Re: Battle of the Border
The sleek black apprentice was suddenly in the midst of battle. Her amber eyes darted around nervously, fight or flight response in full swing, her claws digging into the ground below. She thought perhaps that Dawnstar wouldn't notice if she just ran circles around the battlefield, pretending to do something. Rookpaw imagined how satisfying it would be to sink her claws into someone, but then she thought about the guilt she'd feel afterwards.

Re: Battle of the Border
@ gs29513
It was common sense and thought that using speed was near useless against a windclan cat. In a way this was true for the reasons this thought was created along, in a way it was simply an ironic little trick. The little adage had been created with the idea that you couldnt out run or out dodge a windclan cat their natural skill and training would mean they were better in that area and for some it was the case. However for cats like Crowtooth, big and bulky and slower then his clanmates, that he was still good at fighting fast cats may be unexpected. The reason was simple, Crowtooth had been trained and had practiced with fast cats all his life, all of windclan had by the simple fact that they honed their skills mainly with fast cats and it was in fact the larger cats they needed special lessons to effectively take down. The tunnelers own mentor and brother was smaller and faster then him by a mile and he already had this speedy foe pinned like a butterfly on a board.
Didnt mean this'd be easy as mindless in fury as he was these tactics werent at the forefront of his mind and the likleyhood he'd get wounded in the process increased. This was proven as Shrewsteps claws tore into the leg pinning his tail as Crowtooth refused to move even with the decent claw marks in his leg. The windclan tom in fact lent more weight into the pinning paw attempting to sink claws into the tail and ground to make it even more difficult to get away large head snapping out brutally (if a tad slowly) in an attempt to bite and tear at the movement restricted tom. There was still room for Shrewstep to get away but perhaps not as much as he might want.

Re: Battle of the Border
@ Rani
Hmm, ok, this was far from ideal. While he had managed to get a nice cut going on the toms leg he didn't seem to be reacting at ALL! What kind of pain tolerance did this cat HAVE? Did he spend all day fighting or something? Well, he had reacted. Just not in the desired way, instead shoving his tail further into the ground(and stabbing several little holes in it!). This was definitely unfortunate, as his tug came to not, only succeeding in giving his rump another sharp yank. And, of course, the other cat was now going on the offensive. It was perfectly expected, but that didn't make it at all welcome. AT ALL!
While something about the tom seemed a bit sluggish(probably the size), Shrewstep was willing to bet the force of his strikes was nothing to mess with. So when the teeth snapped towards him he moved, nope, he didn't have NEARLY enough mass to be taking hits willy nilly. Unfortunately he couldn't move very far, straining backwards as far as he could(OUCH!) and when that didn't carry him far enough, swinging his paws a bit wildly in an attempt to batter the head away. Although knowing this tom.......he'd just keep going.

Re: Battle of the Border
If the skunk striped tom was more aware and able to read the feeling of his foe he'd be amused at how off guard and flailing Shrewstep was. He was out of his mind though and while he was easily ignoring the pain and blows perception wasnt the best thing, unfortunate if he was aware he'd press his advantage to try and wrap this up fast with a strong blow and move on. As is however, Shrewstep had accidentally manage to hit on a weakness that even the barbarian like fighter couldnt ignore.
The asthmatic tom had been doing his usual open mouth wheezing pants he needed to do in battle to get enough air but it could generally be explained away with the effort of his strikes or his general fury. At least at first. As one of Shrewsteps blows struck true however landing hard on Crowtooths nose (even if it didnt scratch that much or draw) and the tom had an immediate strong reaction to the sudden shift in his air intake. The tunneler reeled back just barley managing to still keep his paw on Shrewsteps tail, head pulling out of good biting range to hurt the shadowclan cat as he started coughing violently. The raspy labored coughs wracked the warriors entire body obviously causing discomfort and difficulty as he involuntarily was forced to 'reset' his breathing. In this process his grip on the other toms tail was loosened even if he wasnt quite released, if Shrewstep wanted to risk scars and bleeding on his tail he probably could pull free at this point before the windclan warrior rallied.
And he did rally, very used to managing his damaged throat and lungs and now he was even more eager to try and snap his foes neck. Repeating his mistakes in his rage by ramming his head forward in a combo as he attempted to wind the other tom by using his skull in force to slam into Shrewsteps chest mouth opening again to bite and clamp down on whatever he could. Interestingly enough completely unconsciously Crowtooths other paw raised up to balance himself (claws of course out) wildly flailing blindly to try and hook into anything he could to create leverage.
@ gs29513 (if you've got any ideas for what you want to do or what you want shrew to accomplish before Crow drives him off/timeline please tell me so we can make it work!)

Re: Battle of the Border
@ Sky13
(Oh, sorry. I understand now, I guess I read it incorrectly.)
Well, that was certainly unfortunate. But the battle wasn't over yet, she still had time to slap this cat around a bit. A small worm of 'what will Rookpaw say' appeared, before she smashed it down. She wasn't going to KILL him! She was only going to beat him up a little! Something seemed a bit familiar about him, but she pushed that to the side. There were more pressing matters, specifically, his lunge. Well, Windclan was known for one thing. SPEED!
Dodging to the side Deadpaw turned quickly, counting on the fact that he was still facing where she had once been. After all, direction changes in midair were tricky. This time she was the one who leapt, hoping to close the distance between them. Then, with a quick dropping of her shoulders she slid, hoping to slide between his legs and seize onto his tail as she emerged. Once she had the tail, well........that was going to be fun.

As the apprentice started moving Daisypaw jumped off. Dragging her claws against the apprentice. A smile appearing on her face. When the warm blood flowed from where Daisypaws claws had been, she paused, then she ran for her opponents tail. Bitting down until her the soft crack of a bone.

Leafpaws eyes spotted a shadowclan apprentice just running around. He ran after her leaping to try and latch on her back. He would never try and kill her no he wasn’t that type of cat but he would try and get her to leave. He had to protect his clan.
( he’s warrior age and bigger than most warriors just so you know )

Re: Battle of the Border
~ WOLFFANG ~
Wolffang noticed the opposing cat turn around right as he lunged, but either he was lucky or the dark gray tabby was a featherbrain. Even though he managed to turn, he was a bit slow and seemed to not be able to fully comprehend what was happening. A flash of satisfaction pulsed through the dappled gray tom as his claws met fur and flesh. Wolffang tore at his shoulder, hoping to tear as much as he could, seeing the blood welling up. He now had to move from here. All of the battle tactics, renewed with his sense of rage, came up to him again.
His opponent seemed to spring away from him and Wolffang's large paws thudded to the ground. Both cats got into better battle stances, and he was entirely ready to go on the offensive, to pin this cat down and go for the throat. Dawnstar wasn't here, but Grimhound was. If he could kill someone... how satisfying would that be? How far away his previously dedicated-to-the-code self was, where he would have wounded badly but never actually killed. This was different, so much different. But he had a feeling that this opponent would put up quite a fight.
The dark tabby lunged at him first, and some hidden instinct made Wolffang notice that one claw was headed for his throat. Instantly, he ducked his head, but let the other cat sink his claws into his right shoulder. There was a flash of pain, but he shoved that to the back of his mind. While the tabby was focused on his shoulder, Wolffang spun around and used the cat's closeness against him. His mind flashed back to the move he had taught his Clanmates during the battle practice.
Wolffang was large, but many moons of practicing with smaller cats and learning the ways of WindClan gave him an extra advantage. Sure, his large, sturdy frame didn't make him as fast as the majority of his other Clanmates with smaller and lighter builds. However, he had still been trained in how to be fast, to navigate the open moorland and chase down rabbits. In combat, it was different, but these ShadowClan cats had lived their whole lives closed in. Right now, it was Wolffang's time.
Driven by rage, he navigated himself so he flung himself toward the tom's side. He made an attempt to quickly wrap one paw around the dark tabby's neck to give himself some leverage, which would temporarily make the claws in his right shoulder deeper, but if this succeeded they should tear free. His other front paw thrust toward the tom's back, and if he got the neck and back grips, he pushed off with his hind paws. If this move worked, he could either knock the tom over or just get on his back - probably the latter because they were both big and bulky.

Another flash and claws hit her cheek. “Come at me bunny” she growled.
