Sootstar retreated from older tom's touch, instead shaking his head and away with it the feeling of dread clawing at his throat.

"I appreciate the assurances, Firehawk, but it would do you best not to waste your breath." he replied, not meeting his gaze as he gathered himself together again, "You were a queen's before, yes? Do you intend to return to the same role or would you wish to return to the life of a warrior?"

"That's... it? You like water? You want to be helpful? Tell me, Fierceclaw, how does this benefit you? What reason do you have, after living as a loner, to want to 'help out a clan', as you put it?"

The rest of the group didn't seem keen on stepping forward after Petuniapaw's plea and so he focused on her and her alone for the time being. It seemed she regretted her choices, understood the weight of her actions, and truly wished to return home, "Very well them. Go and find yourself a nest. I'll see about assigning you a new mentor at the next meeting. For now, get yourself reacquainted with your clanmates."

"As for you two," He continued, turning to Wolfpaw and Eagleflower, "Do you have nothing to say for yourselves?"

The empathy he felt for the younger tom had swayed little with Sootstar's response, and Firehawk shook his head. "Truth is never a wasted breath, Sootstar. You should have more faith in your father."

As for his role in the Clan, Firehawk let out a sigh. "I wanted to be a queen. I was a warrior so long, I couldn't imagine .. resigning from serving the Clan.. but I couldn't keep up with the kits. I tried - it was too much and the kits deserve a better caretaker than someone who can hardly make sure they're staying safe."

By this point, he had averted his gaze from Sootstar completely. In some ways this was the reality he always wanted to avoid - accepting he was no longer fit for the majority of Clan duties. "The whole reason I became a queen is because I was struggling to do patrols, to hunt. I'm no spring chicken, Sootstar.. when I joined our Clan, Fallowstar was early into her leadership." It felt like several lifetimes ago.

".. If you'll have me, I think becoming an elder would be the best choice. I could try to kitsit for the queens, perhaps we can have more of those elder stories days?" Even if he couldn't do traditional duties, he could try to educate the youth. He could -- help them, like Sunpaw.

"I have faith in him." he replied flatly, "But I've already had one parent disappear. Simpler to not get my hopes up, hm?"

"In any matter," he continued without pause, "You've been a standing figure in our clan for a long time and it would be remiss of me to turn you away now, regardless of what state you find yourself in."

Sootstar offered Firehawk a sly smile before tossing his head over his shoulder and shouting towards the clan, "LIONSTORM! COME GET YOUR DEAR OLD DAD SETTLED IN THE ELDER'S DEN BEFORE I DRAG YOU OUT BY YOUR SCRUFF AND MAKE YOU."

Fierceclaw looked at the cat. He smelled strongly of fish as all Riverclan cats did. One day though, she would smell like it too. "Well, I would be a good benefit to this clan. I can fight really well. I can swim fast and I know how to catch fish for the clan. I will always be loyal to Riverclan no matter what. I would do anything for Riverclan, even if nobody would do that for me." She meowed.

Fierceclaw thought about it. Why did she want to join Riverclan?"Well, it will benefit me because I will have something to do to take my mind off things that I don't want to think about. Being a rogue is stressful anyway. Your always by yourself. I need to socialize with other cats. Joining Riverclan will make me see the good in life and why you want to live and enjoy it." She meowed. She had not prepared what to do after she came here. What was she expecting anyway? To have a warm welcome with a nice, cozy nest?

Petuniapaw felt a huge weight lifted as she was allowed to stay. She wasn't getting kicked to the curb to never again see RiverClan and be a rouge who would forever be alone. The molly was determined to not make Mister Sootstar regret his choice. She would work hard and become a dependable, useful warrior of RiverClan. "Thank you so very much, Mister Sootstar." She thanked him. The ginger and off white patched tabby was sad that she could not get Mister Ms. Sassyfire back as a mentor but she figure they already had an apprentice.... if they where still around. But, right now she was going to go find Blizzardpaw and Sugarapple and maybe Mister Mss Sassyfire would also let her hang out with them. She had missed all of them so much.
Dipping her head to Mister Sootstar the molly would head for the main part of the clearing, towards the apprentices den. Petuniapaw was going to get to know everyone again and fix her mistakes.

"I hope you understand that clan life is not going to be sunshine and rainbows. You will have jobs and responsibilities. You will have to provide for the clan, go on hunting and border patrols, you may eventually have to fight to protect yourself and your clanmates and lose your life in that process." Fierceclaw didn't seem to understand what they were getting into. Sure, there was some security afforded as part of being a clan member but that did not mean is was always a life of ease.

"I will not have slackers in my clan."

"Very well then." he meowed, "Welcome to the clan."

"Unless you have any objections, your new name will be Smallpaw. That over there -" He pointed to the apprentice den with his tail, "Is the apprentice's den. That is where you will sleep from now on. You can set up a nest in there. I will assign you a mentor at the next clan meeting."

Fierceclaw stayed calm even though she wanted to scream at this cat. He thought she didn't know that? She had been keeping her siblings alive when they were rogues! "I know that. I promise I will protect and do everything for this clan until I join, what do you call it? Starclan?" She meowed.
