She was mocking him! Swallowing a growl, Finchpaw tried to keep his cool; he figured that getting angry wouldn’t help his balance.

“Well aren’t you a master of all trades” he said dryly, eyeing the branch she was on. He didn’t like that she was looking down on him, he was going to change that.

“I don’t know how your even going to attempt that as we don’t have any rivers deep enough for that on out territory.” he mused as his eyes met hers. “Planning on sneaking into riverclan or did you just forget how borders work?”

He leaned back on his hind legs and gave a shaky jump, managing to sink his claws into the bark again, but not without a small panicked slide. He scrambled up next to her, shoving her over slightly. This wasn’t his original plan, he wanted to get higher then her, but his jump had been weak.

She hadn't been quite sure where she'd learn. Oh no, was she losing the argument? better turn the snark up a notch. Of course, it was possible for them t just leave the territory and learn somewhere out there, wasn't it?
"I believe there's rivers outside of clan territory, or did you forget?" she mewed, trying to steady herself in a casual loaf position. He had now managed to hop next to her, though with visible effort. Rookpaw's strength pretty much doubled when she had competition.
"Look who finally made it. Let's see who will last." she said, managing to sit calmly with balance.

Finchpaw carefully settled next to her, but not too close, he didn’t trust that she wouldn’t oh so accidentally push him off the branch. Pulling his legs underneath him and wrapping his tail around the branch he turned back to her, slightly surprise how well she was balancing on the branch.

“And your just going to leave our territory? By yourself? I didn’t realize Dawnstar gave apprentices permission to go drown themselves.” Finchpaw mocked. But in his head he thought about it some more. It would be good to be able to have some secret moves, something to surprise the other clans with during the next battle. Perhaps she was onto something, something that no doubt Dawnstar would not approve of.

He glanced down, they where just high enough where they wouldn’t be visible from an unsuspecting cat patrolling. This gave him an idea.

“Who care who will last up here the longest “ he darkly mumbled, “ the question is which one of us would be able to drop down on someone walking below and scaring them the most. “

As her unfortunate companion settled onto the branch, Rookpaw was horribly tempted to push him off and watch him suffer but decided against it. Her mind was a little devious like that sometimes.
"In case you have, once again, forgotten, I'm not going alone. That would be foolish. i have a mentor." she mewed sarcastically.
She listened to his ides. he amber eyes widened a little, a small spark lighting up in them.
"That's devious...I like it! I sure hope someone does." she mewed, looking slightly excited now. Her anxiety immediately gripped her. Wouldn't that be so awkward, though. You could get in trouble. And this cat will probably trick you. he'll tell you to scare them and then let you take the blame! But for once, Rookpaw wanted to have fun!

Wouldn’t want to miss you failing around in the water. I would have believed you more if you said you were sneaking out to try it. “

Just as he finished there was a snap of a branch below. Finchpaw’s eyes shot back down. It was Sootshadow. The tom seemed to simply be talking a walk, there was no indication of him being focused on hunting or patrolling.

Stupid Tom, thought Finchpaw. He never saw that warrior do anything productive. The lazy tom would most likely not even realize that it was them who would scared him if they did jump.

Without making a sound he judged Rookpaw. “There’s someone!” He sneered quietly. “Would you like to go first or should I?”

"By the sound of it, my idea to learn swimming has in fact been to your liking. It seems you're too shy to ask. I could ask my mentor to take you, though then the skill wouldn't be so rare, would it?" she replied snarkily. She looked down, dead quiet as someone approached. Some warrior. Her sharp ears quickly picked up on him. Then came the important decision. What was wiser? Have her show off since they might not have a chance or risk getting tricked by Finchpaw and taking the blame.
"You go ahead, see how well you do." she mewed. She realized he'd need to drop directly onto the warrior, otherwise he risked breaking something.

Finchpaw felt his ears flare in embarrassment as she called him out.

"It will be rare as I'll be better at it. So much so that your poor attempts of swimming wont even count!" he hissed quietly.

That was it, she was getting on his nerves and he was about to do something to shut her up. Without another glance at her he focused down on Sootshadow who was just about to be below him. He had to go now, and he had to get it right. Failure was not an option for only his ego, in the back of his head, Finchpaw knew he could hurt himself if he didnt do this right. Just as Sootshadow was walking under Finchpaw, let himself fall forward. He kept his body stiff through the fall, not allowing himself to panic. He landed square on the shoulders of the black tom with a small grunt escaping his mouth. Sootshadow's legs crumbled underneath him and he fell onto his stomach with a yowl of surprise and terror.

"What in the -" was all that managed to escape Sootshadows mouth before the wind was knocked out of him.

Finchpaw scrambled to his feet and shot into the forest, making his escape. Just a little ways away let finally let his laughter ring free. He had done it! Oh good it felt! He wondered what kind of face Rookpaw was making, she surely hadn't expected him to make it. Still laughing he slowly make a round and headed back towards the tree, keeping out of sight incase Sootshadow was still around.

Sootshadow layed on the ground immobilized. What was that?! what had even happened?! His ribs hurt and he winced as he pushed himself back up. Glancing up into the trees he squinted. Was Thunderclan attacking?? But if so why would they just leave him there. Embarrassment and confusion surged through him as he decided that it was simply best to just head back to camp. He turned around with a huff and began padding back, keeping his eyes locked on the trees.

Rookpaw had a smug look plastered on her face. He just wanted to learn how to swim! She shifted her gaze from the cat below to Finchpaw, yea, that was his name, she finally got it right! Heh, he looked more scared than whoever he was going to scare. She looked down. It was a long drop...Oh no, now she was nervous. Finchpaw suddenly dropped down. She watched the whole thing transpire. She stood completely still and silent. Don't see me, don't see me! He didn't. Pfft, Finchpaw was having fun. She looked downs for her own victim, a little nervous.

Finchpaw was settled a little ways away from the tree that he and Rookpaw had been on. If he squinted really hard he could make out her silhouette between the leaves. Would she do it he wondered. He waited silently, hidden between two bramble bushed with a good view of the clearing below the tree.

Snowberry smiled gently, slowing down to walk just ahead of the tom. "Okay- Hound. You can call me... Flopear." she giggled at the name, her folded ears low against her fur. "You know, if we're doing nicknames here." she took a deep breath, giving a contented sigh.

"Do you like it here, in ShadowClan?" she asked softly, glancing back at Hound. She hoped she could at least make things better for him. He just had so much rage boiling beneath his pelt. Snowberry wondered what had happened - what fueled this rage so readily? She hoped, whatever it was, it could be quelled. Getting to know Hound - however much he let her see of himself - Snowberry couldn't help but want him to be happy.

Eclipsepaw ☾ @Dahliamoon

The marsh was different. Eclipsepaw felt his paws sink down in certain parts of the ground. Watching frogs and other prey dart away in fear of them being caught and eaten. Like their friends, their families, their peers. But Eclipsepaw didn't care much. He didn't care about much, though. He'd lost the feeling of 'care'. The sympathy, the grief, the pain of losing a family member.

Because the only cat he saw as family destroyed his life. Watched his own son almost drown over and over by the bigger cats while they laughed. Then the fight happened. The fight that broke Eclipse lost and ran away from. That made him wonder why his father even renamed him Eclipse. A hound was a mutt, a horrid creature that was to be killed, but an Eclipse was something rare, something beautiful. Why would his father rename him that if he didn't care about him? His thoughts lingered with pain, his torn ear from the fight he had as a kit was giving a irritating sensation.

But he picked himself up mentally as he looked at the molly that brought him, his jaw barely open as he muttered softly in genuine dismay and confusion; "I don't understand. I don't understand.... why would he..." His thoughts were suddenly all over the place, his anger he always felt melted into sorrow, fear and...

He was being a kit. Always being a dumb little kit! turned away from the she-cat. Flopear. Name. The name. Her name. Flopear. Okay. "Okay. Flopear. Thank you for the name. I..." He trailed off, his feelings and mind losing touch. Then panic almost struck him like a badger doing it's killing blow to his chest, and he screeched.

"I DIDN'T MEAN TO!!"

Te took one breath, the another, blood roaring in his good ear.

Then he fainted, his body going limp as he fell to the ground.
