Shadow shrugged. "Maybe a moon." He coughed more. Those weren't fake, those were real coughs.

"Shadow!" Gem exclaimed. "That's not good- you've probably just been getting worse! What if... what if you die!" Her eyes widened with worry for her friend. I've just gotten him back, I can't loose him now!

Shadow didn't reply and coughed again, this time however he coughed up a bit of blood. His twolegs picked him up with a worried expression.

Gem hopped up instantly, fur bushed up in fear. Shadow... what have you done to yourself! "O-okay, you'll be okay," she murmured. "Y-your twolegs will take you to the vet, and then you'll be all better." Her eyes were fixated on the blood, fear pulsing throughout her body. She tore her gaze up to Shadow's twolegs. "What are you waiting for?" She yowled. "Take him to the vet, mousebrain! You can see something's wrong, so what's taking so long?" A flash of irritation shot through her. That's my best friend! You better take care of him!

The twolegs came back with Shadow, he looked miserable and near death. They laid him down in his bed next to Gem and sat down near him.
