Shadepaw sat, bouncing slightly as she was announced to go on a patrol. Her first patrol! She was absolutely beaming. Hearing the voice of Flintstrike call her, she ran over as fast as she could. “Shadepaw, reporting for duty!” She said, trying to keep her excitable self, but even then it seemed off. Her face and her eyes were full of grief and exhaustion, she almost looked possessed. Pushing it to the back of her mind, she just prepared for the task at hand.

➢ With the patrols that he called slowly coming together, the dark-furred deputy breathed a relieving sigh and then started to move towards where Wormbite and Moonfrost were waiting for him. However, before he got very far, his partial gaze caught the familiar sight of young Fawnkit scampering over to him. He turned his body towards her as she approached and tilted his head to the side in a questioning manner, curious and giving the kitten his full attention. He blinked in surprise as Snowleap soon noticed that there were tears in Fawnkit’s eyes as she peered up at him. Then she spoke, apologizing for what they had talked about before that dreaded battle at the cove. His heart sank in his chest as he listened to her seemingly regret speaking up about her concerns, calling him a good warrior soon after it. “Oh, sweetie, you don’t have to apologize for such a thing,” Snowleap meowed, his tone soft and gentle, “I’m proud of you for standing up and speaking out on your thoughts towards the whole situation. You should never be ashamed of that. If I could have avoided the cove battle, I would have and strived for peace like you and I both so desperately wanted.” He shook his head, showing his displease for how things turned out. “But I forgive you, if that would make you feel better. I don’t want any ill feelings between the two of us.” The young molly reminded him of Birdpaw a little. He hoped to see Fawnkit grow up and become a fine warrior.

After a bit of silence between them, the long-furred oriental watched as the young kitten reared up and touched his nose with one of her paws. The affectionate gesture made him smile and he nodded happily to her words. “Of course.” Snowleap remarked with a purr, “Now I’m sure to have an amazing day.” He bent down and gave Fawnkit a lick on her forehead. Part of him wished they could talk more, but they both knew how hard times were in RiverClan right now and he needed to do this patrol. The dark-furred deputy dipped his head and murmured a farewell to the young kitten before stepping away to join his two patrolmates by the entrance of their camp. Snowleap smiles at both Wormbite and Moonfrost. “Shall we?” He said with a friendly purr before leading the way out of camp and to the Thunderclan borderline.

Snakeheart was anxious to say the least. The after battle healing had been rough, the air tainted with loss more then any previous battle the medicine cat had healed for and that stung and brought a sense of hopelessness to the whole matter. Like the healing he was doing was for naught and that all the clan had done just hadnt done anything in the end. All hopeless thoughts that made the bitterness in his heart towards thunderclan grow. He knew he just knew the clan didnt see anything they'd done wrong and even now they were turning things around in their head to absolve them of all blame for the death they'd brought on both clans and paint riverclan as the villain. They were wrong of course, the tom knew full well by now there was fault on both sides and even his beloved clan wasnt free of blame but god the whole mindset of them being the perpetual victim and the heros of the world earned his ire more then anything else. Maybe if he had more energy he could do something about it but what little he had left (and he had so little, he was so so tired now) needed to go towards his duties. His clan.


So here he was.


The herb store was low lower then Snakeheart had ever let it get before since he took the reigns of the medicine cat position and that alone promoted anxiety in the tom. That was to say nothing of the fact that the herbs would be needed, and soon as Snakeheart didnt see the hostility fading anytime soon. As was right he supposed but nevertheless not a good thing for a struggling medicine cat.


So here he was running a mental list in his head and standing where patrols gathered opening his mouth and crowing out.


"Palehound @Rainquail Blizzardsky @Zesty Mango Brindlefeather @sid Risingpaw @Atticus Cloudpaw @Zenosourus Fawnpaw @marni Duckpaw @Mercury and Robinpaw @starry ! Gather up on me now for herb patrols and hurry would you! We need to do this quick before anymore cats get injured and we have no one or nothing to heal them with!"


The group would only get just enough time to arrive before the tom was speaking again.



"Risingpaw and Duckpaw youre with me. Were going to be heading to gather burdock root and burnet and given we need a lot of it I expect you to be ready to carry as much as you can. Ill elaborate on what they are and so what we're looking for when youve gathered up on me so dont worry yourself into a mess on that just give me a second to explain things to the other patrols and well be off.


Palehound youre taking Fawnpaw and Robinpaw to retrieve some marigold and poppyseeds which I expect will be at the sleepy thicket, its usually thick with flowers this time of year so it should be simple. Poppies are a red bloom on a long stalk with a black center, take the entire flower Ill shake out the seeds once you get back. Marigold is an orange/red/yellow ruffled bloom that grows on a bushy stalk that smells musky like wet dry grass. Hop to it and maybe pay respects to the new graves while youre there to remember why we do what we do.


Brindlefeather please take Blizzardsky and his apprentice Cloudpaw to get cobwebs. Just cobwebs. As much as you can carry. Ive noticed they tend to gather in the rocks along the lionsbeach if you want a tip of where to start and if you stick them to your pelt you can often carry as much as five at once though with Blizzardskys pelt you may loose the cobwebs in him.

Go head off now and drop off the herbs in my den once youre done, you dont need to talk to me after I'll probably be busy anyways."



Info:
-Each cat can carry 5 total herbs of any combination and I'd love it if you could all bring in at least 3 herbs even if you dont manage a full 5.
-You dont need to find one herb per post its like hunting in that way too!
-To 'report' post a herb addition post in the herb storage using my format and linking to the post of your cat collecting the herbs.
-Each person needs to do a report or it'll be considered incomplete and Snakeheart will yell at you.
-If you need extra time or to pull out just tell me and you wont be in any trouble! I never refuse these and totally get it/prefer it to just going ghost.
-Patrol reports are due on the 4th!

Fawnpaw
Oh! A patrol! Her first ever patrol! An exuberant smile graced her face as the fluffy light brown apprentice padded forward on happy paws. Her copper eyes glimmered with joy as she came to a stop in front of Snakeheart as he called the patrols. "Will do, Snakeheart!" She flashed him a grateful look for placing her onto such an important patrol. Hopefully she would be able to find a lot of... burdock and burnet, so that it could maybe make Snakeheart happier.

From where she stood she peered carefully at the tom, hesitation gripping her paws before they moved forward. "I just wanted to say... Thank you for healing all of us! You're a really great medicine cat." Another smile blossomed across her face as she nodded in agreement with herself before she shuffled away to look for her patrols partners. Palehound aaaaand Robinpaw? She knew Robinpaw was the one who had called for the cats to come to the battle, right?

But she couldn't quite recall exactly what they looked like, so for now Fawnpaw simply took a seat and wrapped her tail over her paws. She would just wait patiently for the warrior to make themselves known.

Blizzardsky quickly padded over thrilled to be assigned something to do with Cloudpaw, however he wasn't too happy to have another warrior assigned to lead the patrol. He could lead a patrol just fine he didn't need help leading a patrol. But he was going to keep his trap closed and not complain because he had an apprentice now and couldn't throw tantrums anymore.

Hearing Snakeheart call her name, along with various other clanmates, the small shecat scampered over with wide, curious eyes. It had certainly been awhile since she had been assigned to a patrol! The last time was with Shimmerbird. Cloudpaw could still remember that day. She had learned to hunt that day and had also gotten her first scar from those pesky crows that attacked them. It was also… right before Kestrelstar died. Huh. How long has it been? The young RiverClan molly didn’t really know. Time seemed to move so strangely for her. Once she saw Blizzardsky, her mentor, Cloudpaw happily bounced over to the white-furred tomcat. “Blizzardsky!” She mewed, rubbing up against his front legs and purring gently. They would be gathering cobwebs, as much as they could possibly carry, according to the stinky medicine cat. Where was Brindlefeather? Would they be here soon? She was more than ready to go out and get all the herbs that she possibly could! Cloudpaw hadn't been to Lionsbeach in a super duper long time! Maybe she'd see a crab! Maybe a pretty shell or two?

Palehound quickly padded over, ignoring the slight sting in her paws with each step. They were definitely feeling better now than when she'd done the border patrol, but given it was maybe a day or two after the other, the change was only marginally better.
She couldn't help the slight yawn as Snakeheart started, telling them their patrol designations and once she noticed Blizzardsky had also been called over, she couldn't help but desperately beg in her mind that she not be put on a patrol with him. She remembered the only patrols she'd been with him and despite only being an apprentice at the time, she had done all the heavy lifting and been the one that reported the patrol in.

She breathed a sigh of relief when she was given two apprentices to join her instead. Blizzardsky was perhaps the last cat she would ever want to be stuck on a patrol with. She'd end up attacking him if he somehow messed this up or even slightly inconvenienced her patrol.
She looked over for each apprentice and only found Fawnpaw, but sat when she didn't see Robinpaw.
She'd give the other apprentice a chance to show up before leaving, sitting near Fawnpaw, who she recognized from when she was made an apprentice at the last Clan meeting.
"I think we're just waiting for Robinpaw."

The 28 moons old apprentice almost jumped as her name was called. She blinked sleep from her eyes, as bare minutes ago, she had been resting. A... herb patrol? Hm, okay. Robinpaw's wounds weren't bothering her too much, but she had learnt to respect ThunderClan. The warrior she'd fought against... no, she was not supposed to even think about this. It scared her to know that there was war going on frequently, and Skystar didn't even seem too bothered by the losses. Maplefall - she'd promised Robinpaw that RiverClan was a safe place, in which everyone was treated like family. And she'd believed her mother, since Sunpaw and Skystar were already in RiverClan, taken in as young kits. Oh, how she had missed her brothers. Where was Sunpaw, anyways? Wait - Snakeheart's words were a lot of information to take in. She repeated them in her head. So, marigold and poppy seeds - okay, should be easy enough. The molly stifled a yawn as she padded over to her patrol, seeing that Fawnpaw and Palehound had already gathered. Robinpaw greeted them with a warm smile and a nod. Both of them appeared to be kind - she appreciated that. Maybe she was even a tad late, but she was still recovering from the cove battle, so she was unable to move as speedily as these two might. "I'm ready," she mewed, tail flicking in... was that excitement? Robinpaw had never been on a herb patrol before. This was new, and new things were often exciting! Yep, maybe that was the feeling rushing through her body all of a sudden.

Palehound returned to camp with Pebblepaw in tow and Silentpaw no where to be found with her. She gave a final thank you to the apprentice that did show up, giving her the option to tag along when she gave the patrol report or to go ahead and get some rest.
Regardless of the apprentices answer, she slowly approached Snowleap and gave a dip of her head.
I've returned from my patrol on Sedgewater Valley," she started, slowly sitting down to remove her weight from her aching paws.
"Silentpaw never showed up at any point in time, but Pebblepaw was a big help. We found no signs of trespassing from other cats, Clan or not, and nothing to signify the possibility of predators in the area and re-marked the border."

She paused, wondering if she should mention the weird, wrongly coloured little not-dead rabbit they saw. Probably, she and Pebblepaw had both smelled the strong Thunder Path scent, meaning it was possible it was a two-leg thing and they'd been in the area at some point in time.
"While we saw no other signs of two-legs in the area, there was this..... weird animal, it looked like a rabbit, but it was..... wrong and definitely not alive or dead. Pebblepaw had been the one to point it out, but the reason we believe it might have been a two-legs is because it still smelled like Thunder Path, even if only barely."
She didn't know of it was actually important, but it might be better to mention it than to not. However, she was definitely NOT mentioning that it had startled or scared her. Nope, that information was for her and Pebblepaw alone to know and she hoped the apprentice would keep quiet about it without having to be told.

His leg was healing up slower then he would like, to be honest. The tom still walked with a slight limp and preferred to keep his forepaw off the ground, but at least he could perform his regular duties. Other then that he was in pretty good shape if you ignored the forming scar on the back of his head.

As Snakeheart called for cats to meet him for patrols, Risingpaw immediately padded over. He wasnt exactly expecting to be put on a patrol, but it was no secret that the clan needed herbs desperately. So, he waited patiently for the medicine cat to finish assigning cats into groups before padding over to stand closer to him while they waited for duckpaw.
