She purred and rested her head on her paws. This was a very comfortable nest. She almost fell asleep but stopped herself. She needed to watch her kit eat then sleep before she could sleep. Especially with the recent coyote attack. Who knows what else is out there?

After a few minutes, Spirekit came back, dragging a sparrow with him. He tugged it all the way to the nest before suddenly falling shy.... He didn't know how to remove the feathers...

Spirekit nodded slowly and dragged the sparrow closer. The other queens often prepared the food before they gave it to him, so he had no experience with this. "Please?"

Rosekit sat by Leafshred, who was still unconscious. She had groomed his bloody, muddy fur not long ago, and had brought him water soaked moss. Now she waited for Rainywhisker to come check on him.
What had Leafshred tried to say before he blacked out?
