Sootflare glanced down towards the kit at his paws. 'Murder a dog? What?' he thought for a moment, before coming to the realization that he hadn't cleaned up after the patrol. "Oh. Right. No, I ran into a rogue on a patrol," he explained,"We got into a bit of fight but I chased him off."

Foxkit look the warrior up and down with a faint amount of interest. “So you didn’t finish the job? Guess that means he was either fast or strong. You look pretty intimidating and pretty fast so I’m gonna guess he was strong or you’re not the sharpest bramble thorn in the bush.” Foxkit said after a while. She was proud of her observations but chose to take the serious approach to seem a bit intimidating herself. She assumed she wasn’t successful but it was worth a shot to leave a good impression. She walked past Sootflair without letting her eyes off of the larger cat and scurried off to some trouble.

The tom had to make a conscious effort to keep his ears from flattening against his head after that first comment. He knew Foxkit couldn't possibly mean anything by it - she didn't know anything about what happened on that patrol or his thought process regarding it. Still, her words hit a tender nerve.

"We chased him off. There was no point in trying to take him down," he replied, noticeably stiffer in his posture and tone despite his best efforts,"We had other priorities."

The kit froze in her tracks and practically turned on her heels. “What did he do?” The small she-kit asked as she tilted her head and began swishing her namesake tail back and forth. She wondered what had happened to make the cat so absent minded. ‘I’ll have to be more careful about what I say’ Foxkit thought while she awaited an answer.

He took a deep breath and paused to think about his options here. He wasn't entirely sure the events of the border were something to be shared with a kit but Foxkit seemed mature enough for her age. Perhaps she could handle a little information, so long as he didn't go into too much detail,"He-... Well, he killed one of our clanmates." he began,"I'm not sure you would have known him but it was our former leader, Fallenstream, the one who came before Lionstar."

"We-," he paused before correcting himself,"I brought his body back in order to be buried. He's with StarClan now."

"but ding ding, the one and only, " he joked lightly-- trying his best to gather up his social skills and make small talk. he doubt that the tom wanted small-talk. he raise a brow, clicking his tongue. "why..?" he asked, squinting his eyes.

The black-furred apprentice rolled his eyes at Wormpaw's correction. He twisted his head to lock eyes with the grown apprentice's with a stern face of seriousness. "Just wondering," Wolfpaw answered, shaking his head. "Other than that, I heard you were making an army." its true, he could hear some apprentices gossiping about. He leaned forward. "May I join?" he whispered.

wormpaw just simply shrug his shoulders, letting the tension roll off him. he didn't mean to be so defensive but, starclan he was just hoping dirtfur would get on his paws without anymore critique from the clan. he raise a brow, somewhat taken aback at the question. then the follow up. wormpaw hadn't gotten the chance to focus on his 'army' and in all truth sootpaw would be delighted to know someone had joined the unorganized ranks. "of course. i'm going to plan a training session between the army soon so if you wish, you can attend it, " wormpaw offered.

"Great!" Wolfpaw howled. now that is out of the way, he eyed his surroundings, making sure that filthfur isn't around to hear the apprentice's gossip. "So what's the deal with your mentor?"

wormpaw should have known that wolfpaw wouldn't give up that easy. his tail twitch with annoyance, averting his pink-tinted gaze. "i don't understand what you mean?" he mew, fidgeting with his paws. it was a lie and a truth. ''he-- he's going to get back on his paws. he just needs some time, " wormpaw sighed. @Dirtfur

Wolfpaw kinked an invisible eyebrow at Wormpaw's visible annoyance of his twitching tail. He shook his head, and accepted the answers he was given. "I must feel bad for you," the black chausie lock yellow eyes onto the other's pink marbles. "having a filthy mentor, I mean." Wolfpaw thought he was lucky to have a mentor like Hazelberry. He likes how the she-cat seems relaxed and radical.
