Finchpaw let the water hit him but he scooped up some mud in his paw and threw it right at Rookpaw in response. He was fuming and he could tell she loved it.

“Why in Starclan can you never get my name right, ” He said dryly. Giving his pelt another shake he padded back into the water to try to wash of the mud.

Letting the water float around him he sank to his shoulders, letting a rare moment of silence form around them.

“It’s actually quite nice” he huffed.

Hehe, Rookpaw liked yo get under cats' skins. She could be rather annoying if she tried. Or if she didn't try to contain herself. Cats didn't really....like her too much. Annoying Finchpaw was fun and she'd never admit it but sometimes it hurt that she only could communicate with others when arguing.
"I know your name, Failpaw, I just find ones that suit you better." she mrwed as she skillfully dodged the mud flying her way. Finchpaw was back in the water now.
"Hmm..yea, it is. I really wanted to learn how to swim. It seemed fun and I also wanna learn how to do anything!" she mewed and lifted her paws off the bottom, floating.

Finchpaw rolled his eyes in annoyance.

“ Failpaw doesn’t work, I didn’t fail in the water as I didn’t drown. Get more creative,” he stated.

He let himself raise his paws from the stream floor and slowly began paddeling. The first few paddles he felt a spike of panic as his body launched downward but as he sped up his leg movement he found himself paddling rather strongly in a circle.

Letting out a happy yowl, he kept at it.

“Those Riverclan cats have nothing on us now!” Finchpaw declared proudly as he kept doggypaddeling back forth in front of Rookpaw.

He stopped after a second, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

“Well come on, hurry up. We can have a race from one side of the stream to the next one you finally get paddling.” He teased good heartedly.

It wouldn’t be much of a race but it was enough for another competition.

Rookpaw's ears perked up at the mention of competition. She started paddling as well. Her spiky fur was now droopy and full of mud. Normelly she looked like a pile of black spikes but now she looked more like a weird black skeleton in water. She flailed her paws quickly, soon getting the rythm of how it worked. Her chin was barely above the water as she tried to outswim Finchpaw.

Finchpaw caught a glimpse of Rookpaws appearance and burst out laughing. She looked like someone had groomed her down so well that not a hair was sticking up from her sleeked body.

“You look like a newborn kitten!” He snickered as he waited for her to get the hang of the doggy paddle.

As she neared him he gave her an malicious look and then yelled, “Okay race to the other start 1,2,3 go!” he took off, paddling as hard as he could.

If she could play dirt so could he.

Rookpaw hadn't exactly expected this but she was pretty much next to him so it didn't hinder her that much. She paddled after him, her chin hurt a little from having to be pointed up all the time. She paddled rather gracefully but not as fast so she remained second for now. She didn't look that ridiculous...did she?

Failpaw, ya right! he snickered to himself as he drew closer to the stream-bank. Feeling his paws touching the streamground, he gave himself a push, starting to bounce to the banks rather than swim.

As he started exiting the water his long red fur clung to his body, making him look like a mop.

He turned excitedly to see where Rookpaw was, his eyes gleaming.

"I'd say be both have a way to go, but at least if we ever find ourselves gently teleported in some calm water we wouldn't immediately drown." she said sarcastically.

Finchpaw cracked open an eyes and gave her an uninterested look.

“If we could teleport I wouldn’t be here.” He stated matter of factly.

Stretching his paws a bit he flipped to his side, letting the sun hit his soaked fur from a different angle.

“But don’t worry in the case where we would be in more troubling waters I’m sure if you begged enough I’d save you.” He closed his eye and let out a sigh.

The sun was hitting him just right spreading warmth from his head to his tail.

He wondered whether Finchwhisker was wondering where he was.
