Perhaps his luck was turning around. Since he'd decided to participate in this challenge he'd been rewarded with successful catches, and no as he set his sights on a den of mice he couldn't help but quietly chuckle. If this was some sort of joke that those dead cats were playing on him... Regardless, the tom slunk forward, keeping his body in line with the hunters crouch he had perfected moons ago with Graytail. Gotcha, he thought as he slapped a paw on the mess of mice tails, using his other unsheathed claw to finish off the job.

Mice dangling from his jaws, Kestrelwing dropped them off on his pile.

Ghostpaw tracked quietly through the tunnels, relying on scent now. After several frustrating minutes, he picked something up. Warmer, warmer, there! He pricked his ears as shuffling from a creature too small to be a cat was heard. He crouched down and slithered forwards, deciding it was too small of a tunnel to stalk upright, even if shadows didn't matter. Another squirrel? What was with this?
He brushed it off and pounced, landing squarely on it's spine. He picked up the limp body and headed back out. He was definitely proud to have caught two pieces of prey already, especially since he'd never really hunted before. But he wasn't one to brag and instead focused on the task at hand.

Brighttalon didn't need any more permission than that. To cheat, and to go. He wouldn't cheat unless necessary, but if it did come to that, he could be very sneaky. He ran towards the tunnels, and slowed once he was a little away from other cats. There wouldn't be much prey by the entrance, due to the large amount of cats frolicking about. He trekked deeper in, his senses alert for prey.

Slinking down a random tunnel, Berryscorch perked her ears, alert for any sign of prey. She'd attempted to stay as separate as possible from others, figuring there would be more prey where there were less cats. And she was led to believe her assumption was correct when the scent of a mouse quickly wafted towards her. Following the scent trail, she spotted the tiny rodent sniffing around the floor up ahead. And to her disappointment, it was rather... tiny. Just one measly mouse? Seriously? She knew she could do better than that. Still, it would count for something, so of course, she was going to catch it.

Sneaking up on the miniature creature, the molly pounced briskly, landing on top of it and delivering a swift killing bite. It somehow seemed even smaller now that she was close to it than it'd appeared from a distance. Ugh. After a short grumble to herself, she decided not to let her time go to waste, took the mouse up in her jaws, and wandered off into another section of the tunnels. Hopefully, there would be some better prey in store over here.

Wandering down one of the tunnels, Baypaw had absolutely no clue where in the world they were going. After rounding a corner, however, a small flash of movement quickly caught their eye. Poking out of a small hole in the ground a few tail-lengths away was a tiny tail. Oooh! Prey! Rushing forward, their eyes widened as a decently sized rat came crawling out of the burrow. Before it could get too far away, they eagerly pounced forward, surprising themself by slamming both paws down on top of the rodent and finishing it off with a killing bite. Wow! Their first prey! It was a bit beat up since they hadn't really known how to kill it immediately, but that was okay! After all, they'd caught it all by themself!

In their excitement, they failed to notice a duo of rats creeping up from the burrow behind them. Pain abruptly shot through their side as the rats chomped down on them. "Ow! Ow! Ow! Get off me you stinky rats!!" Whipping around, they managed to slam their paw down on one of them, but not before the other one had gotten at least five bites in. As the other rat scurried away, they let out a hmph and picked up the two they'd successfully caught, continuing down the tunnels in search of something that would hopefully be a bit less likely to bite.

Littlemist spat annoyed as his scent trail went cold. Nevertheless, he wouldn't give up. He continued his hunt.

Sparrowskip nodded and went into the tunnels. He seemed to catch the scent of a vole and followed it silently. He'd been so used to fish so this would be refreshing to catch!

Amberpaw nodded, and took off for the tunnels. She tried breaking off from the group and searched for prey after she figured she was far away enough. She scented a mouse soon enough and followed the scent. Soon enough she saw it. She crouched, remembering the techniques that her mentor had taught her. It was pretty small, but it was prey, and that was what mattered. She pounced when she thought she was close enough, and managed to catch it. It wasn’t graceful by any means, but it was her first catch, and she was immensely proud of it. She took it in her jaws, and decided to bring it back out right away, dropping it into a pile.

The cat bounded forward, his small legs causing him to fall behind a bit. He frowned and furrowed his brow, lengthening his strides. He wasn't going out that easily! He skidded to a halt, looking in a large tunnel. With one, two, three shaky breaths, he plunged forwards into the darkness. His whiskers brushed uncomfortably against a wall, and he smelled.... was that....! Mouse! He dropped into a crouch and tried to stealthily move forward, hoping to catch the small thing. And also hoping his nose wasn't deceiving him.

Heronflight padded back into the tunnels to find some more prey and came across the scent of a vole. The molly kept quiet and stalked towards it. She jumped, catching it in her paws. As she did so her lower eye got in the way and she ran right into the wall. Heronflight shook her pelt and listened as the vole scampered away. Oh well can't catch them all, she thought before looking for some more.

Their attempt at catching the rats? It clearly and very easily failed and Eelpaw was unable to help the sigh of irritation. They wanted to win of course, but then again they had to make sure that Primrosepaw was safe... but she seemed to be safe so far, so therefore... they would just continue to hunt to their best of their ability and hope that that was enough for them to have any luck. So lurking further back into the tunnel, they probed around looking for any sign.
