PepperKit turned to face the gray kit that approached her. The kit was probably a moon-ish younger than her…so she was this kits superior! No no- orrrrrrr she could befriend this one and have a forever-sidekick! But there was also her twin- Sweets was forced to be PepperKits friend forever! Ah- she was being questioned! “I’m practicing to be the bestest hunter eva’!” she chirped with a happy tail flick.
Oh, hunting training? Breezekit wouldn't have expected that from a leaf, but it did seem fun. And this kit seemed nice. It would be nice to have friends who weren't her siblings. They were nice, but being nibbled on by Flamekit or dosing with her sisters got boring. "Can I join you? It looks fu- I mean, important to do!"
Rosekit nodded her head, fearing that perhaps she had misjudged this kit for a proper sparring partner because maybe he was younger than she first realized. No worries, and no backing out now that it seemed that Flamekit seemed happy with the idea. "Sparring is a type of battle training, yes. My name is Rosekit, daughter of Drizzlecloud and Sparrowpelt." She introduced herself with a slightly haughty air, happy to showcase her chosen lineage with her attempts to get away from her birth mother's legacy of betrayal. Placing her paws carefully beneath herself, Rosekit narrowed her eyes, "The first to call mercy loses."

The days were long. Nights even longer. But at least when it was light outside, there was some more life in the clearing. Violetfreckle never thought of herself as the type to "cat-watch", but now here she was, laying down in the sun, squinting against the light and just, watching. There were cats murmuring to each other, cats sitting around like she was, even a kitten who looked... soggy. Vi raised her head to examine the sky for clouds – mistake. It was a clear blue and she was temporarily blinded by the sun.
Several disoriented blinks later, she got back to it. If she had the energy, she might have gathered up the other warriors lounging about for an impromptu patrol. The day was nice. But that was just it, wasn't it? The day was nice. Especially after such a brutal Leaf-bare, Vi was content to sit down and just rest for a day.

Sighing in relief that this wasnt a greater issue the tripod leaned down (but not as down as they once needed to) and rasped a tongue over Wolfhawks head in thanks, purring at him briefly. "Thanks puppy, I know its not fun but its nice to do." Head craning up to look around for the aforementioned family members the hornet mused "Actually there might be more cats, Foxskipper had more relations. Uuuuuuhhh... Sit here with the bodies for a moment, Ill go inform everyone."
Setting down Mudtrot and Foxskippers bodies gently the maine coon padded off across the clearing and inform the family. It wasnt a small number too. Hivepaw, Orangeflower, Spiderpaw, Dragonflycliff, Chasmpaw, Fawnpaw, and Darkwing at least and the hornet was praying they didnt miss anyone. Each got the same words. "Can I get your time for a moment? Im really sorry to tell you but I just found Foxskipper and Mudtrot passed in the elders den. I promise you it was peaceful and simply old age, and me and Wolfhawk are soon to take the bodies to the rise for the funeral.
The choice is up to you of course, but as their family youve the most right to be there, if you want to come, we'll leave in a moment."
Perhaps it was sudden, to inform these cats their kin was dead and then trying to wrangle them all to the funeral out of camp quickly but it was risky to leave corpses for long. Safer for everyone really to do this now, if they couldnt handle it now Mudhound would tell them where the grave was so they could visit later.
Padding back to Wolfhawk and sighing over how sad this whole thing was the tripod leaned against the medicine cat, cuddling and meowing a low "We'll wait to see who gathers and head out soon while the weather is still good." already tired.
Spiderpaw's ears lifted when she heard her name called, then panic grabbed her chest. Oh dear. Why would a Hornet be calling for her? Had she done something wrong? Had something happened? And oh stars, had her anxiety been validated. Something devastating happened alright. Spiderpaw's green eyes stretched wide in horror at the lifeless bodies of Foxskipper and Mudtrot. "N-No..." She watched as Orangeblossom's grief overwhelmed her, her own young legs trembling. After the disappearance of her family, Foxskipper had practically served as a father or grandparent figure to her. How could this happen?? Spiderpaw stepped forward shakily, before throwing herself at Foxskipper's other side. Quiet sobs rattling her chest.
The gray feline steadily started to groom his fur. She had never buried a family member, her kin simple vanished over time, but she knew she wanted him to look his best for StarClan. Foxskipper would tolerate nothing less if he were here... She blinked her grief-stricken eyes up at the Hornet. "I...I-I want to...h-help..." She mewed, her normally timid voice simply weak now.
