It took awhile and the work was hard continuing long into the day until the sun started to cast the world in a golden glow. As he shifted one of the final pieces of bramble into the wall so it would be very difficult to tear apart and formed a complete strong barrier he stopped to pant tired from the back breaking work to look over the cove. For all this was recently thunderclan land and their stink had yet to fade from the area it was beautiful and the tom idly wondered if the fireflies the cove was named for could still be found here at night. Maybe once the clan had relaxed and recovered they could come spend a night here enjoying this place hunting and chasing fireflies. Riverclan did deserve some brightness and to enjoy the reclaimed land.
Yes, reclaimed. Snakeheart had vaguely had the knowledge that firefly cove once belonged to riverclan but had no clue why he thought this so ever since thunderclan and the location were brought up in detail it'd itched in his mind. However, finally finding the time post battle he'd managed to confirm it by interrogating the elders for the information, not just the embellished not always true kit stories they told. Turns out he'd remembered the information correctly from a kit story in his short childhood and it was factual, Firefly Cove had belonged to riverclan once before it was taken and now it did again. Snakeheart would not let what was rightfully theirs be taken from them again if he had any say in it.
Head turning to Splashleap from where he'd been firmly packing in dirt around the base of the brambles he hummed liking the idea before critically looking up at the sky and the ever lowering sun once more.
"Those sound like good idea and doable though you might need to take the lead in construction as I have no clue what useful hides would look like. That'll have to wait for another day though the suns getting too low for my comfort and we've been at this most of the day. The cats working just with the brambles non stop must be exhausted and we do have some injured on shells I dont want to push too far. Maybe you can take a patrol out here to construct that next time you're sending out hunting/border patrols? Up too you if you need the paws I'll happily help."
The barriers around the entirity of the cove were as solid and complete as they were ever going to get for now (and it was solid, strong and very sharp looking just try it thunderclan) and there was only three gaps to let cats through the walls to the shell mine field. Sure thunderclan cats could shred their paws getting over too the gaps and slip into the cove but it'd be hard to go unnoticed both in and after the act. Plus in the event of a raid they could easily blockade those three gaps, hell it might even help by bottle necking them. If it was a big concern again coming back with a smaller group to finish things was always an option. They were as done as they'd get, time to go home.
"Riverclan! Great work on the barrier the cove will not be taken from us without a hellish fight and will stay rightfully ours! You can relax now and enjoy the warmth of the sun and a job well done, once we've had a moment to breath we can head home and sleep. Im sure whatever the hunters have brought home today will taste extra good after all this expended energy...."
The tom chuckled and sat down to look over the cat's that'd come out do whatever they wished to do, idly grooming himself of any mess he'd picked up and setting his pelt back to its normal glossy smoothness. For all he yelled and joked and snapped he loved his clan and didnt question that they were the best for a single second. They had actual honor like windclan but actually were willing to fight, they werent mousehearted cowards like thunderclan but werent stupid in cruel in their bravery like shadowclan. They were home and Snakeheart would do anything to keep them safe. The toms tail flicked as he groomed and groomed away watching the cats steadily peel off to walk back to camp and when the final one left as the sky turned pink he got up and followed.
Todays job was well done.
(Wrapping this up here thanks for helping everyone!)
