Emberkit dragged the stick out of the nursery, setting it up just to the side. She rearranged some rocks that had slipped. "Now cats will definitely come, Starlingkit!" She paced around behind the stick, waiting for her first customer.

Starlingkit followed his sister, matching her step-for-step and staying glued to her side. He arranged the pebbles neatly, tail twirling all the while. The ginger and black marked kit once again sat down to obsessively clean the pebbles until they shone. He looked around the clearing now and again, wondering if anycat would trade for some of his pebbles.

As the kit looked around the clearing, she unfortunately found the apprentice to be right. Breezekit's shoulders slumped at the realization. With a sigh, she raid, "You're right..."

An idea came to her then. Mom Briar wouldn't like it, but she didn't have to know. Otherwise she'd be shooed back into the nursery and she didn't need that. The gray kit leaned closer to Butterflypaw, her voice low, "Are there any close to camp? We don't have to be out for long."

FoxKit trotted out of the nursery, tail lifted high as he walked.
hmph.

he padded up to the closest warrior he saw, which just happened to be FlintClaw.
"Ayup! What're you doing, big guy."
He asked bluntly,
his striped grey tail swishing as he looked up at him.
"Don't warriors supposed- aren't warriors supposed to hunt all day long?"
he hissed at himself for the slip-up,
lifting his head up as he waited for FlintClaw to answer.

End of the day. Well, morning, really. Flintclaw always found himself on the morning patrols. He pulled a squirrel from the fresh kill pile and ate. Maybe today would be a peaceful day.

Finishing his meal, Flintclaw cleaned his long claws of all the dirt and grime that had been built up from his day so far. He was debating on going to cattail pond to relax, since it seemed like he could never get a moment to himself in camp.

Aaaaaand there it was. Another brat approaching him like he owned the world. This one didn't jump on his tail or politely ask him a question-followed by a thousand other questions-no. This one seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of his mother's belly.

The dark tabby looked down at the little kit, pale eyes narrowed. He debated on boxing the kits ears for the disrespect, but decided it would be unbecoming of a warrior in thunderclan. Was this his life, now? Constantly bothered by every kit in thunderclan? He would soon know the entire next generation at this rate.

"Aren't kits supposed to be sleeping in the nursery all day?" He asked. "Just as you need breaks from playing and listening to stories, warriors need breaks from their work." and dealing with kits... The warrior sniffed and continued grooming his claws, tail smoothly curling around his seated form.

sitting down neatly as he licked his paw.

Brackenclaw would listen to what Mudhound had to say and honestly he wasn't sure how to feel. Brackenclaw hadn't heard any of this from Quackpaw and he felt sad to know she didn't think she could talk to Brackenclaw himself about this. Brackenclaw wouldn't want Quackpaw to feel like she was training under the wrong cat. You only get to be an Apprentice once well... as long as you were good and didn't get punished but that was different from normal apprenticeship obviously. Brackenclaw would think his brain mulling over things behind his orange orbs. "I-I see so Quackpaw doesn't feel like she wants me as a mentor. And you want to take over her training. I guess that makes sense.. I can't say it doesn't hurt any less to know. But this isn't about me now is it. It's Quackpaw who deserves the best training she could get you only get to be a true Apprentice once aside from punishments right? I guess we should speak to Bumblestar about this then shouldn't we?" Brackenclaw would meow his monotone voice deep and dark as usual betraying the fact that he did in fact feel some hurt about this. Brackenclaw knew this wasn't Mudhounds intentions at least not directly but Brackenclaw still couldn't help but feeling somewhat hurt after all Brackenclaw was such a mismatch with his apprentice that she wanted a whole other cat to train her. Brackenclaw would get up from his spot. "Well it would be selfish of me to deny Quackpaw the mentor that would work best for her wouldn't it." Brackenclaw added taking things surprisingly maturely considering everything. @Rani

Stars they knew it'd always be kinda painful but Mudhound felt really mean right now for asking. Even if it was what was best for Quackpaw. "Im sorry Brackenclaw." The tripod scuffed a paw, unhappy at themself "This isnt your fault at all, from what I can tell youre a very good mentor, sometimes the personality just doesnt match. Ive had a bad match too before, trust me it can end worse. You'll find a really good apprentice for you soon, Im sure!" Brackenclaw was especially suited for an apprentice who was ambitions and serious, aiming to be the best and plenty of those apprentices existed and tended to shine in a way the silly ones didnt.


Mudhound could admit that, it was kinda strange they as a silly cat got hornet.


"Ill tell Bumble-sis, just take the weight of you plus Ive been wanted to check on her." The leader was still techy and emotional and Mudhound was one of the rare cats immune to that as her sibling.


Actually speaking of that.... "Are you doing ok? Just in general. Ive heard the trip was hard and coming back wasnt as nice as it shouldve been... Its not your fault though, yanno that right?"
