Sharppaw stood up and focused on the underbrush. She could see the faint train smooshed into the ground and smell her mentor. She followed the trail carefully, finding her mentor. She just stared.
Silverstripe had given her an easy challenge, to see if they were at least capable of thinking and breathing at the same time. A short trail. A lot of scents and a non too hidden position.
"easy right. Observe what I did wrong. I left a path for you to follow through the grass and the foliage. When I took into the bushes I did nothing to hide my scent, and most glaringly any kit can see me where I am. Now I trust you know some plants at your age. If you want to hide your scent, lavender, sage bush, mint. Anything that overpowers the smell. Now you hide and I will find you kit. Do your best."

(insert monty pythons 'how not to be seen')
The apprentice listened carefully. She wasn't too familiar with most plants but she could probably smell them. She looked around nervously then headed out. She snuck, crouched, trying to leave as little imprint on the ground as possible, avoiding plants that could be bent. The sweet scent of lavender caught her attention. She headed just as carefully towards the tall, purple-blooming Bush. She carefully circled behind, even going into the bush slightly.
Unaware to all the other cats, Cinderkit was curled comfortably in a near-by fern, watching all the apprentices' moves, eager to try them out herself. being nearly six moons old, she felt confident that she could hunt and fight like an apprentice that had trained for five moons.

She gave the apprentice a good few minutes before moving from her spot and heading out slowly. Hopefully, they were a good listener otherwise, they would die within the week. Their inexperience showed but they were good. Having done this for many moons SilverStripe could notice the small trails left behind but also what they had done to try and cover it.
Through a lavender bush, perhaps she could listen. With a soft nod, Silver kept moving before finally coming up on the apprentice. Putting her paw on the tail

Sharppaw flinched, but didn't yelp for obvious reasons. She whipped around rather quickly but immediately calmed after she saw who it was. No need to seem hostile. Her brief battle training had, however, taught her to stay on edge.
She looked at her mentor with her usual blank expression.

"You did well my apprentice, still much to learn and room to grow, but lesson number two is that you should never stop learning. Each mistake is an opportunity, each scar a reminder and something to learn from. Practice becomes rote, becomes life or death when we fight. So we will continue to hide and learn and hunt and train." Padding around watching the younger cat.
"We will make a warrior out of you"

Sharppaw listened closely. Perhaps Silverstripe was not all that bad. No, Sharppaw was unaffected by flattery, but what her mentor had shown as advice and skill was definitely acceptable. So the young cat just waited for whatever came next.

"Next I want to see how you fight. How you hunt. WHen I know where you stand then I can train you. One moment." Moving quickly away and then coming back with a pine cone which she places in the grass.
"Stalk and kill the pinecone haha, then we will do real prey"
Vixenpaw was in the training hollow, watching the older apprentices practice their battle moves. She was a new apprentice, and Orchidmoon hadn't gotten around to teaching her anything (other than giving her a tour of the territory) before she was summoned on Dawnstar's patrol to visit the Hidden Haven. Vixenpaw understood that she was much too young and had no training to be allowed to go with her mentor, but it was still frustrating because now she had no one to teach her.
The young molly let out a soft huff of frustration as she attempted to copy a battle move she saw one of the warriors demonstrating for their apprentice. It wasn't working out too well, and she couldn't tell what she was doing wrong with no one to instruct her. All the other mentors were busy with their apprentices, and it would be rude to butt into their training just to get tips for herself.
Vixenpaw was just about to give up and head back to camp when she saw the newly appointed deputy, Shadestorm, padding into the hollow, most likely to make sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to be. The apprentice also noticed that he didn't appear to have either of his own apprentices with him, and decided that this was as good an opportunity as ever. If he was busy, he would easily brush her off, but in the chance that he wasn't then maybe he could offer her some tips! Plus, getting on the deputy's good side by showing him she was dedicated to become a warrior of ShadowClan was never a bad thing.
"Excuse me, Shadestorm," Vixenpaw said as she padded over, giving a respectful dip of the head to him. "I noticed that you don't have your apprentices with you, and currently my mentor is on Dawnstar's patrol to the Hidden Haven, so if it's not too much trouble for you, would you mind correcting my technique in a few battle moves?"
Shadestorm had come here to keep an eye on some of the apprentices, partly hoping that at least one of his own apprentices were there, Meadowpaw or Antpaw but neither one could be seen. Shame. The deputy had hoped to see Antpaw since he was the more battle hungry of the two, though none of the two seemed super exited for fighting.
It seemed however that another apprentice approached him, something that honestly made him slightly proud. It seemed that his new deputy status was already making him more famous. The apprentice, Vixenpaw was her name, wanted training, or a few words of advice at least. Reasonable, Shadestorm was one of the top fighters in the whole forest after all. He didn't mind teaching, Vixenpaw seemed more battle hungry then his own apprentices.
He nodded to Vixenpaw, signaling that he agreed to train her a little. "I don't see why not" He mewed before casting a quick glance around, looking if someone else would like to take part and share his knowledge and skill, but no one caught his eye at the moment so he turned back to Vixenpaw. "Lets see it then." It would be a good look for him to take care of an apprentice who's mentor had other things to do, and one more cat on his side wouldn't hurt.
He honestly wished at least one of the cats he had been assigned to could have the same enthusiasm for learning that this cat seemed to have, to train on their free time and not just when he was there to tell them to.
