Swallowki-paw was shaking. She had been so nervous she wouldn't get to this point. She felt tears well in her eyes as she stared up at Pikestar, who named her mentor as Flintfang. She turned to the cat, the one who she had just spoken to and declared her friend, and padded to sit beside him. The feeling she was having was... surreal. She was full of mixed emotions, and was trying to figure them out when a certain silver kitty came to talk to her.
silverpaw
Silverpaw chanted the new apprentices names, one of them who she could now train with! She padded to the tiny calico and nudged her slightly. "Welcome to the crew, kid! I'm Flintfangs other apprentice, Silverpaw!" She gave her brother a small look with a smile on her face. "He may look scary but he's a huge nerd, so don't you worry about him one bit."
Amberbright moseyed out to the edge of the clearing where the bulk of her clanmates had gathered. She took up the chant with them just in time, "Swallowpaw! Roanpaw! Mudpaw! Crowpaw! Fishpaw!"So many new apprentices, perhaps the winds are changing. The old calico could not help but feel hope brimming under her mottled tricolor fur. She gave herself several swift licks, as in the light she could tell her fur was particularly messy this day. Amberbright felt herself clinging to that hope, pleading for it to be true. There had been so much stress and worry lately. She knew life was rarely so cut and dry, but it didn't change her feelings on the matter. She would still dare to hope.
As her amber eyes danced over the freshly renamed trainees, she allowed a soft purr to escape and the mirth of the moment to overcome her.
A smile crossed the black tabby's face as she heard the new names resound from her clanmates and from Pikestar himself. That was the only thing she truly hated about her condition, being unable to join in the welcoming tradition of calling the new names to the sky. Oh well, she'd find someone to be her voice someday. Instead, she let her gaze look over the new apprentices. They would make fine warriors someday. Maybe one of them will even be leader someday, moons from now, when my sister and I are old and gray in the Elder's den.
The thought of that gave her a warm glow in her chest. Now if only she could motivate Wolfsong to overcome her current state. As she considered her options, Moonfrost turned her attention back to Pikestar.
The lilac queen smiled warmly then joined in the chants to congratulate and welcome the group of young apprentices into their new rank, ” Swallowpaw! Rowanpaw! Mudpaw! Crowpaw! Fishpaw!” Times we’re scary outside of these walls and the now-apprentices would face hardships that Doeheart didn’t feel were as prevalent while she and her siblings were growing up but that was why they were training to become warriors. And each ceremony was for more than just the cat receiving a new rank, it was to reassure the entire clan that Riverclan was growing stronger and they would persevere through it all.

The small calico heard steps behind her, turning to see a grey cat standing behind her. He smiled at her, and she just continued to stare, silent. Smile? Why? What do I have to smile about..? Why did he call her squirt? What does that mean??? The small kit furrowed her brow, looking confused. "You're my friend now." She mewed bluntly, before turning back around.

I'm Flintfangs other apprentice, Silverpaw!" She gave her brother a small look with a smile on her face. "He may look scary but he's a huge nerd, so don't you worry about him one bit."
Grinning mischievously at Swallowkit before she turned away, Flintfang settled down in his spot and wrapped his tail around himself. Apparently he had a kit-almost-apprentice friend now, not that he was opposed to it. She'd seemed too nervous for his liking, and at least she was taking his offered support. Speaking of support, where was the kitten's family? They ought to be here ... Unless the calico in front of him didn't necessarily have a family. Sage orbs softened slightly. Ah, Flintfang knew the pain of missing loved ones. If that were the case with Swallowkit, he wanted to give her all that he could offer.
When the time came around for Pikestar to announce mentors, Flintfang was fully waiting to see who Swallowkit's would be, so that he could pull them aside later and make sure they were someone amiable. What he hadn't expected, however, for he himself to be named a mentor. The mentor to Swallowpaw? Who in the blazes-- Oh he was an idiot. The woven smirk on his face only managed to further widen with amusement. What was he going to do now, admonish himself? A chuckle rumbled through his lean figure, and Flintfang turned mirthful eyes on Swallowpaw, who was now accompanied by his own sister.
An eyebrow rose, and Flintfang puffed out his chest, adopting a look of mock outrage at Silverpaw's words, butting in before she could finish. "First of all, I don't look scary in the slightest. It's called being impossibly good-looking." Rolling his eyes skyward, Flintfang was basking in the glory of his momentary win when his sister continued on. "A WHAT?" The grey tabby tom asked, openly gaping. "I am not a nerd!" He protested hotly, all but pouting for effect, and then eyed the two apprentices with suspicion. "This is unfair, you can't team up against me."

In his, almost, daze as he began to process everything, look cast out in front, partially listening to the continuing meeting. His ear flicked when a warrior came up to congratulate him, to which he gave a polite nod before turning away again [ @Silvershadow13 ]. Somewhere he heard the recognisable voice of Littlepaw scream out - you could say he almost felt embarrassed (as if that showed), but... He couldn't seem to find irritation in the scream this time. It felt... Different, much like Cricketsting's pun, albeit the usually lethargic tabby didn't pick up on that. He merely looked their way, giving a nod as his gaze lingered on the two for a brief moment before Bluebellpaw came up to him as well [ @SpiritedWarrior @Dirtfur - Thank you ]. He cast his gaze down on the younger molly, giving her too a nod of thanks. Hah, he wasn't sure how to handle all these congratulations - it rarely happened, who could blame him? [ @lonely.lilyx ]
As the meeting continued, he looked back up to the dark-furred leader, most notably when the new shields got announced. A quick look over those selected, and the now former shield chanted the names along with the rest of the clan. While he wasn't very familiar with Raccoonear or Fogcloud (other than the ex-RiverClanner's situation just now), he did recall Moonfrost stepping in with that one intruder; one of the few who had their head on straight during that moment. Thus he didn't consider the three bad choices. Following the newly appointed shields, were apprentice ceremonies. Here it was kits getting promoted, their excitement was often unparalleled (and tiring, when they began screaming or bouncing around).
Littlepaw was very proud of her mentor, or who would become her former mentor as soon as she got her ceremony, which would surely be this meeting. When his eyes laid on hers, she dipped her head, acknowledging the new deputy. Slatewhisker probably didn't know Gingerfrost, but she was probably proud of him in StarClan. Shortly after the news of Gingerfrost becoming deputy passed through the whole of RiverClan, the small cream tabby stood up and began chanting the new names of all the apprentices.
"Swallowpaw! Rowanpaw! Mudpaw! Crowpaw! Fishpaw!" she joined Pikestar in the chant to welcome all the new apprentices. There's so many! I don't remember the last time RiverClan had this many apprentices, but I'm not complaining! One of the new apprentices was soon to become Cricketsting's ( @Dirtfur ) responsibility. Casting a glance at her friend, she silently congratulated the tom and stepped back so that Fishpaw would have plenty of room to sit next to their new mentor ( @Darkclaws ). She caught wind of Pikestar's attempt at a pun and chuckled quietly. Not bad for a beginner!

(Didn't mean to quote you Zen, sorry!)
Reedwhisker's attention was brought to her brother as he comforted the nervous kit, Swallowkit, who was called up to be an apprentice. Although she didn't expect her brother to get another apprentice, she was quite pleased and proud of her brother ( @Kat ) for being able to do so. Looking toward her littermate, the dark brown warrior nodded in congratulations before turning her attention back to Pikestar, letting Silverpaw, her little sister, torment their brother. To the warrior's surprise, she too, was getting an apprentice during this meeting. Memories from the back of her head flooded into the front: Nightpaw had been reassigned as her own apprentice and her promise had been broken when Nightpaw was dragged into the camp, dead. This time, she would not make any promises to young Rowanpaw ( @judas ). Not until she had passed her assessment. Dipping her head in thanks for this opportunity- this redemption- Reedwhisker tucked her tail closer to her for Rowanpaw to sit down beside her new mentor. Everything else was a blur to the young warrior as she silently wished for Nightpaw to sit on the opposite side of her, but alas, that would never happen again. Reedwhisker quickly wiped away the water coming from her eyes and paid her attention to the meeting once more. Raccoonear, one of RiverClan's newest shields, had received an apprentice too. Cricketsting, the resident prankster of RiverClan, was getting an apprentice: Fishkit. W-was that a pun? Well... okay then! she chuckled slightly, amused at the older tom's attempt in a pun.
"Swallowpaw! Rowanpaw! Mudpaw! Crowpaw! Fishpaw!" the young warrior yowled, chanting the names of each apprentice along with Pikestar and RiverClan. StarClan is gifting us with many apprentices, I shore hope they can all become warriors- oh dear StarClan, I made a pun.

The molly took a deep breath, relaxed by Pikestar's reassurance. Her eyes shined wide as she gazed back at the clan, taking into consideration everyone that had supported her through this rather rough time. The molly tapped her paws, wondering what warrior she'd be taught by. She listened carefully, and soon her eyes widened with suprise. Reedwhisker had been a mentor to another apprentice prior, Nightpaw. The cat had met an unfortunate end, and Rowan's head once more swelled with anxiety. Would she even be able to protect me? What if something happens to me in battle?! Her thoughts swelled around her, infecting her head with her fears once more. Rowanpaw tried to push the thoughts back, forcing a smile on her maw.
As the rest of the ceromony continued, Rowan looked towards the other cats. She glanced at Fogcloud, flashing a anxious smile at the warrior. She was happy that the other cat was there for her, considering their last interaction was rather intense. The apprentice tried to push the worries away, reassuring herself with their words. {@oleander}
As soon as her ceromony concluded, she anxiously walked over to Reedwhisker. Her face turned down, duel colored eyes watching the dirt beneath her paws. She once again felt so small, sucked in a sea of excited kits, clanmates chanting her new name. Everything seemed so overwhelming, as if she was being sucked into a never ending ocean.
Her eyes shined up at Reedwhisker, plastering on her fake happy expression for the cat. Rowanpaw moved her her spot, sitting next to the cat for the rest of the ceromony. "I'm excited to learn all you have to teach me," She mewed. Rowankit turned her head back to Pikestar, waiting for the rest of the announcements to come.
