Boulderpaw rushed foward, pawsteps silent, avoiding any and all things that could alert her prey to her presence. Bloompaw watched in awe at how efficient she was. Why was the molly an apprentice? She was certainly even old enough and skilled enough.
She leapt upon the mouse, killing it before it knew what was going on, before it could squeak, alerting the forest and ruining their hunt. She swiftly returned to Fleetwind.
Bloompaw looked back at the ground and tried to think about what it looked like and bent down to sniff, maybe there was fresh smell??
Any smell was long gone, it seemed, or at least stale.
"It's not been by recently. It's old. But the feet are big, almost as big as my own paws."

Very good job Boulderpaw! Fleetwind mewed, as the young molly returned efficiently with the prey. As Bloompaw went on about stuff AFTER mentioning the stale scent, he flicked his tail a bit dismissively. If it's stale, we're certainly not going to catch it. Now, since you haven't been hunting before, let's practice the crouch. she had to do that before she could catch anything, that was for sure. Figuring Boulderpaw would get bored, he mewed Since you seem to be quite good, why don't you try and catch something on your own? Sort of like a mini assessment. Turning again to Bloompaw and sliding into the hunter's crouch, he told her Stretch out your front legs, and get low to the ground. You want to carry your weight in the back, so you can pounce quickly. @Rainquail

Well, why don't you give it a try? Then we can fix up anything that needs fixed, or try something new! Fishfin purred, rolling his shoulders briefly. For some reason he was a bit...stiff. Not that he was old! He was a young, fit tom! At least that was what HE thought. @Shadeleaf

Boulderpaw exhaled, grateful to be allowed on her own.
"I will be sure to stay within hearing range."
She murmered and disappeared into the undergrowth, stalking as she scented for more prey.

Bloompaw looked up at Fleetwind and nodded, lowering his body closer to the ground. It wasn't close enough his belly would drag, but the way he bent his legs would only hold him up would for so long if he started moving.
He noted this as his legs started to ache, and began shifting his legs trying to make this more comfortable.

Sounds good! Fleetwind nodded to Boulderpaw, before returning to the awkwardly shifting Bloompaw. The tom had his hindquarters a bit too low, and he wasn't supporting enough weight on his front paws. It didn't ALL need to be on the back legs. Giving Bloompaw's butt a tap, he hoped to shift the crouch a bit further forward, to be more balanced. @Rainquail

The Calliby ducked beneath the fronds that covered the entrance to the cave. The orange leaves brushing her head. "The training cave." she announced as she padded further in. Normally it was bustling with Warriors and their Apprentices. But it was silent, nothing more than the echo's of dripping water bouncing off the walls.

She swiveled on her heels and looked behind her at Forestpaw, ears perked and leaning forwards. "I was going to teach you how to hunt a little more but. Fighting was the one thing we didn't briefly cover while I was showing you around. We also didn't visit the Training cave either. So, today I will show you the basics of fighting." she explained.

Sageflurry tilted her head to the side. "Are you prepared? Or would you rather we start with hunting?"

Pinepaw just sighed and crouched, keeping clumsily to the mice. She leaped weakly, landing onto a mouse tail. She bent down and bit the unlucky rodent.
"I guess I'm not completely useless." she mewed through a mouth full of fur.

Pinepaw looked at the mouse. It did taste good and she hadn't eaten today.
"Sure." she said coldly dropping the mouse between them and taking a small bite.

Great! Fishfin chirped, plopping down and taking an imaginary nibble. With a perhaps overdoing it gulp, he purred It's great! Have some more! Shoving it over, he licked his whiskers. @Shadeleaf
