"Y-Yes, please!", the she-cat replied as Rushflame quickly exited camp to look for a stick. He remembered that there were a few sticks near the old log on the moors and dashed across the moorlands. The ginger point Siamese picked up one of the sticks and headed back to camp. It took him a while to get back to camp and Rushflame padded back to the nursery, but realized that the first kit, a tom, had already came while Rushflame was getting the stick from the log on the moors. He gave the stick to Eelgaze. The Maine Coon bit down on the stick as the second kit, a tom-kit, came.
Eelgaze winced, biting down on the stick again as the third kit came, a tom-kit. Rushflame licked the kits and picked them each up gently by the scruff, one at a time, and placed them next to their mother. Eelgaze bit down harder on the stick this time as the fourth kit, a she-kit, came. Rushflame licked her and placed the she-kit next to her brothers by their mother.
Eelgaze looked at Rushflame. Rushflame nodded to her as he knew what she was going to say next. "What should we name them?", she asked. Rushflame thought for a moment before replying. "The firstborn tom-kit should be named Specklekit. The secondborn kit should be named Mudkit.", he responded. Eelgaze nodded and then replied. "The third born tom-kit should be named Foxkit. And then, the she-kit should be named Gingerkit.", Eelgaze said, licking the four kits. Foxkit mewled in protest until his mother stopped licking him. "Well, Foxkit's going to be quite the troublemaker when the kits are older," Rushflame chuckled.
Eelgaze nodded. "Do you want me to get you something from the freshkill pile?", the tom asked. "No, thank you, Rushflame. I'm fine.", the Maine Coon she-cat replied. Rushflame nodded, grooming his mate's head. "I hope that our kits grow up to be great warriors.", he said, nuzzling Eelgaze. "I hope so.", she responded.
(Okay, wow... I typed too many words...)

Specklekit mewled quietly, which was odd as him being the largest he should probably be the loudest. He slowly pulled himself closer to his mother, pushing his siblings as well as he could and mewling more when he wasn't able to get past them. Since he was so young and couldn't see, he didn't know that he had crawled on top of two of his smaller siblings in his quest.

That's what ShadowClan cats liked, so why shouldn't they enjoy it? But it looked so.. weird. She didn't want her apprentice to scent for too long, as the smell still made her eyes water from the sourness. "Yes, we should head back before we get sick. Who knows what's over there?" She shivered, walking in the other direction as the air cleared and she could breath the fresh, clean moor air again.

“Of course, they would think that.” Ferretpaw growled, rolling his eyes and turning away from the border, “Shadowclan thinks they are so high and mighty all the time..” The apprentice shook his head and shook one paw, several droplets of water flying from it. It made him want to go back to the dry, comforting moors that he called home. To his luck, Tealeaf agreed that they should head back, obviously detecting that sour, sickening scent that he had picked up. “Well, whatever it is, it’s their problem and not ours.” He huffed and followed his mentor with delight as they went away from this dreadful place that made him shudder with uncomfortable feelings.

Mudkit squirmed slightly, his pale brown tail flicking as he stayed close to the warmth of his mother. He moved awkwardly towards her, deaf and blind. He mewled, unable to speak coherent words, and curled his tiny tail around himself.

"They do have quite an ego.." she replied, making her way back towards the camp. She glanced at the darkened skies, about to rain probably, and slightly quickened. She smiled, despite his rudeness, Ferretpaw was a good apprentice. Tealeaf turned her head to him, "true" she mewed as they returned to the familiar camp. "Well, I think we can call it a day." She trilled, dipping her head. "It was a pleasure, Ferretpaw" she smiled, walking into camp.

His mentor was quite right. Shadowclan cats did seem to have quite the egotistical personality and Ferretpaw was glad that he wasn’t the only one that thought so. As they headed along, back to the comforts of the camp, the small apprentice’s ear twitched up at the sound of distant rumbling that could possibly be thunder for a next rainstorm that could be coming their way. “It seems that there is going to be more rain today..” Ferretpaw grumbled, his ears flattening as he quickened his pace to pad next to the warrior. He glanced at her as she spoke and for once, Ferretpaw thought that she wasn’t so bad. Most cats treated him like some kit that needed to be confined in camp, always tending to elders or fetching fresh moss. He returned the head dip to the she-cat as they grew closer to their destination. “Does that mean that tomorrow is when my first hunting lesson will begin? Or would rather teach me fighting first?” The tom-cat asked, curiosity in his tone.

Eelgaze rested her head on her paws as she looked at the kits. Rushflame stifled a chuckle as Specklekit crawled on top of Foxkit and Gingerkit. Foxkit mewed a few times as Specklekit crawled on top of him and Gingerkit. He tried squirming away from under his bigger brother but couldn't due to the fact that Specklekit was bigger. Rushflame realized that Foxkit was trying to get from under Specklekit so the ginger point Siamese picked Specklekit up gently by the scruff and put him next to the two smaller kits. Foxkit stopped squirming and had calmed down. The dark ginger tom-kit began suckling, even though he wanted to be far away from his littermates as he could be.

They listened in closely to what their mentor told them, hanging on to his every word, feeling that what was Bering said was important, and that they might possibly need to remember this stuff in the future, as it could very well come in handy. They listened as Ebonyflicker started listing of more names, surprised at the tone he used when mentioning the second to last name. Midgepaw twitched their long whiskers curiously, but made no comment on it, not wanting to offend the warrior, because Midge had a feeling that f they asked about it, Ebony would probably go into a rather foul mood, and they weren't in the mood to tpdeal with a bad tempered tom, but quite the opposite. “Thwn why can't you go back and be with them?” the mottled apprentice asked, sounding rather concerned.
|
Ebonyflicker gave the apprentice a sad smile, "Well, they're from different clans. We may have fought together but that was under the other leaders. When Ashnight was killed Brokenpeak fled, after Bucknight's defeat Reedbriar fled but she's back now, and after the battle against Ratnight I didn't hear anything from Moonwhisker." He looked rather upset but then he straightened, "But, I know that if I had the chance to bring them to Windclan I would, or maybe I'd go away and travel with them. We know where Brokenpeak fled to but we can't go after her just yet. Besides, I love life in Windclan, I was raised here, why should I want to leave?"

For the longest time, Cavemist had admired Brambleflash, and though nobody knew it, it felt like something further than admiration now, something special and precious. When he looked up again, he saw Brambleflash coming back and smiled, jumping to his paws and setting to work burying the rabbit he'd caught, which he would fetch later. “That was fast.” the warrior commented.

Brambleflash nodded with a purr of amusement. "That's how I earned my warrior name." purred Brambleflash with a slight chuckle. The tom looked around for anywhere to go for a walk. He spotted a few tree's a bit far away, but still in Windclan. "I want to show you where I caught those squirrels at." He meowed, turning his head to look at Cavemist. The tom sat down, waiting for an answer. I hope he doesn't turn me down. That would really suck for me. Brambleflash shook the thought away

Specklekit mewled louder when he felt himself being lifted up, but instinct told him not to squirm in the older cat's grip. When he was put down he was able to get to his mother, finally, and was able to start suckling. He could feel his siblings next to him and felt warm, enjoying the fur of his littermates' against his.
