They were almost to the shallow water on the other side now, and Splashleap put a bit more power into her strokes, pulling ahead of Stripepaw. She was hoping to egg her apprentice on a bit, get her moving a bit faster. Her ears flicking about, momentarily distracted by a rustle, she snapped back to the pond, and swimming, as she dipped lower in the water. With a little huff of excitement, she called Race you! before powering forward, legs pumping. She figured she might let Stripepaw win, if she did well. If not, she didn't want to have to fake it. But if her apprentice could almost keep up, she might let her win. Might. @Ikoria the Wolf Pup

Stripepaw looked at Splashleap as she challenged her. Hah! Nobody ever challenged her, for good reason! She furrowed her brow and let out a low grumble as she used all her strength to power her legs. She was breathing a little heavily. She never had to try this hard against her other denmates! She was normally always the fastest! But her powerful legs could barely match the legs of a warrior.

eel? eel. dayheart appreciated the wholesome apprentice. he needed to spend some more time with eelpaw!! he was sure they’d have a fun time. sure, maybe they’d only had one brief interaction, but dayheart wanted to be friends. he needed more friends, anyway. he always needed more friends! “eeeeeel. d’ya wanna trainnn?”

“we can, like, have a jolly swell time and it’ll be great and you can learn unless you don’t wanna learn in which case this will be learn-free except there’ll be some hidden learning because i can’t prevent the learning — you don’t choose the learn, the learn chooses you — and like y’know it’ll be great and everything and we can have a jolly swell time but i think i said that already but like you get the idea.”

“but also like if you don’t wanna train that’s also like totally valid and cool and i don’t wanna pressure you i was just wonderin’ if you wanted to like chill and learn stuff because learning is cool i think unless you don’t think it’s cool in which case it’s still cool to me but like i won’t force you to learn stuff because that would be uncool of me and i wanna be cool and also like you’re cool and i talk in run-on sentences but it’s okay!!!”

wheeze. he was out of breath. so many words with such little breaks between. it’d become a skill, a habit. breaking things up into sentences and giving himself a chance to breath? pfft, dayheart didn’t do that. he hoped eelpaw did that, though. dayheart was pretty sure it wasn’t healthy not to. “so. uh. yeah. yes? no? maybeeeee?”

With a pleased grunt as Stripepaw accelerated with seemingly good pace, Splashleap added power to her own stroke, but made sure to stay abreast of Stripepaw. At least until they were almost on the shore. At that point, she could probably just hop out, scamper out of the shallows real quick, and declare herself the winner. That was one advantage of being judge and jury after all. Feeling her paws touch the bottom, she pushed up, lunging out of the water sending spray everywhere. A few more leaps, exaggerated by her small size brought her to the shore, where she paused, panting. Taking a deep breath, she managed to huff Good. Job. Stripepaw. You. Swim. Fast. At this point, she really didn't care how stupid she looked, all sopping wet and tired out. It was all in good fun, right? @Ikoria the Wolf Pup

Stripepaw heaved herself to shore and padded up to Splashleap, panting. Her muscles ached. She had never had to try this hard to win a race! She shook her pelt and laid down. “Thanks, Splashleap,” she said. She was very tired, but she was still proud of herself after being complemented by a warrior!

Eelpaw wasn't quite sure how they ended up here. They'd been kidnapped in some ways by Mr. Crazy and now they were here. Away from their safety figure of nice guy. Goose. Goose was nice guy. Best guy. Not anything like Mr. Crazy, Eelpaw had somehow ended up around and they didn't know how still. It seemed Mr. Crazy wanted to teach them though and well... they loved Goose and all but sometimes it was nice to be training with someone, as long as Mr. Crazy didn't decide to just... vanish. Like everyone else. But Goose and Half. They didn't vanish. Would Mr. Crazy vanish? They couldn't help but wonder about it and ignoring Mr. Crazy's run on speech - because who could understand that? Eel couldn't - they walked up to him and sat down and then poked a paw him. "I've got. OnE. Thing. You," poke, "CANNOT," poke, "LEAVE!" poke. Hoping that they'd possibly gotten their point across they looked at the pond and then around and then back to Mr. Crazy, "Can you... can you teach me how to hunt maybe? I want to know how to hunt. BUT MY FIRST REQUIREMENT STILL STANDS YOU CANNOT LEAVE." If Mr. Crazy left, abandoned them, Eelpaw would not hesitate to ask Goose to accompany him to Mr. Speak Loudly, and file a case against Mr. Crazy.

Why don't we head back to camp? Splashleap suggested, figuring Stripepaw was just as tired out as her. You can grab some fresh-kill, and get some sleep. Because tomorrow, they were going HUNTING! She knew the clan needed warriors, judging by the fact some had two apprentices, and she wanted to HELP! And prove she wasn't a bozo! All good things in her opinion. Being a bozo was not on her bucket list, nor was getting in trouble. And she figured hunting with Stripepaw..........filled all those requirements. So would battle training, but she figured in the grand scheme of things, hunting was more important. Realizing she still hadn't moved, she turned with a quick flick of her tail and a mew of Well, enough of my thinking, let's head back. Moments later, she was striding off towards camp, her fur already drying in the small breeze. @Ikoria the Wolf Pup (I'll start the next one today)

Stripepaw clambered after her mentor. She was tired, but she couldn’t let Splashleap know that! So she tried her best to slow her panting and keep up normally.

The russet molly caught sight of a silver shine in the water as an averaged sized fish Swam close, her tail stopped and she narrowed her eyes before lashing her paw into the water and snagging the fish out onto shore.

She quickly made it to shore and leaned down to bite the fishes neck buuuuuut instead she got a nice slimy tail slap to the face, she flinched and blinked a bit surprised. Before she quickly tried again and bit it’s neck, ”ow.” she put a paw to her face and shook her head, she felt kinda embarrassed.

Foxblaze padded around, catching a coke and two fish by the pond earlier had gotten her a bit tired. “Foxpaw! Foxpaw come on let’s go!” She called trying to get back to camp.
