Re: ShadowClan Territory
Every day was the same for Birdclaw. He didn't mind appearing mechanical; even the veiled jabs that he received weren't enough to force him to change. He would endure whatever his clanmates chose to throw at him because, in the end, he was a much better warrior then they would ever be. They could say what they liked, but Birdclaw spent his time doing more productive things. At the moment, he was out in the territory, hunting to his heart's content. It was nice out here, he supposed... a little quiet for his tastes, but that was to be expected. The territory had always been quiet. Yawning, Birdclaw ventured deeper into the territory, his tail twitching back and forth eagerly as he did so. It was nice out here, he supposed.
It felt nice.
The weather was better than it was in green-leaf or even new-leaf. He preferred cooler weather to warm, but that was a personal preference; he knew most cats were the opposite. ShadowClan, thankfully, didn't have too many wide-open areas where the sun beamed down on their pelt, causing them greater discomfort. Birdclaw would've hated that. He wondered how those rabbit-chasing WindClanners survived.
Then again, perhaps it was their own preference. A stupid preference, to be sure, but in some odd way, Birdclaw could understand it. Maybe the sun gave them their seemingly boundless energy. That would explain how annoying they were. He'd never liked those WindClan cats, anyways.

Re: ShadowClan Territory
@Fuzzyfeline
[ Sorry for the wait, and that it's a bit short! I didn't want to make you wait any longer! ]
Fairthorn walked through the territory, her stride a little slower than usual. She still had a couple scratches that needed healing from the fight with the rogues-- particularly a nasty slice across her nose, which she kept wriggling in hopes to stop the burning sensation. The Bombay put off going to Agaveheart, however. She'd needed to escape for a while, to think, and where better than the shaded forests of ShadowClan? But the wounds weren't what was bothering her. Iceheart. Or I suppose I should start referring to her highness as Icestar. The mere thought of the arrogant leader twisted Fairthorn's face in annoyance. She still couldn't believe StarClan would have picked such a cat to lead. She'd seen the way she'd treated her kits.. her own kits! No doubt she would treat her Clan with the same respect. Why couldn't everyone else see that?
Fairthorn swatted a dying fern, uttering an exasperated "Pah!" She needed to think about something else or she'd go crazy..

Kiwibounce seemed easy enough to get along with, which Shimmerfrost was grateful for. She wanted her first time leading a patrol to go smoothly. The only problem was Soaringpaw. Her new apprentice didn’t seem to have any enthusiasm for anything. And the silver bengal didn’t really like that. So she simply gave Soaringpaw a look, before she smiled at Kiwibounce and then headed into the territory.
Once they were there, Shimmerfrost inclined her head towards the Thunderclan border. “We’ll head that way, hopefully we might find some prey. Or new growth. We need to be careful though, it’s probably still going to be unstable, as things are burnt and not holding together very well.” She paused for one moment to make sure the two cats were following closely, then she set off at a bounding pace towards the burnt part of their forest.

Soaringpaw padded alongside the warriors understanding the need to be quiet and careful. But it didn’t change her mood about being out here. Soaringpaw didn’t have a problem with those warriors, she simply didn’t like to do anything unless it was her idea in the first place.

A stark white shape stood in contrast to the greying and browning territory, faced with the wide open world its beaten paths snaking towards valleys and tall trees canyons and cliffs and even beyond there. It was a dream to one day explore what else the world had to offer, to unexpected horizons and challenges. He’d only ever passed the border a few times, it simply just wasn’t exciting enough. He could recall a few moons back having trekked into open marsh territory with a new found friend of his, only to be chased right back out on the account of finding a badger. He felt his heartbeat pick up and the taste of adrenaline fill his mouth. It was a boring life here, to live as a thrill seeker with no thrills to be sought after. Troutsplash dropped onto his haunches curling his tail around his paws and watching as the bare branches dipped and swayed in the wind.
Perhaps he’d patrol the entire territory, not that he hadn’t already explored everything in his younger days. Sneaking away nightly to go even further then he had prior to. Every ditch and puddle, hole, crevice, tree and stream had been thoroughly examined upon countless adventures out into shadowclans land. It bored him to no end, knowing there was nothing but tree and rock and dirt to be seen.
It always brought him to his second thought, he could always leave. Then again he would never have gone alone out into the world, however eager and exciting it seemed to go headfirst into life. He knew it was a death wish to seek the outside world without somebody by his side. His ears pinned to the sides of his head and he cocked his head back watching as a sparrow dodged through the conopée of dying branches, swaying and moving against the wind only to disappear. If only he had wings to rise up above the trees and go where the wind beckoned him. He felt his eyes drift closed again as a gust of wind brushed up against his back. Perhaps he’d take it one step at a time.
Jerking out of his thoughts he brought himself back to his paws, he’d take a less beaten down path. Not that it would be anything new, but perhaps for the sake of looking for something- anything that was out of place. With that thought in mind he trotted forward, brushing up against the twigs and leaf litter scattered everywhere. Pawsteps light as they passed over previous foot marks. It was then that he heard something, lifting his head to peek over the foliage and pausing in his tracks. Blinking his eyes in a curious way the tom glanced up and down the path then stepped aside into the more sheltered side. There he waited... the pawsteps were gentle, much like a rabbits, but it couldn’t be they were still too heavy. The excitment bubbled up in his chest. It had been quite some time that a rabbit had passed through.. they were always of high interest since they gave him a run for his money. Though as he listened more and could quickly reason out a rabbit that usual dull disappointment drew him out of hiding. Another cat. “Hello?”

Kiwibounce bounded beside Shimmerfrost, scattering laves as she went. She smiled back at Soaringpaw, wondering how she was doing. She seemed a bit moody. But that was okay! She would find a way to bond with this grumpy cat, and she would win! She was so busy relishing these ambitious thoughts, she almost missed Shimmerfrost’s call. Oops.
“Aye, it sounds like a good plan!”

As far as he was concerned, any change could be dangerous. Especially when it came to the matter of leadership. There had been a lot of controversy over past leaders, and he had no doubt there would be controversy over future leaders. "We'll survive, though. Like we always do." ShadowClan had survived worse, and they would continue to survive worse. At the least, they weren't hosting another Clan like RiverClan was. Smokestorm wasn't sure he would've survived all those cats in one place.
"You have a point," He mewed, to her suggestion that he should go out hunting with her again. They could drop the rabbit off, and that way, they'd also get to spend more time together. Smokestorm was glad; he liked Fairthorn, and it was always nice to spend his time with a well-behaved clanmate. There were cats in the Clan who treated him badly (the same was true of everyone, though, he was sure), so spending time with one who didn't was always welcomed.
Her next words, however, caught him off guard. "I - well, I guess I could - that is to say -" He spluttered, trying to get his thoughts in order before he cleared his throat, fur heating to an uncomfortable temperature as he glanced down at the ground. "Um, yes. I'll make sure you stay in line." Awkward did not begin to describe how Smokestorm felt at this moment.
|
At his stuttering, Fairthorn merely laughed. It was funny how easy it was to make him feel awkward-- and she hadn't even intended to do that. Maybe she could help with that? "Good!" she replied, smirking as she scooped up the rabbit once again. Her nose crinkled in slight disgust as the rabbit fur moistened in her mouth; she never liked that feeling. That was also why she disliked sharing tongues.. among other things.
She turned in the direction of the camp, taking in the autumn-y woods for a heartbeat before looking over her shoulder at Smokestorm. "Ready?"
[ Sorry for the wait and extreme shortness!! Would you like to do a time-skip to the hunt? Or would you like to rp the whole "journey", haha? ]

Coming back from camp, Smokestorm was glad to have a companion. Usually, he went hunting on his own; having someone to go with felt nice, really. He appreciated her patience with him as well... not all cats were as friendly when it came to Smokestorm's shy nature. "We'll deserve a good night's rest after this," He mewed, with a half-friendly, half-anxious smile. This wasn't unusual, however; Smokestorm usually looked anxious, regardless of whether or not he actually was at that moment. It was something he disliked, but everyone had their own little quirks. This was just one of his.
"Um, should we make it a competition?" He didn't want her to be bored with only his company. Perhaps something along the lines of a game would be more her speed. He liked Fairthorn; he didn't want her to get bored and wander off, after all. Besides, a hunting competition might be what he needed to lighten his mood a little. It could help him stop taking himself so seriously.
[I went ahead and did a timeskip ( :]
At this time of day, company was to be expected. Cats would come into the territory to hunt, or simply for a walk with one of their clanmates. Birdclaw had seen cats spending time curled up together, although he couldn't understand why they'd come out here. It was pretty, sure, but aside from being a convenient spot for prey, the territory didn't have many redeeming characteristics. Birdclaw liked it because it was somewhere to hunt. He enjoyed hunting immensely, and, on the days when prey was scarcer, a good patrol never hurt anything. Having a former rogue as their deputy was bound to make other rogues bolder, and Birdclaw would not have their territory taken over by mangy fox-hearts. At least Icestar would enforce that, he hoped. A voice drew Birdclaw out of his thoughts, and as he glanced up, his eyes narrowed. While company was to be expected, it wasn't generally appreciated; especially not by Birdclaw himself.
"Out for a hunt?" He asked, keeping his voice pleasant. It was rude to ignore the other tom altogether, and although Birdclaw wasn't planning on staying to talk for long, he figured a few minutes wouldn't hurt. If he heard prey, he would leave; otherwise, it wasn't going anywhere anyway. Tail twitching back and forth as he waited for a response, Birdclaw took a closer look at his new companion. The warrior looked familiar, although where exactly Birdclaw had seen him before, he wasn't sure. He had a ShadowClan scent; one that brought a couple of names to mind. The small, white figure brought Troutsplash to mind more than any other name, but Birdclaw wasn't sure if he was correct or not.
Surely he wouldn't offend the other tom too much if he got his name wrong. Birdclaw himself understood when someone got his name wrong; there were too many cats in ShadowClan to remember everyone that passed through. "You're Troutsplash, aren't you?" They'd probably met in passing. Birdclaw wasn't one to mind if his words came off as frightening or not, especially because he rarely thought about how what he was saying sounded anyway.

Re: ShadowClan Territory
[Open]
Beastspark was roaming the territory, fighting squirrels, yelling at trees the usual. Even with his questionable background and some of the rather troublesome looks he's been receiving from some of the clanmates with Icestar now in charge, he still thoroughly loved the life of a clan cat. There was something stable about it, even with the day to day repetition. There were cats to fetch food, cats to ensure the territory and borders were safe, old cats to listen to stories or for words of wisdom, there was so much here that he had been missing as a loner. What more there was a stable place for his kitten to grow and thrive. He had been a little concerned about her growing up to fight, but he's watched her wrestle with the others kits in the clan, she wasn't a pushover. He was sure she'd make someone a great apprentice and a better warrior in the future.
The happy go lucky, battle-hungry tom paused as he spotted a small squirrel nearby, almost like a dog with a bone, he lowered himself into a hunting crouch, but like an overly excited new apprentice, he made the amateur mistake of misjudging the distance, and instead of hitting the small furry body as he leaped into the air, he caught nothing and ended up slipping on the pine needles underneath him. His large body made a heavy thud as he collided with the ground. This was common occurrence with him and squirrels. The big cat got to his part rather quickly for someone his size, eyes locking on to the bushy gray tail as it scaled a tree. He gives chase, but the prey gets away due to his inability to climb pine trees.
"You just wait you hairy rat, I will catch you." He meowed, tail lashing behind him as he rose up on his back legs, forepaws pressed up against the trunk of the tree. He swore the rodent was laughing at him.

@Okapi
Shimmerfrost freely rolled her eyes at Soaringpaw’s attitude, before flicking her tail as they arrived upon the spot designated for them to hunt.
“Okay, be careful of the burnt trees, those will be most unstable. We’ll split up here, and try to catch at least something before we head back to camp. Keep and eye out for any new growth as well.” With that, the she-cat nodded to her patrol, before bounding a little further from them and opening her mouth to start her hunt.
(We can have them each try to catch something or catch something before they go back to camp)
