Songthorn suppressed the urge to roll his eyes, ears flattening. He sighed with annoyance and looked at his apprentice, not answering her cheeky words. The small tabby stood and padded closer to Moonpaw, circling around her as he examined her hunting crouch. "A good hunter always leaves their senses alert, pinpointing where something is. It can prove to be helpful when evading danger as well, such as a fox or a hostile rogue. Scents can tell everything that you need to know." He stopped, taking a mental note to have her practice crouching more.
The tom leaned forward and nudged her side with his nose. "Keep your body low and your tail still. You want to remain as invisible as you can." Songthorn prodded her paws, signalling to slide them closer to her body. "You'll lose balance if you hold your paws out that far. Keep them close to you; it'll help with your pounce as well, making it more powerful and accurate." He stepped back from Moonpaw and, with an affirmative nod, mewed, "Go ahead."

Fully focused now, Moonpaw adjusted her stance, tucking her paws in and lowering her tail to the ground, so it was just above it. After his nod and spoken words, the feline slowly began to creep forward, ears twitching every so often as she listened to the sound of the squirrel up ahead. She could hear herself coming closer to it, the sound of it scuffling around in the dirt ahead were getting louder.
Soon enough, she could see it's bushy tail, just through the bushes. A triumphant smile spread across her face, and she bunched up her muscles, readying herself to leap. But, still being young and inexperienced, Moonpaw completely misjudged the distance. She leaped forwards, paws landing a mouse-tail length form the squirrel. She growled in frustration as the squirrel jumped and skittered away, up to the nearest tree. She raced after it, only stopping once it had reached the tree. She placed her forepaws up on the tree, digging her claws into the bark. "Mouse-dung!!" She growled, tail lashing as she dropped back on all fours. "Mouse-brained squirrel! Stupid stupid.... AAARRGGH." The dilute tortoiseshell flopped down into a sitting position, ears flattened against her head. "I missed. It was right there and I missed it!" She growled, orange eyes glancing around to pinpoint Songthorn. She was sure she would've caught it.

they headed out the cave continued walking he kept making sweet talk with her making her blush until they got to the clearing and that's when he goes and rubs his tail along her back.

Blossomclaw walked alongside Skypelt boredly. She kept her senses heightened incase any stupid prey wandered by.

She let off a shiver and then laughed. "Hey that tickled!" she smiled, running her tail down his back in turn. Blossomclaw padded a few steps ahead so he couldn't reach her.

"i dont mean to act like a kit i'm just happy to have you as my mate" he said then he felt her tail along his back and he blushed not knowing it and then licked her ear

Blossomclae walked back to him with a smile before giving him a lick on the nose. "Oh don't worry about all that, just be yourself!"

after padding to camp they sat down and fell asleep

Songthorn found himself sighing in disappointment at his apprentice's blatant failure. He stood and walked over to her, an unimpressed frown on his face. "You missed," he said. His tail flicked and he shook his head, looking toward the she-cat. "Can you tell me what you did wrong?" Of course, he already knew her mistake, but he wanted her to pinpoint it herself. She would not learn from her mistakes if she did not know what she had done wrong. So, he sat down and waited for her answer, lips pulled into a thin line.

The dilute calico tried to keep her angry frown on her face as she heard Songthorn's disappointed sigh. She could feel herself faltering slightly, an ashamed expression passing her features for a second. She had wanted to make her mentor proud. And they were on a hunting patrol, so her missing that squirrel was terrible. And I've probably scared off all the prey within a mile radius... "I didn't catch it." She grumbled in response to her mentor. Then she let out a sigh to calm herself down, flicking her tail. "I didn't creep forward far enough, so I ended up miscalculating my leap." She mumbled, ashamed to admit it but wanting to get the advice that Songthorn possibly had for her to help her correct it. She glanced up at him with large orange eyes, not even surprised to see the disappointed look stretching his features.

"Precisely." He sat down, curling his tail over his paws. "And what will you do to fix your mistake for next time?" Songthorn tilted his head to the side, observing Moonpaw's expression. She seemed almost hilariously angry at her failure, but she was quick to calm down. Interesting.
Songthorn had to supress a snort as he looked around, noticing that she had, in fact, scared away all the prey in that area of the territory. He stood, beginning to walk away and sending a simple signal of his tail in her direction. "Let's try again somewhere else. You won't get anything here after scaring it all off with your squawking." He glanced back with a smirk before heading off toward a separate part of the territory.
