Walking into the clearing, Bloomingblaze had a realization. "So! Forget what I said before." She said to Mistpaw "'lmost forgot 'bout the current rules in place when it comes t' goin' out. So, we'll be doin' battle trainin' here in camp instead."
She does like the first lesson to be hunting, buuut you can't always get what you want.
Fishkit nodded her head as she turned to lick her cream colored paws as she washed her face cleaning off the prey that was left on her maw as she nodded her head. Fishkit looked back towards rookfire “ Ehh it doesn't bother me too much, but it makes me smell weird in the nursery against the warm milk smell she told with a small flick of her tail she didnt like being in the nursery for too long it felt too confined too small it just made her fur stand on end thinking about it. Changing her thought to rookfires question about her eye she spoke “ Its fine i can still see out of it, Uhh both of them to be exact” she told her eye was closed for a few days after she snuck out and got nightshiver hurt, fish still felt bad about that and probably would till her final breath. Fish could care less about her injury, hers didnt matter, at least not to her.

Suppressing a frustrated growl, Hawkpaw turned to face the new medic, smiling.
"Yup! All good!" She cheerfully assured him. Were medicine cats usually... This good at pointing out whether something was wrong? Nah, she bet other cats were great at it, too! Like herself! She felt her smile falter for a moment, but managed to bring it back, her tail twitching uncomfortably. "Why?"
when the pale tortie noticed him i was kind of like a switch was flipped, she turned towards him with a smile he couldnt really figure out was honest or not, none of the apperant pain leftover in her body language and he briefly questioned his own ability to correctly observe and make assumptions. until she gave him vocal 'comfirmation', light grey eyes narrowed at hawkpaws cheerful reassurance that everything was fine, not buying it for a single moment and letting that be openly communicated in his expression for once. on one paw, he kind of understood not wanting to worry anyone and trying to avoid treatment for that reason, alongside the trauma one might connect with the medicine den or strangers as a whole (hawkpaw had been gone for many moons after all), but on the other paw, and far more relevant for now, he knew very well that nothing would get better by just waiting. perhaps he couldve saved his eyesight if i wasnt for his refusal to look after himself before everyone else was treated, perhaps not. whatever the reason was for hawkpaw, rookfire would try to get to the bottom of it, even if that meant handing off her treatment to mossfreckle due to a lack of trust in the medicine cat apprentice and former riverclanner. "looked like ye were in pain n i thought id at least offer my possible assistance." he replied casually, not yet making use of his 'do you see this eye, im blind because i didnt go to the medicine cat' (as if that hadnt been him). honestly, he didnt really like bringing that up in the first place but he'd sure make use of it to hopefully ensure another good warrior for shadowclan that wouldnt have to retire early due to untreated injury.

Venomkit felt a shred of guilt once Rookfire mentioned the hard work that had been put in to build this wall..oh....she didn't think of that..but she hadn't done anything and surely they could rebuild it! Moving her intense amber-green gaze to the side, a flash of in indignation was evident as the kitten heard the last few words. "I can make a wall! I'll make it way more cooler than dis one!" she bragged, puffing her chest out proudly. She was the best wall maker, no doubt!
Dark chocolate ears perked up as the medic continued, offering her a compromise. Battle against Riverclan? None lf her siblings knew about that! No way they did! Ooooh, they'd be so impressed when she graciously bestowed her wisdom on them! A chesire grin spread out across the toygress' face, eyes widening. "Deal!!!" she scooted closer, staring avidly at the tall cat. "Start talking!"
~ BRIARSPLASH ~
stocky, large, & fluffy dilute gray tortie she-cat with goldish-green eyes; just a scratch
[ shadowclan enforcer | she-cat | 28 moons | abrasive, standoffish, loyal ]
~
At first Briarsplash snorted in amusement at Hillstrider's suggestion of keeping the mouse skull as a trinket; a mouse, of all things? The smallest and most pathetic of catches? But something about how earnest he was... even her abrasive self couldn't find it in her to be too scathing about it. If anything, the fact that he was the supposed 'gift-giver' and was offering this... well... a single mouse skull would be better than nothing, right...?
"Heh, yeah, sure... maybe I'll keep it," Briar grunted in her rasp, glancing down at the mostly-eaten creature at their paws. She had said it mostly sarcastically, although part of her felt oddly compelled to follow up on that request, her tone slightly edged by consideration. If not just for the fact she'd finally gotten something from... well, somebody. Even if it was the exuberant warrior who stuck out like a rose in the middle of tangled weeds.
As Hillstrider rambled on, repeating himself, Briarsplash couldn't help but notice that every time he looked sheepish for a moment, realizing a mistake or blunder, he'd snap back a moment later. It was a bit jarring, quite confounding, and perhaps a bit... intriguing. Which wouldn't be the first time she'd thought that about the orange-furred warrior. For half a second, when he was being asked if he was from ShadowClan or not, the shadow across his charming face really made Briar think she might've dug up some buried feelings and got Hillstrider to feel something other than bright and lively. But it was gone as soon as it came, and she only blinked blankly at first, registering his flip-flop as she listened along.
Letting out an amused huff, Briarsplash gave a nod of acknowledgement as he mentioned he'd gotten that question before. Unsurprisingly. And he seemed rather self-aware. "Joshin'...?" Briar echoed under her breath, raising a brow in confusion over the unfamiliar word, but Hillstrider (without a care or thought in that head of his, from her view) kept going on as if he never noticed. But at his question, the she-cat grimaced a bit, shifting uncomfortably; but she had no right, did she? She was the one who'd brought up Clan heritage in the first place.
Fluffing out her pelt as if that would help hide the uncomfortable twitch in her fur over the topic, Briarsplash glanced around before, rather stiffly, shaking her head once. "Uh... no. I'm not from ShadowClan, so you wouldn't remember me. I... joined many moons ago, when I was probably around an early warrior age... just came by one day and was... taken in." Her voice was tight when speaking about the topics, not fond of the memories it brought up, nor the state she had been in when she'd joined; weakened, bleeding, freshly having kitted, malnourished and exhausted... practically dropping at Dawnstar's feet. To this day, she'd never told the full truth of what had happened prior to her stumbling into the Clan, desperate and at her last resort. And she didn't plan on changing that.
Clearing her throat, Briarsplash's eyes narrowed, glossing over those details as cleanly as she could in her head. "...But I'm still as ShadowClan as the rest of you, no doubt. If it ain't in my blood, it's in my heart and my claws," she assured sharply, not necessarily towards him, just the reminder of her non-Clanborn roots. That had gotten her some teasing back in the day when she'd been newer, and the insecurity had bubbled into a sort of ferocious rage and fuel to prove herself more than anything else. Now anyone who doubted her loyalty would earn a swipe to the face—
Ahem. The Enforcer was getting riled up simply by the thought of that, and forced her thick fur to lay flat, giving a huff while her skin burned hot under her pelt. Briarsplash briefly glanced away from Hill's piercing yellow eyes that reminded her of dandelions and sunshine as they held her gaze.
Sleepysunrise
[ 13 moons | She / Her | Shc Enforcer | Shadow Fiend ]
Blink. Blink. Duskpaw seemed upset. Strange. Rookfire showed up, too. He didn’t look like he enjoyed the show either. Why? She knew Duskpaw had been talking nonsense to Hawkpaw. They were… Arguing. And Sleepysunrise didn’t like arguing. So then, why did Duskpaw suddenly seem upset at her? The enforcer looked at her with a gaze you could almost call clueless or condescending. But Sleepysunrise didn’t like Duskpaw’s answer. It made her feel things in her chest she couldn’t place. Not grief or sympathy, even if the enforcer wouldn’t know. Anger.
Rookfire spoke first, the words streaming by her on near deaf ears. Her mind was lazered into Duskpaw, unsettlingly bright gaze locked on the apprentice. It was sad to hear of his loses, perhaps it shone light on why he left the fish in the first place, it reminded her of Darkfall’s loses. The stranger. She blinked, again, strangely often for her doing. Even Rookfire mentioned mama and the little apprentice-sized molly considered the facts. She knew mama had trained Rookfire. She had thought mama preferred Rookfire. Rationally speaking mama didn’t, but even Rookfire addressed the topic in such a way the thoughts couldn’t be avoided. They resurfaced, pushing the temples of the she-cat in manners that made her head hurt.
“She wasn’t.”
The enforcer finally stated, mater-of-factly. “She was… Your Great aunt. At best. But mama... Never called Cougarbite cousin.”
In that regard, if she considered familiar ties, she would almost think Rookfire was family with the way the fish hung onto Mossfreckle’s baitless hook; mama had been close to the more experience medic, she knew their ties to be strong.
“Oh.”
She stared on, reminded of Duskpaw’s revelation on her lack of presence. She tilted her head. She spoke of herself in the past as if she had changed, which puzzled the feline who had seen no changes in her. Other than growing louder. More disruptive. “You are slow.”
She confirmed to herself, pondering those words. “You should… Be nicer. And train.”
That’s what Nightshiver told the kits, right, to be nice when they argued? She found Duskpaw’s statements to have little sense. She should be nicer to her sister. She was here now. Sleepysunrise flicked an ear. Had it been Hawkpaw grieving Cougarbite’s disappearance, it would have made more sense. Hawkpaw was gone up until recent, was she not? Or had she been slacking too?
Her eyes settled on Duskpaw again. “Tomorrow. Sunrise.”
A blank stare bore into the apprentice as she stated those words; a clear intention to assess Duskpaw and see where she had gotten over the past five moons. If she had been here all this time, the enforcer deemed it an utmost oddity that Duskpaw was still untrained as she seemed to be. Not a warrior assessment, mind you.
With nothing more to add lest the apprentice continue her show, Sleepysunrise’s gaze shifted over to the newest medic who seemed both keen and evasive of his role. She couldn’t quite place where Rookfire stood.
rookfire let sleepysunrise handle the interpersonal stuff, simply listening and standing by, this was getting irrelevant. its been irrelevant for a while now and it started off irrelevant but he wasnt really super into waiting around and wasting his valuable time listening to them fight about who was whos family and who wasnt. how did that matter at all? perhaps it was because he hadnt been with his parents for a long time before they died, merely a kit, never had any extended family, or anything comparable, but it just didnt appear relevant at all to him, no more than..genetics bounds, nothing that actually mattered as far as social connections went. how did parentage or being someone cousin or aunt or whatever different genetics connections there were make up for the connection one had to build with a friend or loved one before being able to consider them as such..? besides that, for all he cared duskpaw could continue moping as long as she stayed silent, stopped causing trouble and attacking other apprentices for seemingly no reason. not even the lack of training or engagement around the clan he would be alright with ignoring as long as she just didnt cause trouble, dawnstar or mistlewhisker would sort it out soon enough. was that a bad choice? probably. but he wasnt quite here to make good choices now was he?
he wouldve brought up training them as well, but sleepysunrise came first, offering words far kinder than his own wouldve been, he wouldnt have told them to be nicer kindly but just .. perhaps intimitated her into listening, not really the guy for soft words and understanding emotions in the way some other cats were. "'m with ya on that, count me in" the medicine cat apprentice invited himself into the training session, unaware that this would possibly not be met by enthusiasm but suspicion by sleepysunrise. in his mind his duties extended to this and further, anything he had ever been ordered to do and more.

Oh wow. The weather was sure getting colder by the day. Which Silentpaw did NOT like. At all. He shivered slightly, curling around himself at the edge of the clearing as he attempted to shield himself from the gentle yet chilling breeze.
The tortoiseshell tabby tom couldn't help but flinch slightly when Rookfire had joined him, shifting to look at the Medicine Cat Apprentice. Aaaaaand there it was again. A non-yes-or-no question. He frowned internally, refusing to actually show the emotion externally. He went over several things in his head, to make sure whatever he said did not seem too... Strange.
"Good." was all the young tom replied with, flicking his bobbed tail and shrugging. Almost as if he wasn't truly sure what he was talking about. Hopefully that summed it all up. Then came another one of those questions Silentpaw so dreaded. Hm. How to answer...
Silentpaw wasn't aware he'd been silent for a... Painfully long time after Rookfire had asked the question. Haphazardly searching his mind for something to say, he blurted out, "Uh- m-maybe."
...
Dammit. He hadn't been meaning to say that at all. Would have been much easier for him if he'd just... Dunno, shrugged or something. Silentpaw cursed to himself, turning away from the dark-furred cat to the ground.
╚══ ≪ °❈° ≫ ══╝
rookfire hadnt really expected a answer in the first place honestly so the simple 'good' was a positive in his books, choosing to believe the younger tom without any complaint or second thoughts. even though it felt like his business it wasnt really his responsibility to keep track of every apprentices training and he trusted newtbelly would be a good mentor to silentpaw. the warrior had been rather active around the clan, never negatively standing out to him at all, the opposite really. given he wasnt worried about silentpaws training at all the dark furred medicine cat decided he wouldnt worry the apprentice any more after getting his second question answered, rather planning to disappear back into the medicine den to escape the cold gusts of wind. silentpaws second answer as stuttering and delayed as it was had him internally cringing in second hand embarassment, only solidifying his previous plans. "ight i wont bug ye any longer, let me know if i can help with anythin'" he excused himself with a small smile and a nod, unwrapping his striped tail from around his white tipped forepaws before standing up. rook lingered a bit longer, giving the apprentice the opportunity to stop him from leaving in case he needed something from him before he leaned down, stretching out his legs and back and padded along the edge of the clearing towards the spot he usually rested in in front of the medicine den, not just get going back inside to let cats at least see him be present.

Hawkpaw widened her eyes in a mock surprise.
"Me? In pain?" She let out a nervous laugh. "No way! You probably saw wrong. Not like I'm doubting you or anything!" She brushed the ground with her tail, quickly standing up.
OH. OW.
That was a mistake. The pale tortoiseshell winced as she got up on all fours, but tried to hide it by giving her pelt a violent shake, which ALSO proved to be a mistake.
"Oh. Ow." She muttered under her breath, scowling. The apprentice turned away from Rookfire and began to inch away. Maybe if she was slow enough, he wouldn't notice!
