Dreaming of a Dusklit Hound [Closed]
[ I have received permission to do this roleplay! ]
[ @Romulus so you can read this c: ]
She felt... warm.
Like she was being embraced by something-- or someone.
Duskstar blinked open her eyes to see familiar firey fur. Wait-- why could she see out of both eyes? Why wasn't half of her face burnt? The concern didn't last long, fading into a dull curiosity as she came to focus on the slumbering form next to her. However, as she raised her head, the other seemed to stir with a faint chirp.
"Morning, my darling Sunshine," Houndsong purred, a fond smile on her lips. Duskstar felt her heart flutter in her chest at the nickname, pelt flushing with heat. She blinked and looked around. Houndspirit was curled around her, soft fur pressed against her own. The position felt... nice. Right. Like she was meant to be cuddled up to Houndspirit. Subconsciously, she felt a smile pull at her lips, tail twitching in delight.
Houndspirit leaned forward and licked her nose, pulling a quiet squeak of surprise from the calico. Duskstar pouted as she laughed.
She then blinked and the scene seemed to change, instead moving to the two pressed side-by-side next to Sunkissed Creek. When had they gone there? It didn't matter for long as her attention was drawn to Houndspirit's tail wrapped around hers, a purr rumbling in both of their throats.
Houndspirit's fur was so... soft. Her body was warm. Her scent was lovely. She was gorgeous. Her entire presence... it was wonderful. Duskstar couldn't help the grin that graced her lips. She rested her head against the other's shoulder, nose burrowed into firey fur and ears tickling the other's cheek. Houndspirit's giggle sent a swirl of butterflies to her stomach and she sighed, an unfamiliar feeling sparking in her heart. She didn't know what this feeling was but she didn't want it to go away.
In the corner of her eye, a flash of grey caught her focus. Duskstar's head raised and she stared toward where it had appeared, but by the time she looked, it was gone. She frowned in confusion, but Houndspirit's voice brought her back.
"Droplet, is something wrong?"
"No- No, I just thought I saw something," she mumbled in response, returning her snout to sweet-scented fur.
Multiple calming heartbeats passed before Houndspirit spoke up again.
"Honey, she began, causing Duskstar's head to raise, "...wake up."
She tilted her head. Suddenly, a chorus of birds began to sing, growing louder and louder with each passing breath.
"What?"
"It's time to wake up."
The birds were deafening now, causing Duskstar's eye to fly open. She raised her head with a low groan, a dull ache in the side of her face. Ah. Right. She was burned.
Her thoughts replayed the dream in her head, heart thumping against her chest. A warmth settled over her and she found herself wishing to feel that softness against her once more. Wait. No. Why was she thinking that? And what had that flash of grey been?
Shaking her head and attempting to push away the thoughts (and faint sense of longing within her), the calico stood and went on with her duty as leader...
...though maybe it wouldn't hurt to pay Houndspirit a small visit, just to check if she was doing okay. Yeah! Perfectly reasonable. The she-cat had been injured just as she had, after all. Duskstar still needed to thank her for rushing to her aid.
There was no other reason. Not at all.
Just a friendly visit as her Clanmate.
Nothing else.
Nope.
... It was going to be difficult to get that dream out of her head.
