Sagewhisker grinned as she dashed through the territory, nimbly winding in between the trees. She didn't bother looking behind her, as she knew Ashpaw would be right behind her. She skidded to a halt near a small stream, her personal favorite area to hunt. "Okay. So, this is going to be your last training session with me. I think you can guess why" she smirked, flicking her tail tip idly. She was curious to see how he would take the news.

He froze. His grey tail fluffed out at the tip, and his green eyes widened. A surge of determination and joy welled up inside of him. "Wait-- I'm gonna get my-- I'm gonna be a warrior soon?!"

Sagewhisker chuckled. She remembered when she was still an apprentice, about to do her final assessment. Stars was she glad she was a warrior now. Anyway, she grinned even wider at his reaction. It wasn't often when she got to see him with such an expression. Normally, she viewed him as being really dark and brooding, in a way, so this was kind of refreshing in her opinion. "Well, obviously! What else would I mean?" she bluntly replied, nudging his shoulder with her paw, maybe shoving him a bit to hard.

"I mean- *ahem* yeah, exactly. Of course that's what you mean." He tried to keep his enthusiasm at bay for the time being. Wait till Blackhaze hears this!

Stempaw forced herself to keep up with Doeflame as she arrived in the territory, ready to prove herself to the warrior.

Seeing the apprentices quick arrival, Doeflame stepped back. Alright. she mewed. Scent some prey, and try to catch it. Just so I can see what you need help with.

Stempaw didn’t say anything and instead stopped and scented out a squirrel and spotted it eating a nut by a tree, so she dropped into her practically perfect hunter’s crouch before quietly stalking forward, taking her time as she ensured she was down wind, before leaping forward and damn it, the squirrel ran up the tree leaving the nut behind,” Fox dung.“ she muttered in annoyance.

Good try! Doeflame mewed approvingly. The crouch was almost perfect, and so was the stalking. It was just bad luck it happened to be a squirrel near a tree. They generally spot cats and are up trees quickly. If you can, you might want to bunch up a little less before you leap, I think it might have spotted you then. But with a less wary prey farther from safety, you would have caught it easily.
