"Yes, I am a clan cat," the ghost tabby murmured in a hopefully soothing voice, the same he used for his siblings many moons ago, and he ignored his own urge to escape and think this through first. "I won't hurt you," he repeated certainly. After a moment of silence, Fallenheart crouched down, just slightly higher than eye-level with the kit and meowed quietly, "My name is Fallenheart. Do you have one?"

Nameless hesitated. This cat did not seem like the other Clan cats—as far as he knew, they were aggressive and savage, and would violently drive out any intruders. He crouched low, but something instinctive prevented him from turning and sprinting off into the undergrowth.
“F-Fallen...heart...” he repeated slowly, processing this, his voice small and raspy. He looked at his minuscule paws, trembling faintly in the brisk winter air, “I do not...no name. I’m...Nameless.” He answered slowly, offering both a descriptor and a moniker, “You are...o-one of the...shadow cats?” He asked hesitantly.

"Very good," Blackforest meowed. "Now that you have the hunters crouch completed, I want you to catch two more lizards or toads or a lizard and toad." He stepped back to give Quailpaw some space to scent, look, and catch prey. "You may begin," he said.

Heart beginning to pound, Quailpaw glanced around, trying to appear confident. He padded a little farther into the pines, stopping to sniff every few steps. It seemed as if would never scent anything until finally, a small toad emerged from the undergrowth just ahead. Quailpaw retreated and crouched in the shadows, bunching his muscles. A moment later he sprang, feeling his paws connect with the meaty body in dim satisfaction. He killed the creature and scraped pine needles over it, preparing to recover it on his way back.

He didn't have to go much farther to spot a large gray lizard sunning itself in the small ray of light that filtered through the branches. Unfortunately, this time the creature spotted him as he approached and began to scurry away. Panicked, Quailpaw pushed off, leaping after it, and fell just short-- but he wasn't about to give up. Shaking dust from his pelt he sprang up again and shot out with his claws-- hooking the lizard and quickly killing it.

He glanced up, proud. "Did you see that, Blackforest?"

"I did see that, and you did really good." Blackforest looked at the prey they got. "This could feed 4 or 5 warriors. If your tired we can end the hunting session today and go back to camp."

Quailpaw twitched his whiskers. Much as he hated to admit it, he was a bit fatigued. "Ok," he agreed, retrieving the lizard and clamping it between his jaws. "Can we hunt more tomorrow?" He began to pad back in the direction of his toad. I'm going to keep ShadowClan strong-- I'll be the best warrior I can be. Renewed vigor accompanied this thought, and his tail perked up, eager to show off his catches back at camp.

"Sure, we can hunt tommorow," Blackforest meowed picking up the toad he caught. He flicked his tail and started to go towards camp.

He almost rolled his eyes — eye — as Doetuft spoke. Wow, into the forest? He was sure that they were going fishing. Darn. But at least the trees would provide protection from the skies. The tabby crept after his mentor, wary gaze flickering up and down as per usual. He very nearly crashed into her, he wasn’t paying attention. Okay, hunting. He could hunt. Yes. Without a word, he dropped into a shaky hunters crouch. He smelled the air... mouse. "There’s a mouse over there. I can try and catch it..." With that, he slid forward, pausing after each slow step to glance upwards. Slowly and painfully he finally reached the pitiful creature and... crunch. He killed it with a swift leap and a bite. Maybe the bite was a little clumsy because maybe the mouse had heard him snap a twig? The world would never know. Prey was prey.

ashfur stopped and looked around makeing sure nobody was around. " do you see anybody?" he asked he was scared that somebody was around and would hear. " you know how i go out hunting a lot?" he asked smallthorn @Mistyfoot⚜

He listened to Ashfur curiously. "I mean.. I guess? I don't see you around much anymore," he continued. He was afraid for whatever Ashfur was about to say.

Quailpaw padded into the sunny clearing, pines casting mottled shadows on his tortoiseshell pelt. Refreshed and revived from his previous outing, he couldn't wait to practice more. He wrapped his tail around his paws, waiting for Blackforest to arrive. His mentor couldn't be far behind.

In his heart, he was troubled. Dawnstar seemed to grow more unstable every day, and it seemed as if he had lost his path. He wanted to change ShadowClan for the better but he nearly mewled like a kit. I don't know how! I can't do it alone! No one cares about me. He lowered his eyes. But it's not like I care much about them either. Sighing, he glanced around. Maybe hunting would help take his mind off more abstract troubles.
