It had been a while since Echoedash had emerged from the camp. Her legs were tight, her fur was ruffled, and she had gotten so annoyed by the apprentices muffled remarks about how she was a ‘lazy old elder.’ She was not an elder and she would not be treated that way. She was barely 16 moons old for Starclan’s sake! It wasn’t even her fault, she had gotten severely scratched when an old ‘friend’ had pushed her into a thorn bush. Well, at least that is what she told people. The truth was that Echoedash had simply ran into the thorn bush when she was racing the friend...

Wow, she was starting to become a grumpy old elder.

She finally had enough of it and just swiftly got up and walked out of the camp. She stretched her tan-and-brown striped legs. She yawned in the fresh air, sighing it out with pleasure of being outside again. Her first order of business was to finally be able to sprint around without knocking into someone. She gazed around quickly to take in her surroundings, feeling immediately at peace with herself again. She realized that she hated being cooped up. She needed to run.

And so she did.

She bounded alongside the river, her fur shifting back and forth in the wind. Her eyes shone with the freedom the of the territory. It felt great. She felt great. She ran and ran, until she finally came to a halt next to a towering oak tree. She sat down for a breather.

‘God I love Riverclan.’

Shadebounce heard the she-cat, "Are you okay?" He meowed

She looked away about to cry then the braveness hit,"I uh erm I do!" She mewed covering his face in licks then backed away,"I'm so so sorry!" She whimpered

Echoedash whipped around, startled by the new voice. She took in the new cats features quickly, never being one to stumble over appearances. Her sense of peace was gone, as the new cat had obliterated it. She wanted to hide, needed to hide… No. She pushed her anxiety aside. Was she shaking, she felt like she was shaking…

She stood there like an idiot for what felt like forever. She forced her grey eyes up to meet the other cats. She took a deep breath, blinked and spoke in a voice barely audible. “Oh, um, h-hi..”

If she had less control over her body she would have just run but she had dealt with the deepening threat of social anxiety since right before she was apprenticed. Her mind was stupid, always going to war with her body.

But then again this was an achievement. It was an achievement that made her want to facepaw herself if she could, but it was still an achievement.

Birdsong made it a split second faster than her "we could go find a cave or hollow tree." He chuckled
