Blackforest watched his apprentices catch. He stepped half way out of the shadows looking at Quailpaw. "Your a natural," he said. He looked up at the top of the trees as the sunlight was fading. "We should get back to camp," Blackforest meowed, looking back at Quailpaw. "It will be dark soon. Lets get the prey you caught and head back."

"Thanks," Quailpaw coughed, giving his chest fur a few embarrassed licks. He gathered up his lizard and his frog and nodded at Blackforest as he started back in the direction of the camp. It had been a good training day, he reflected. Blackforest made a good teacher.

Foxpaw opened her mouth to shout with glee when suddenly she was in the mud. She wiggled to face to Larkpaw and took a pawful or mud and attempted to smear it all over his face while laughing. "We.... are.... going... to have... to wash up." She managed between laughs.

Larkpaw hadn't been laughing the whole time. Laughing wasn't something he did. In fact, the only emotions he had shown the whole time were surprise and smugness. But when Foxpaw fell in the mud, he couldn't help himself. He kept laughing until Foxpaw smeared the mud all over his face and some of it got into his mouth. "We will have to wash up," he said, spitting out the disgusting stuff. @Snow Fox

Foxpaw smiled. "Ok. So that means if I was to stand up you won't trip me again?" She asked. Deciding to risk it she stood and shook some mud off her fur. Foxpaw licked at some of it and made a disgusted face. "Gross." She announced. @Phoenix Fire

"Depends." Larkpaw flashed a crooked grin, but he didn't trip her as he stood as well and walked out of the mud puddle. "I think I'll take your word and face as a sign and find some water to wash off in." He frowned. How would he hide it if he was wet? Or missed some of the mud? @Snow Fox

Foxpaw rolled her eyes. "Lets go to the river. We'll wash off there." She said. If her fur was still damp when they reached camp she'd say she had gone swimming earlier. "Don't worry. We'll find a way to dry off before we reach camp." Foxpaw said. @Phoenix Fire

Larkpaw nodded. "Good idea." He started off in the direction towards the river. Now that the fun was over, a little more of his usual grumpiness was coming back. The joy washed it away like the river washes away mud, but mud can come back. @Snow Fox

Foxpaw followed. She would pause every few steps to shake some mud off her paws. "At least I only ran into one tree." Foxpaw said with a small smile @Phoenix Fire

Larkpaw decided not to mention that he didn't run into any. He copied Foxpaw, trying to shake the mud off his paws. Then he tried to shake it off his pelt, with little or no avail. @Snow Fox
