Sleepysunrise
[ 14 moons | She / Her | Shc Medicine Cat | Shadow Fiend ]
A rush of cold air covered her back as the young cat watched her grandmother step away to leave control to her right paw and see them off, ShadowClanner after ShadowClanner soon drifting away from the gathering. Strangely, the cold felt more biting seeing them together. She stood up in turn, eyes scanning the crowds to find Silentpaw, a hard stare locked on his back for several seconds as if ensuring he wasn't running away right here and now. She didn't pay much mind to the WindClan bunny asking to come along, even if her fur fluffed up on instinct - outwardly a simple act against the cold, inwardly a sign of discomfort and distrust in face of stranger coming along. When Dawnstar came to loom over her, Sleepysunrise was sure to stay near her. She didn't like having that stranger with them. He seemed weak, anyway. Or dumb. She couldn't tell which.
Her eyes turned to Lightningstorm with mild surprise when the older medic addressed her, her head tilting in obvious confusion as her brows knit. She observed the medic's grin in an almost analytical way, her face contorting awkwardly as she tried to copy the weird expression. It looked more like she was barring her fangs, however, and Sleepysunrise was quick to drop her head so they would stop regarding her face, expression turning back into neutrality. Something nagged at her mind, mocking, it whispered in her ear, and Sleepysunrise flicked her left ear in turn. Mocking you. Her lips pressed together but the dark feline forced her face to remain calm and not contort any further, turning her gaze to observe the interactions between the WindClanners. Frankly, she was almost offended on Twilightstar's behalf for the way they were speaking to her.
She cast a glance at her grandmother. "I do not think you old."
She decided to whisper to Dawnstar like a safely kept secret, quite blankly, a simple fact to her. She was unsure why she felt the need to say such a thing, but she recalled that Dawnstar and Twilightstar had been leading their respective clans for many moons, and the little cat would not let her grandmother be talked down upon by proxy of the other leader being called old. It felt like her mind lagged; just like that Twilightstar was leading them into the unknown, and Sleepysunrise remained protectively close to her grandmother. Her paw gave a twitch as thoughts filled her mind and the cat realised she still had to speak to her grandmother on the matters of her teachings and -- her mother -- faildead -- her gaze narrowed slightly. She had wanted to earlier, but between leaving for the gathering and the presence of these strangers she hadn't the chance yet.
Coldpaw
[ 4 moon | She / Her | Wc Tunneller Apprentice | Heightened Perception: Touch ]
Coldpaw had been feeling well, spending the gathering cuddled up next to mumma, nice and warm and able to hear the announcements clearly without the overwhelming sounds and feelings of shifting sand constantly beneath her paws. That is what made it such a shame when the gathering came to end (although she had started to feel tired) and her mother decidedly would not come with them. Coldpaw scowled in protest, staying put for some time as she listened to the leaders and deputies convene. Really, if mumma wasn't coming home now, she wanted to come along too! And the young apprentice had half a mind about speaking up and declaring she would be joining them. But as she rose to her paws Coldpaw managed to get caught in her own fur and trip over, a reminder of precisely why she wouldn't be able to join them, and the lilac apprentice was left brooding. She tried to give her mother a hug goodbye before she was forced into the crowd and stumbling along with the too fast pace of her clan mates back to camp.
Hah. Well that was uneventful. He'd hoped something would happen between the feuding clans, maybe Riverclan would get a paw to the face again. But no, talk had quickly shifed to the StarCave. He supposed it was important for the medicine cats. T?hey must do... Something StarClanny. Though he had no idea what. The tom shrugged it off, skuling behind the rest of ShadowClan. He'd certainly be happy to be home.
Okay. She grimaced. That was mega BORING. Well, asides from Bumblestar getting all angry. That was actually, uh, she hated to admit it, but, she'd been a little scared that a fight would break out. Not that she was worried, surrounded by all her clanmates. RiverClan, she supposed, must be dim. No one in their ight mind would take any chance to rub Bumblestar the wrong way. And with Spiderthroat as deputy? Don't make her laugh!
Anyway, she didn't get a response from whoever she was pestering. Whatever. It hurt a bit, but she had to be... . Too cool for them! Yeah. That was it. She picked up her damaged ego, and trotted along with the rest of ThunderClan.
"Yeah he deserved it. He deserved worse than what he got, even. But I still shouldn't've done it." Salamanderpaw seethes. With everything else going on, she's gotta learn to keep her trap shut tight sooner than later. It's just—hard.
"Alright. When Owlstar starts putting together a patrol or whatever's gonna be helping out, I'll make sure we get to go." She picks at the ground in anticipation. They're not young-young, they're not total dummies, they're cool and strong and useful...easy sell, right? Right. Salamanderpaw's certain they'll get to both help out. Because she says so. So there.
Riverclan! Know that Cobwebstorm will be removed from 'er position 'cuz of 'er actions. I'll further discuss the matter once we hit home.
Hhhh...yeah, that's probably the smart thing to do. Whatever Cobwebstorm's got going on, if it ever happens again with another Thunderclanner, they're all doomed. And if any of those worms has some kinda real vendetta, they could very well just lie and say she visited them, too. You don't have to prove a dream. She just wishes Bumblestar wasn't here to hear of Cobwebstorm's impending demotion. Her or any of them. Wishes it wasn't the last thing said before Riverclan left for the night. Here you go, Thunderturd, you got what you wanted because you tantrumed hard enough. Shame on them. Shame on Riverclan. Just...shame. How long will they have to slink around on eggshells like this? It's beyond frustrating. She gets it, she does. But. Rrrrghhhhh!!
"If Starclan does anything, anything at all after we dig their useless butts out of the rubble, I hope they send those rats another plague." She hisses lowly, finally standing and giving Seapaw's shoulder a small bump. "C'mon, we're going back together. Stay close, I got you." She puffs up and squares her shoulders to prove it, but in the moment she looks no stronger or livelier than most of the Riverclan crowd as they trickle out. Just that kinda night.
Hmm. Well, at least he deserved it, still, it looked like it was eating Salamnderpaw up, "It'll be okay," he gave her a little nudge in the side. "He shouldn't have done it either, whatever he did." He wasn't sure his words were very calming, but it had to be better than nothing.
Cobwebstorm was getting demoted? He couldn't help but let his nose wrinkle - that seemed unfair. How could they even prove that dream stuff anyway? Maybe the apprentice lied, or maybe they're all lying, and it's a big scheme, or maybe there's another cat that looks like - or, or it was just a fake dream - or - he had to stop himself. He knew that was far less plausible. He'd known long enough that yes, RiverClan make mistakes. But if everyone makes mistakes, surely that makes it unfair to demote Cobwebstorm? Ugh. Whatever.
They had to stifle a gulp at Salamanderpaw's response, though. Still they shook it off, huddling close to her. Who cares is that was a bit far - right? Now they'd have to make it out past all these weird cats, and all the way back through territory at night, and that seemed far worse than Salamanderpaw saying something a teeny tiny bit extreme.
She sat next to the...ThunderClan warrior? Yeah, he smells like brambles. Yeah! I'm always excited! She awkwardly says. Oh, I'm Sparkbreeze! What's your name? She said with a bright smile. I haven't seen you around. Probably because I'm not that observant. She chuckles.

Oho, so that was the game she wanted to play? Fine. Also why did she sound like a dude. Eaglepaw snorted at the insult, shaking out her fur to dislodge some snow that was stuck in the ginger fluff. "I've done quite well, actually. Reunited with my father."Lost him again."Made new friends."Abandoned them for a clan that doesn't learn."Served a purpose. Saved cats."Useless, useless."Decided to come back because I realized my loyalties still lie with the clan that raised me." She shrugged, watching as Twilightstar finished up announcements and called the end of the Gathering.
Eaglepaw's eyes shot skyward, tail tapping the ground behind her in annoyance as Minkpaw insisted she didn't want an apology. Well what did she want then!!!!!! "Then why did you bother to sit next to me?" She asked bluntly, irritation worming under her skin and making her voice sharp. "It's sweet that you still think of me after all this time," Eaglepaw's face twitched up into a gruesome smile, half her maw shredded and exposed, emerald eyes burning with a wicked fire. "But I'm not into traitors. I wish you well, I really do. In the end, maybe we'll see each other in the Dark Forest. Until then, Minkpaw." With that, Eaglepaw turned to join the growing crowd of RiverClan cats, ready to head home.
It was only after Minkpaw was out of sight did Eaglepaw drop her facade, calm nonchalance dropping into red-hot anger. Ugh, the audacity!! What the hell was her problem?? HOW Eaglepaw had managed to remain calm and collected that entire time, she had no idea. Eaglepaw's tail lashed back and forth, her ears pinned back as she stared at the ground as though she could reprimand it like it was that self-serving, arrogant, narcissistic, clan-hopping, lily-livered asshole who did nothing but beef with apprentices and look stupid!! UGH!!!! Eaglepaw needed to scream into a moss nest immediately!
"ive served shadowclan as both an enforcer and medicine cat since our last ah unfortunate meeting" he replied non-chalantly, voice dropping slightly to underline the oh so horrible displeasure it had been to slash their miserable leaders face. expression ive cold and muscles periodically twitching in anticipation of a attack that wouldnt come. couldnt come. he would have no trouble putting eaglepaw six foot under but too much was at play. he couldnt.
stars above when would he learn that cats were not always as entertaining as anticipated, eaglepaw could do better with this. asking why he'd sit next to her? tz. low. wasnt it obvious? who was he to ever expect anyone to match him on an interlectual level sigh. "mmh its not all so easy eaglepaw" rookfire tutted, head tipped sideways and fangs exposed in a too-sweet grin. striped tail swishing slowly behind his body, the former medicine cat let the silence linger between them before replying. "is it so wrong to want to see an old friend suffer due to yer mere presence? cant a guy have fun anymore hmm?"
ah the gathering was already ending, too bad he had a few more sharp quips ready to go he'd have to remember for next time. microdosing eaglepaw being unbearably annoying was probably good for his health though. "its rookfire. and its been that for moons" he hissed after her, standing with his tail lashing before stomping off to find a cat he could bare look at without losing his mind. maybe hillstrider, even if he did have a sort of punch-able face.
