And the pain in his eyes only made her grow more fearful for what he was about to say. Is he about to say that he's a supporter of Singenight and he's going to turn me in? Did he kill a cat? What did he do? Is he a traitor? All of these terrible thoughts crossed her mind and yet she couldn't help but think them, what horrible thing was he about to tell her?
When he began speaking, there was nothing she could do but be frozen in place, her eyes focused on him and only him and her thoughts quieting so that she could listen to what he had to say. What he said made her visible flinch back, a hurt expression on her face as she heard that he never planned for the friendship to go this far, was he saying that he didn't want to be friends with her anymore, was she about to lose the only friend she had..? But what he said next hurt even more than the idea that she was losing a friend. He was going to use her, he didn't care about the friendship, he just wanted to get the benefits of knowing an apprentice, getting trained early, and just toss her aside when he had gotten what he wanted, he didn't care about her feelings, he was just using her. Suddenly, sadness was replaced with anger, rage, her yellow eyes burning and her pupils narrowing to slits. He never wanted her for an actual friend. After all she did for him, telling him stuff, hanging out with him, breaking the rules with him, something she never imagined she'd ever do, he had just planned to use her to get what he wanted. Snorting out, Adderpaw looked away, unable to look at Pinekit any longer, her tail lashing and her heart thudding, tears filling her eyes and her teeth gritting as she forced herself to hold back from lashing out at him. I couldn't know that I would suddenly want to have you as an actual friend. This caused another snort to escape her, her head shaking and her nose wrinkling. Right. She shouldn't have expected to have actually made a friend.
What he said next made no effect on her, her ears flattened and her head shaking again. "And how do I know if that's not just another lie? You're probably just using me again, huh? Like toying with my emotions. Don't tell me I won, because this wasn't a game for me. Thanks for making me think I made an actual friend only to have it ripped away."
Lashing her tail again, the apprentice rose up on shaky paws, tears wetting the fur around her eyes as she stumbled off for the apprentice's den. If she didn't look defeated before, she looked defeated now, she looked completely destroyed of any happiness. Barely holding back heart-aching sobs, she entered the den and disappeared from sight, heading to her nest and curling into a ball before sobbing out into her fur. Life.. Didn't look too well for Adderpaw at the moment. Perhaps his timing wasn't right, or perhaps this would have happened anyways.
|
Pinekit had been expecting her to be upset, knowing that she would hate him for what he had done, but he hadn't been expecting the guilt- or the pain that came with it. It seemed to hit him harder than anything else, and it was only then that he realized the severity of what he had actually done. I never should have told her. I should have just eased back into my own character. She never would have noticed, probably. Pinekit thought, with a rueful lash of his own tail. For a moment, he wondered if he should just stay here. Going after her would only upset her more. But Pinekit, being the cat that he was and never starting anything that he wouldn't finish....well, other than his game with Adderpaw...slowly got to his paws and approached the apprentices' den, stopping at the entrance. "Adderpaw?" He asked in a soft voice that was so uncharacteristic it almost surprised him, before he realized that he sounded like his fake character. "I know you're in there, so don't even bother trying to ignore me." He added, sounding much more like himself. He liked it, too...it was nice to not have to worry so much about what he should say, although he knew he should pick his words carefully here. He could end up only hurting her more, which was something he didn't want to do. "You think this is a game to me? You think I'd be here just to, as you put it 'toy with your emotions?' And what do you think I would gain from that, huh?" He asked, his voice harsher than he meant it to be. It was the frustration and anger- not at Adderpaw, but at himself- that made his voice sound that way. "None. I get nothing from this. The only thing I would get would be you, as my friend. Why do you think I play these games? Did you think about that? Did you think about the fact that maybe, just maybe, I can't make a real friend of my own? Did you ever think that maybe someone hurt me before and caused me to be like this?" He asked, his voice still in his own tone. It wasn't quite as harsh as before, and it was more laced with pain than before as well. "I doubt you believe me. You probably think this is another game to me, even after all of that. Go ahead. Go ahead and find yourself a real friend, forget about me. Forget about me just like-" He cut himself off before he could continue. If Adderpaw wasn't going to be his friend...such a strange word...then he couldn't trust her. If she wanted to be friends with the Pinekit that he had been acting as, the one who was never upset and smiled most of the time, and liked to play all the time, and didn't mind losing...then that was her problem. Still, he was going to wait for her reply. Wait and see what she said.
Maybe, just maybe...she could give him another chance. Maybe she would be the first to do so. This was the first time Pinekit had tried anything like this, and it was strange and unfamiliar territory. He wasn't quite sure he liked the feel of it, either. It was too uncertain. He couldn't be sure of anything, which was another reason he played the games. The one thing that he could be sure of...or at least, that he had been sure of...was that he would always win. But this time he had lost, badly. Even if Adderpaw hadn't been playing the game. And what is friendship, anyway? Isn't it a game? Worried that you'll hurt someone, trying to hold on to your friends while balancing everything else, acting like what they say doesn't hurt you sometimes? If that isn't a game, I don't know what is. Pinekit thought to himself, with a frustrated twitch of his tail. He continued to wait for Adderpaw. He wasn't going to give up easily at all. Even if she turned her back on him now, he was at the very least going to get her to give him one more chance, just for a few minutes, a conversation...anything. His ultimate goal was to gain her friendship back, although seeing how badly this had hurt her, he was sure that it was going to be a long and hard road, and one that Pinekit wished he had never ventured down. I hurt her. I did this by myself. He thought, the realization hitting him again.
(Alright...poor Adderpaw, I can't believe she doesn't have any other friends!)

"Redwhisper, do you want to go hunting?" she asked, hoping he'd hear her.

Redwhisper was attempting to hide in the shadows. He could hear Lilacleaf's calls but he felt his body couldn't respond. He sat frozen, numb with emotional pain. After hearing Lilacleaf's question Redwhisper forced himself out of his depression. He took a deep breath and stepped out of the shadows with a fake bright smile. "Of course, I'll go hunting!" He said and padded over to his new friend.

Re: WindClan Breezerock
Averting his eyes from the scene that was before him, Mooseleaf closed his emerald eyes, trying to block out the horrific scene that was laid out before him. Death rang in the air, and the scent lingered in the cold, leaf-bare air. The frosty air now smelled of blood, and the wind only blew the terrible scent to the warrior's face. Trying to dispel the lingering scent of death from his nostrils, Mooseleaf exhaled. The tom didn't understand the reason behind the deaths and battles that appeared before him. What is he trying to do? Mooseleaf thought with an internal cry, he's only going to make us weaker! Wanting to retort towards the new leader, Mooseleaf glared at Singenight, letting his anger flow out of his stare. Mooseleaf sidled out of the clearing, his crooked maw contorted in a grimace, as though the pain and death that was happening now behind him, hurt him, though the unrest only bothered him internally.

"Yes, we brought her for you, but that is not our true reason for meeting you here." He said calmly, his voice level. "We came to ask for you support. Our Clan just experienced a ravaging fire, as you can tell." He said flicking his tail indicating the territory behind him. "Since then I have taken over as the leader for...reasons." He said hesitantly. "We need extra supporters for my side, since not every one agrees with my thinking. That's where we could use you. You could help us spconyrol him and add numbers to our ranks." He said with the same nonchalant tone. He then turned his gaze slowly to Sorrelskip wondering if she had anything to add.

Sorrelskip wasn't exactly the nicest cat, and she could seem a little strange- but for now, she didn't talk, and neither did Galeslip. Her and Hannibal, they both seemed to never really be interested in anything, to always look for something to possibly challenge them- but they did so in extremely different ways, with the tom despising the rude, and the molly being one of them herself. The plan of getting a ruthless killer to join forces with you, it was certainly a good idea, but in order to get him to join, there would have to be a price to pay, whether it was the life of a traitor or something even bigger at stake- they wouldn't possibly give him a place in their leadership, but he might request it, and they should've made more plans before seeking a cat who couldn't kill Singenight, most likely, with his nine lives- but could definitely get rid of Sorrelskip and her unborn kits if he was angered. "...Yep, that's it." Sorrelskip smiled, mumbling as she pressed against her mate's side.

Re: WindClan Territory
Monsterpaw stalked around digging her claws into the ashy ground destroyed by the fire I Can't just attack a clan leader for being unreasonable and evil, can I? she paused, she wanted to attack Blazingnight moons ago, but at the young age she was she wouldn't stand a chance, now that she passed her assessment, she knew she stood a chance, a fair chance. Starclan doesn't approve of this anyhow, why should I bother, I won't kill him, just give him a good lesson and get banned from the clan, huh, Blazingnight didn't try to gain power this quickly, he eased into the power, honestly, being evil isn't that easy. She got her gut up, she'd try to find Singenight in the territory alone and teach that fool a lesson, she wouldn't harm his mate though, she was carrying kits, and she couldn't do it, not at all. @ Nighty

Rainkit rose to his paws and flicked his tail in a gesture for her to follow. He padded towards the nursery and slid behind it knowing this was the way to get out of the camp without anyone noticing. He still hadn't said anything about the Starclan subject until he slid out of the brambles and out of the camp completely. "Stupid thorns!" He hissed, as he struggled to pick them out of his ruffled pelt. "Of course I've heard of Starclan, the elders talk about it often." Rainkit didn't like listening to the elders stories all that much, he'd rather live the adventure than hear about it, but being a kit-an orphan one at that-was so dreadfully boring. "But no, I don't believe in them. Even if they were real, what could spirit cats do to help or hurt living ones?" He caught the apology glint in her eyes. I think i'm getting better at reading her. "You don't need to be so careful, I trust you. Plus, it'll take more than that to offend me." He cocked his head to the side and looked at her a bit confused, "Pretty? So you generally smell good? What about me, I don't smell like the nothingness of rain do I?" Rainkit blinked curiously, always imagining he smelled like rain, but apparently rain didn't have a scent. I have a scent, don't I? "While we're on the subject of scents, give the ground a sniff. I'm sure you remember the scent of fire and smoke, I know I can remember the taste! I'll look out for any warriors, you take the lead."
|
Heartkit had a slight smile on her maw, although it wasn't too visible. "Hm. Well thank you, I trust you too...cause we're friends, right? Best friends?" She asked. She wanted to know, she certainly considered Rainkit to be her best friend, but she wasn't sure if he thought of her quite in the same way. "Yeah. Nope, you smell like...kind of like smoke, right now. And a breeze, so you smell pretty good too," Heartkit told him, giving her tail a slight swish. She grinned, giving the ground a quick sniff. It still smelled like smoke, and her blue hues flashed with terror for a moment as the vivid memory of the fire the other day. "Okay...it still smells like smoke, all over the place..." She mewed, and her eyes flashed again. She hated fire. It killed everything in it's path. Besides, she didn't like Singenight either, although she knew he would make the Clan stronger. She didn't care at this point, though; she would have preferred a weak leader who hadn't outlawed StarClan than a strong one who had. She could hardly believe it, it had come as such a shock to her. Heartkit's multicolored tail twitched again, and it began to swish back and forth a little anxiously. "Rainkit? Do you ever get nervous, or scared?" She asked. She could only ever remember her friend being calm, and confident...he had never appeared scared to her. She wondered if he did, she knew it was a common emotion but she couldn't be certain if Rainkit had ever had it before.

Hannibal followed his own rules really, if you thought you could control him, if you thought you were controlling him, you'd be dead wrong. He could play by your rules sure, but don't for a second, think that you are controlling this beast because he's likely just manipulating and controlling you without you even realizing it. This cat may not have nine lives, but he could wreak all sorts of havoc if ever he had the slightest thought to do it, if he spent the time, he could convince cats to do things they never would have thought about doing, doing whatever he wanted them to do. He could convince the sweetest of cats to kill. He knew how the mind worked, he's been studying other cats for years. And if he wanted to. He could drive you insane.
But his thoughts were fairly docile at the moment and he seemed to have a pleasant enough demeanor despite the fact that his eyes looked like fire and his claws were unsheathed.
At hearing the proposition set forth by Singenight, the dark tom raised a brow slightly, but it was an empty gesture because no other part of his face moved to show or let on any sort of emotion. But there was the faintest sense of a vague curiosity shimmering through him. He could be let right into one of the clans? That was easier than he thought. His gaze carefully examined the tom, reading his body posture, the look in his eyes, everything about him. He seemed truthful and yet Hannibal found it hard to believe that they would want a cannibal rogue to join them in their camp. To give them support, to control the cats and to add numbers to the rank. Oh yes, Hannibal could do this very easily, he could easily convince cats to do things at the simple unsheathing of his claws.
"Hm."
Hannibal stood now, for no apparent reason aside from maybe to stretch his limbs, his gaze flickering from Singenight to Galeslip. I'll take their deal, I can get much more information from the inside than wandering the borders. And I'm sure they'll be wanting some sort of proof of strength, proof of allegiance. Normal cats would have a hard time killing a queen, that's why they brought her. Well let's make this a done deal.
As quick as an adder striking, his paw lashed out, aiming a crushing blow to the side of Galeslip's head, one with enough force that it could nearly crack her skull and will likely send her crashing to the ground with the force, all the while his face remained neutral and emotionless, his eyes fixated at her. As soon as she's on the ground, he would pad over and stand above her, briefly pausing as he thought about how he wanted to end her, it could be quick and not so bloody, bloody but relatively quick, or bloody and extremely slow. With a flick of his tail, the tom decided on bloody but relatively quick and sliced a single claw along the front of her throat, slicing through the jugular, the artery would be punctured and spray, but due to it being an artery, she would bleed out rather quick. After the jugular has been sliced, he would take a step back, not a single drop of blood on him aside from the bit on his claw.
"I'll join your cause Singenight. And all I can say for your sake is this better not be a trap or your life and your mates will end in a bloody mess along with every cat in that clan. And one little rule, one that all cats must abide by. Do not, while ever in my presence, be rude." With that being said, Hannibal would in turn fall quiet, his gaze now focused solely on Singenight. Would the leader still want this cat with him after this eerie message and this nonchalant action of killing a queen? Or would he think better of it and simply leave the cannibal to be.

Re: WindClan Breezerock
"Singenight!" Snarled Rainsplash, horrified and furious at what he just saw, and stepped forward with a deep set rage. He ignored the pleading expression of his mate, Swiftbreeze silently begging him to not do it, to not solidify his death sentence. "I cannot allow this! I saw Eternalstar wrench Hawkstar's head from his body, I saw the Evil Era begin, and I will not stand idly by again." The blue and brown tom squared his broad shoulders and lowered his head as if to fight. "Whatever you did to Dapplestar, I know you don't deserve to be our leader and you'll only bring destruction and terror."
"Rainsplash," whispered his mate, resigning herself as well but pleading as if she might change his mind. She'd known him her know life, she knew what he was like, there was no way she could stop him. A small part of her bubbled with pride to see he truly had become a better tom, but this meant death. "I'm with you," she said, stepping besides him and glaring at Singenight. "I'm not running this time."
He looked at her, shocked and relieved, and then licked her across the brow before turning his gaze back to Singenight. "If another Era of Darkness is to arise, we're not letting it start without a fight."

Taking another moment to gaze at him so lovingly, she then returned to grooming, purring in pure happiness. After she finished grooming his shoulders she moved to his back, glancing towards him with a spark in her eyes. She took in a breath, taking in his scent and then looked towards him again. "You're amazing." She whispered those two words softly, unable to keep the truth contained anymore. "Truly, and utterly amazing..." Gazing at him, she didn't look away until she had to blink and then she resumed grooming, as if nothing had happened. Things were different between them, but it wasn't a terrible different and it wasn't a big change... They were just more affectionate and honest, and she enjoyed it. She also enjoyed what they were before. She just loved everything about him.

Rookpatch gave her a look that almost seemed to say 'Oh really?', a happy smile flickering on his lips and a look of pure joy and love glimmering in his pale green eyes before closing his eyes again and laying still to let her groom him, a steady purr rumbling through him and causing his meek body to nearly shake with it, he would need to eat soon but the thought hadn't even occured to him while he was in the company of Marigoldrise. Currently, he just wished to do nothing but stay here, he had no desire to do anything else but be in the company of her. He felt.. Safe. And loved; Rookpatch had never really felt loved in his life, his mother had disappeared when he was 3 moons old and he never knew his father, so he grew up with an adoptive mother that payed more attention to her biological kits than him. He never really had friends growing up, but now.. Now he could feel what love and affection was like. And suddenly, it almost made the world seem less scary. Now that he knew that there were things besides the constant fear of death, it almost seemed to push the fear aside to make way for the wonderful feeling of love.
Ears perking up at the compliment, the calico opened his eyes to look at her, ears flattening bashfully. "C-Cuh-Cuh-hum-Come o-on.. Stuh-Stop it.." Smiling, he would lick her cheek. It felt weird to be complimented, he's never been the one to receive them.. And now that he thinks about it, he's never been the one to give them either. He's never even though about him, his constant fear had made him completely oblivious that part of life.

{Yeah, I know, it's weird but it definitely builds on her character!}
To be completely honest with herself, Adderpaw thought that that was the end, right then and there, that he would have taken those words, shrugged it off and just went off to trick another poor cat into giving him things that he wanted, or doing things that he wanted, making them think they were his friend only to.. Sighing out, the yellow tabby only buried her face further into her tail as she started to get a hold of her sobbing, quieting down to just the occasionally hitches and hiccups of breath. She had never felt so low and terrible and alone in her life before now. All those times of being strong, shrugging off what other kits said to her, shrugging off the fact that she didn't have any friends, had come crashing down to this sobbing mess of an apprentice in her nest. What had she ever done to deserve this? Was it wrong to be confident that she would do well in life? Was it wrong to be herself despite some cats not liking how she was? Was it so wrong for her to be her? That's what it started to seem like, especially now that the one she thought was her friend was just a sneaky trickster that only wanted what he wanted and didn't care for another's feelings, didn't care for friendship, just took what he wanted and left.
But that wasn't the end. She heard a soft voice call her name from the entrance, her right ear swiveling a bit in the direction before she realized who it was. That soft voice was Pinekit's. Or was it? She didn't even know what was the real him anymore. Curling even tighter into a ball, she didn't bother answering and simply remained silent. But what he said next caused her to pause in confusion. That wasn't the voice she normally heard him use. Was he acting again, to try and mend the bond so that he could just get more benefits from her? Probably. So she simply remained silent.
As he spoke, Adderpaw quietly listened from her nest, slowly lifting her head from her paws, tears staining the fur around her eyes as they looked towards the entrance of the apprentice's den. "Of course you think of this as a game, what do you mean? You said I won. This is all a big game to you Pinekit, are you too mouse-brained to see it? A big game that you thought you would win before you slipped up. Maybe you told me on purpose, and are doing this on purpose too, mending the bond to make me think that maybe you really are a cat that could be my friend so that you can get benefits from me even longer, only to leave me in the long run. That wouldn't surprise me." Meowed the she-cat, her voice shaky with tears with a bitter note in it, an almost sort of scowl on her face. "Maybe you should put yourself in another cats paws for a second. How would you feel if I played with you, told you things, shared tongues with you and was nice to you, making you think I was your friend only to come along and say I was tricking you so I could get something I wanted. You're a liar Pinekit and you probably never even meant anything you ever said to me, it's all lies." More tears started to flow from her eyes and she gritted her teeth, looking away. "A-And to think.. To think that you were actually a good trustworthy cat that I could go into battle with knowing that you would have my back.. Starclan help me if I were deputy and you wanted to be deputy, huh?" Sniffling, she simply shook her head and laid her head back in her paws. It was clear it would definitely be an extremely hard job gaining her trust back.
