unable to take his eyes off the situation for even a second.
"judging by her reaction she might actually eat it" he muttered in response, dawnstar seemed more irritated than usual so he guessed the chances of the kit staying with them or even leaving camp alive and in one piece were slim. tensions were high at the moment anyway and a riverclan kit was possibly the worst possible cat to stumble into camp right now.
he was worried about the kits fate but was that really what he should be thinking? maybe he should already be deep in thought about how they could use it to profit shadowclan..but.. that felt wrong. did that mean he didnt value his clan enough? but the kit was innocent..

More than likely, Lostspark wouldn't hold true to either of those promises. A grudge was nothing to potentially kill someone over. Mistakes. That's what her life boiled down to in the end. No use moping about it now, anyway. There was no time for it, either.
She had given Starrylight one task after the fidgety warrior had dumped Fogkit in her den, and Starrylight hadn't even done that. Come to think of it, Lostspark had also suggested Mistlewhisker about checking the RiverClan-ShadowClan border to see if any RiverClanners were there waiting, and Mistlewhisker had said something about talking to Dawnstar and Vulturefang about it. Apparently that hadn't been done either -- but to be fair, it was mostly Starrylight at fault. And maybe even Lostspark herself, for not following up about it. But between learning of Starrywisp's code-breaking, getting concussed, going blind, getting renamed, and having thirteen kits... it was safe to say there had been plenty on Lostspark's mind lately. Enough that she hadn't thought to go back and double-check that the two warriors meant to inform Dawnstar of Fogkit's presence had actually done their damned job.
Which they hadn't. Surprise. (note the sarcasm).
If she could see, Lostspark would have scoured the group of gathered cats for Starrylight, to call the warrior up, to make the warrior give a reason for why she had not informed Dawnstar of the RiverClanner in their midst after bringing him to camp. Yes, Lostspark was still pissed about that mistake too. Starrylight could have sent for Lostspark, not brought a rival Clan kit to camp.
Moving away from her mate's side and picking her way over to where Fogkit stood, trembling, Lostspark didn't bother spare Slytiger a glance (more so because she couldn't... actually see, so it wouldn't matter to acknowledge him anyway). "Starrylight brought him in." When? How long had it been, again? When Lostspark recalled, she grimaced on behalf of both herself and the warrior. "Over half a moon ago." Lifting her head, sightless gaze fixed in Dawnstar's vague direction, Lostspark pursued her lips in quiet irritation. What the hell had Starrylight been doing for all this time?
"She brought him to me, dumped him in my den, mumbled something about him being a RiverClan kit and that he was injured, and then left my den after I told her to inform you that she'd brought a RiverClan kit to camp." Lostspark allowed her tail to brush against the ground near Fogkit to make sure of where she was before she inclined her head in the kit's direction. "He was injured. I bound his wounds, and then questioned him. A bird, likely a hawk, snatched him right from RiverClan's clearing, and no one thought to stop it apparently."
Sightless gaze flicking back in Dawnstar's direction, Lostspark straightened. "I suggested to Mistlewhisker to check Saltmeadow Marsh for any RiverClanners asking after Fogkit." Reports. Lostspark had made reports to her mother so many times before. The only difference here was that she was making one in front of the entire Clan... which, let's face it, she was bound to hurt more than one cat's feelings. Something for her to deal with later, if said cats were ones to hold grudges. "Either that happened and Mistlewhisker didn't find anyone... or it never happened." Lostspark was really hoping that second option was not reality, because the warrior had actually given her a good first impression when she'd been in her den. She could still hope that Mistlewhisker had gone on her own, yes?
"I've been keeping him confined to my den since. Didn't want him wandering around camp and getting killed by an unaware ShadowClanner, lest we need to return him to RiverClan and it ends up he's... dead."

Starrylight
Starrylights fur went up.
``What? I mean- I did but I- I- I-`` She stammered.
She wasn't thinking about how she could be killed, in trouble. None of that. She just was terrified that... that Fogkit was... Dead! Her paws shook, it felt like something was thundering through the ground- through her! And then it hit her. Dawnstar could have her killed because of this. Her eyes widened. She wasn't ready to leave! She wasn't ready to join Starclan, but what if she was in the Dark Forest? She almost cried. All of this hit her like a truck, she didn't want to die, she didn't.

Re: The Shadowledge
[Hawkbite]
Enforcer Commander
Shadow Fiend | Just a Scratch | Agatha Kitty
Hawkbite's demeanor shifted at the sound of his name.
He'd have to apologize to Ibispaw later, momentarily forgetting the apprentice was beside him. This wasn't a pleasant side of himself, and she'd never been subjected to it before. Hawkbite turned to stare at Mistlewhisker, the fur along his spine bristling now. Had she decided it wasn't important to report her findings at the time he'd found her? It took everything in his will to not rise to his paws, but there was no hiding the growl that radiated from his throat.
Hawkbite would turn to Dawnstar first, defending himself and Silverlark before speaking on Mistlewhisker's behalf. His tone was respectful, the growl paused for the moment. "Silverlark and I were doing a quick patrol to make sure ThunderClan was behaving by Sunkissed Creek. We did stumble upon her fox fight, but-"
Hawkbite would turn back towards Mistlewhisker, the growl in his throat returning and his gaze was sharp. "-why did you not report yourself to me when I found you? Distracted or not, how do you just forget like that!?"

Re: The Shadowledge
High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]She could hear them, mumbling and grumbling about her harming a mere kit. Those concerned hadn't been in ShadowClan long, listened to too many rumors, or were just brainless fools. Dawnstar rolled her eyes briefly, ears twitching as she stomped down her annoyance and urge to rip apart the fools. She needed a walk after this meeting.
Mothkit's sudden arrival had Dawnstar glowering down at the hairball. The leader huffed while using her tail to shoo her hairball away. "Mothkit, when did I say you could come up here? You have plently of other kits to play with, go find them or I'll call Nightshiver to take you back to the nursery." There was no need for attachments or bonds to form, they weren't keeping the RiverClan kit.
The RiverClan hairball provided a good distraction as he took a second to hesitate before answering. Fogkit, wonderful now she just needs the ones who brought the hairball to camp to speak up. Of course, it was Lostspark who blindly made her way up here and started talking.
"Did you just say half a moon ago!" She hissed between gritted fangs. This kit has been in a camp for a whole half a moon. If she wasn't so irritated she might have been impressed with their ability to hide things from her. How the hell was this hairball in her camp for half a moon and no one said one word about it!
As Lostspark went on, Dawnstar swung her gaze to the two she-cats accused of being incompetent. Mistlewhisker's quickly jumped on excuse after excuse. Honestly, her incompetence was slightly worse than Starrylight's. Not only did she not tell Dawnstar about the kit, but she apprentice forgot to tell anyone about the fact that no one was looking for the hairball, and that there had been a fox in Sunkissed Creek. This was important stuff that could not be overlooked!
Then there was Starrylight who was a stammering mess, lying about reporting anything to her. "You're pushing your luck, Starrylight." Dawnstar growled to the warrior. Barely refraining from sliding out her claws as Hawkbite took to scolding Mistlewhisker.
[Batt. I did see your post in the leader's den, but as it completely messes with the timeline, and Dawnstar's not that forgetful. It's getting overlooked. If you have problems with that, pm me and we'll talk.]
"Mistlewhisker and Starrylight, you'll both spend the next half-moon on apprentice duties. I want dens cleaned and beddings changed. Until the half-moon is up, you are not allowed to eat until both those in the nursery and elders den have, you are not allowed to the next gathering, you're not allowed out of camp alone, and for causing Lostspark a headache, you will be aiding her in the medicine den as she needs. If you're caught slacking or resting before any of this is done I will demote you both." Dawnstar growled at both cats. They were getting off very easy here solely because RiverClan hadn't caused a fuss about this.
[Punishment is up on January 23. You must have at least 2 posts with at least 50 words count cleaning the den and bedding, or aiding Lostspark in the medicine den. If you need an extension let me know before January 20.]
It's been ages since Dawnstar's spilled blood at a meeting. She should have ripped their ears off their heads, but Lostspark would be stuck cleaning up the mess. "Daughter, I am aware that you're dealing with a lot which is why you're being let off. Your judgment with keeping Fogkit in the den was spot-on, however, when it regards something as important as an opposing clan cat being brought to your den and stuck there for half a moon, I trust you'll find the time to speak to me yourself or find someone you know for certain will report back to me." Dawnstar advised, assuming that this was a lesson learned by Lostspark.
Done with snarling at everyone she felt was at fault here. She locked eyes with young Fogkit. "You, your Clan doesn't give a ratass what happens to you since you were snatched right before their eyes." But she didn't want the hassle of keeping the kitten. "I'll figure out what to do with you after the meeting. Until then you're staying with me. Got it?" Dawnstar still had a meeting to finish, this little hairball of an interruption wasn't going to stop that. She didn't wait for a full answer as she lowered her head, aiming to grab Fogkit by his scruff.

Glowingpaw's ears perked up as he watched the interaction between the RiverClan kit - Fogkit, apparently - and Dawnstar, as well as the incompetent warriors who had seen no point in reporting such a thing. He would never be that stupid.
The kit was being returned, maybe? Personally, Glowingkit would have kept him. Either RiverClan was too incompetent to notice he was gone, or they just didn't care, and he wasn't sure which was worse. ShadowClan was competent, and ShadowClan had cats who would care. The kit would be better off here, but unfortunately it wasn't up to him to decide that.
He glanced up at his mentor. Maybe a change of plans, if possible. "Would it be possible to ask to go along to RiverClan? I want to see."

Re: The Shadowledge
Thank god, Dawnstar was returning Fogkit. And, ha, less work on Yellowpaw's paws. Some warriors were so irresponsible, they had to do apprentice work. It was funny, really. Yellowpaw snorted a little too loud.
