Re: January Gathering
Goosebite
Warrior, Male(he/him), 47 moons
Goosebite jumps in surprise, whirling around to see a ginger cat. She smells of Shadowclan, but she looks small. Surely, this is just an excited apprentice. He licks his shoulder, laying down the startled fur.
"You're alright," he meows, looking them over to see if they have any injuries. "I bump into plenty of things myself. Excited, are ya?" Goosebite glances at the four leaders, flicking his tail.
rookfire eyed berryshine briefly, less interested in the timid feline despite their brief ah chat and moreso the fact that her little girlfriend, the very same goddamn traitor that had somehow sweet talked riverclan high ranks enough to let her become a high rank despite being frankly useless, incapable and a huge wimp, was no where to be seen. served her right to be getting into trouble for spying on thunderclans dreams, even if rookfire couldnt care less about thunderclan as a whole. it'd be phenomenally funny if she got demoted for her stupidity. stars, to spy on someone so obviously..fool. a goddamn fool. rookfire had known from the moment he became goddamn capable of critical thought.
it was quite funny how shocked berryshine looked though, which did well in calming rookfires furious thoughts. ah well he wasnt really furious anymore, simply passionate about a fool losing the position they never deserved. the dark tom huffed a quiet laugh at the whole drama unfolding between thunderclan and riverclan. once more. like they were at a meeting half a season cycle ago. if riverclan kept playing with the fire like that, he wouldnt be surprised to have another fight break out. perhaps taking the hint and ridding themselves of cobwebpaw, ideally by his paw, would be best hmmm? one glorious execution! but no, riverclan wasnt smart enough to connect the dots. tz. pity.
eaglepaw remained silent next to him, for now, and rookfire got the opportunity to stare at sleepysunrise disapprovingly. he had high opinions of her, genuinely, but that was disregarded for the moment when he saw her join dawnstar. with his remaining ear tilted back in displeasure, low anger nipped at his composure like a flame, ignited by his successor huddling close to their leader. she was supposed to be a medicine cat, today more than ever, and this was nothing if not shrinking back into being nothing but dawnstars grandchild. disappointment his mind kindly supplied with a sharpness that mirrored the words he'd have to say about this.
his attention shifted from sleepysunrise to his former friend when they stirred next to him. at eaglepaws sharp words, rookfires expression shifted into faux surprise as if he hadnt even realised where he sat before taking in eaglepaws following comments with a grin. "i did indeed. compared ta' ya ive done quite well for myself aye?" the former medicine cat replied, voice kept casual despite the sharp bite it was supposed to carry. no matter the recent hit of demotion, he had lived a majority of his time in shadowclan as an enforcer or high rank, eaglepaw never made it from apprentice. as far as he knew at least. fear lingered at the back of his mind though, it had been long since he had had to fear suspicion due to mingling with riverclanners but him grinning, no matter how cruelly, at her sort of brought him back to harder times. insecurity-, no, distrust of his own clanmates should be expected after what had happened. he was wronged. he was in the right to distrust.
rookfire barked a laugh, wanting a apology. like he cared. what a ridiculous concept. he had chosen his fate, had let the stars lead his way to glory. only for it to be shattered by a mistake of a cat. "i could'n care less for a apology from you."

Oho, so that was the game she wanted to play? Fine. Also why did she sound like a dude. Eaglepaw snorted at the insult, shaking out her fur to dislodge some snow that was stuck in the ginger fluff. "I've done quite well, actually. Reunited with my father."Lost him again."Made new friends."Abandoned them for a clan that doesn't learn."Served a purpose. Saved cats."Useless, useless."Decided to come back because I realized my loyalties still lie with the clan that raised me." She shrugged, watching as Twilightstar finished up announcements and called the end of the Gathering.
Eaglepaw's eyes shot skyward, tail tapping the ground behind her in annoyance as Minkpaw insisted she didn't want an apology. Well what did she want then!!!!!! "Then why did you bother to sit next to me?" She asked bluntly, irritation worming under her skin and making her voice sharp. "It's sweet that you still think of me after all this time," Eaglepaw's face twitched up into a gruesome smile, half her maw shredded and exposed, emerald eyes burning with a wicked fire. "But I'm not into traitors. I wish you well, I really do. In the end, maybe we'll see each other in the Dark Forest. Until then, Minkpaw." With that, Eaglepaw turned to join the growing crowd of RiverClan cats, ready to head home.
It was only after Minkpaw was out of sight did Eaglepaw drop her facade, calm nonchalance dropping into red-hot anger. Ugh, the audacity!! What the hell was her problem?? HOW Eaglepaw had managed to remain calm and collected that entire time, she had no idea. Eaglepaw's tail lashed back and forth, her ears pinned back as she stared at the ground as though she could reprimand it like it was that self-serving, arrogant, narcissistic, clan-hopping, lily-livered asshole who did nothing but beef with apprentices and look stupid!! UGH!!!! Eaglepaw needed to scream into a moss nest immediately!
| Lightningstorm | 25 Moons - WindClan Medicine Cat Flock Together [Tier 3] - Active | Mind Reader - Active | Dreamwalker - Inactive | Katty Krueger - Inactive
Dawnstar's words brought a twitch to Lightningstorm's large ears, a thoughtful gaze towards the stars following. She had barely any communication with StarClan, and what communication she did have was negative on most occasions. The names Coldamber and Cindersky would forever make her hackles raise in fury, and that was without bringing to mind the countless other felines who had invaded her dreams for nothing more than a need for validation. To pretend they were something more than a dead cat with nothing to state other than their woes of how frightfully boring the afterlife was. What little positive interactions she'd had, however, had brought information with them... and somehow the medicine cat doubted there was anything more to the Starcave's collapse than an unfortunate coincidence. StarClan's power had been waning for moons. She'd been informed of that much. The lithe calico doubted they had the strength for something of this magnitude of their own volition, especially if this something hurt them in the long term. After all, the residents of Silverpelt were nothing if not self serving.
And yet she remained quiet. What she had was nothing more than assumptions based on extremely limited and potentially outdated knowledge. There was no reason to bring up something that would amount to little more than idle gossip that had just as much of a chance of being wrong as it did otherwise. She opted to instead listen with polite indifference to the ShadowClan leader's announcements before coaxing a brow with interest. It seemed Dawnstar assumed the same thing she had. Twilightstar would probably want to get involved. Sigh. Lightningstorm was rather fond of Twilightstar, and her commitment to follow her lead was the same as before... but it did not change her opinion that the leader might be far too soft in situations like these. How baseless rumors arose to the extents of giving way to a rebellion was beyond her, but then, the cats of WindClan had shown before how eager they were to blind themselves to the facts as long as they had a scapegoat to throw senseless violence at. The higher their position within the clan, the better.
Even as her thoughts processed through this, however, she paused, feeling the tremble of her companion. Empty expression shifted from the leaders as she side eyed the WindClan deputy. It surprised her. His need for her to get involved in this situation before Twilightstar had a chance to intervene and potentially included her in this exercise in futility. With the tom's casual attitude of kittenish humor usually at the forefront, she was certain most cats underestimated the intellect that she knew was there. The medicine cat was not in the business of asking idiots for their advice or for their view on matters of importance, and yet she confided with the dark, striped warrior more than with any other cat in the clan. To have him ask her to check things out at the Starcave as a personal favor to him was... curious to say the least. She knew the tom's faith in StarClan was more than hers. He had not been disappointed and attacked by the graypelts as she had been. Yet to think it was such that he would be moved by this possibility of anger? It baffled her to the point of questioning.
And yet there was no chance for any questions to be thrown to the wind. Following after Dawnstar, the WindClan leader gave her own announcements, the medicine cat so attentive for once she almost forgot the night's cold breeze. Her stern glare at the mention of Sunburst and his band of worthless little rebels flickered for only a moment, replaced soon by a more easy going, empty headed glance. The air in the gathering was crackling with enough tension already. A scowling medic would add precious little to the already battle fueled landscape the Seastones offered tonight. And yet even she could not keep her vacant expression for long, a more easy, well practiced smirk crossing her maw as the lilac she-cat added herself alongside the herbalist to the Starcave bound patrol, eyes twinkling with mischief as if she had been caught red pawed in some fiendish plan to turn the trek back home into a chaotic snowball fight.
"I never insult, Twilightstar. Only state facts that can be construed as such by simpler minds," she chirped merrily in response as she stood, offering the deputy a cheeky grin and a wink.
It was a silent acknowledgement. Hidden within the barb thrown back at the tom. To make a remark upon it now would be... unnecessary. The rest of the clans did not have to know that the WindClan deputy had displayed any level of concern or... dare she say... fear when the Starcave situation had been announced. There was nothing in his words to suggest horror in itself... but something about the tone of his voice made her perfectly aware that this was more than just an idle request. His words had been honest, and much as she did not share his worries he was her friend. Had Twilightstar not added her into the fray, she would have offered herself regardless. Perhaps not for the sake of StarClan, but always for him. Not that she would vocalize as much. And speaking of vocalizations...
"Toes," Lightningstorm called out in an easy going voice as Hawkfur approached the leader, gaze turning to her apprentice. "I doubt we'll be gone long, but I want you to return with Crowtooth back to camp, just in case. Best not leave the den fully unattended."
Sleepysunrise
[ 14 moons | She / Her | Shc Medicine Cat | Shadow Fiend ]
Warmth wrapped over her back as she settled at her grandmother's side, prompting the she-cat to briefly lift her gaze towards the hulking leader. For a moment, one could almost see the corner of her maw tip upwards before it fell back down in the same motion, returning to its neutrality. She let herself press a bit of her weight against her, taking in the offered warmth and hoping she might bring the same to her grandmother. It was a welcome distraction from her tumultuous thoughts that whispered in her mind and screamed in her ear at every turn. Until a hiss sounded from besides her, and look up turned her gaze towards Silentpaw; she blinked. He seemed to be looking at someone. Who, she didn't know, but her lips pressed together in thought. She didn't like traitors.
Her gaze hardened for a few moments, mind flickering back to the traitorous sister of hers; the one who willingly stayed away from ShadowClan, who refused to divulge details of their mother's death. If Silentpaw wanted to follow in a traitor's pawsteps then he had to do it before Sleepysunrise gutted him for thinking about it. Her paws twitched; before he could do it; she bit the inside of her lip; ---- before he can leave; you needed --; now -- she took a breath. Her mind wandered to her mother. Mama. ---- --- for leaving.
Her gaze trailed down, he jaw clenched, her paws shuffled closer to her body. ---- for leaving; she heard it again, those thoughts, those images in her mind's eye - bodies flashing, blood at her paws. That familiar pelt stained. She blinked the thought away. She wanted to; she saw mama. Her body, scarred; her position, ahead; her face, blank. Blue. Bloated. Blank. She could practically feel her smile. Could practically feel her mocking gaze -- she left ShadowClan of her own volition. Made them all believe she was dead she is dead. She was a traitor. How could she? How could she leave? A metallic taste began to coat her tongue; with a start the little cat realised her teeth had drawn blood from where she bit the inside of her lip. She blinked again; her head lifted. Rookfire was burning a hole into her head. She blinked at him. Did he see through her? Why did he hate her?
She shook her head, a brisk, erratic movement, harsh. It hurt her mind. Focus on the gathering, idiot, those harsh thoughts screamed in her mind, overlapping faces of the fallen and mocking tones mixing with hatred. She felt tired. Huff; it seemed RiverClan was doing little to amend their troubles; Cobwebstorm; her eyes darted to where the solo RiverClan medic sat, her companion not present. An ability to walk in the dreams of others... She grew thoughtful. She didn't like that. Walking in the dreams of others... Mama / --- / she did that too. That is how she came to her dreams. Could she do it too gone? Everyone seemed upset with the cat; what a fool. She should have been more careful, this could cost her her head.
Then came the news of the StarCave. Sleepysunrise visibly paused, and for a few long moments, looked out into the distance. That is where mama lived. That is where mama was staying was she. That is where mama was betraying them was she. Was she alright was she? Was she alive dead? Was she better off--- Sleepysunrise shook off the thought, her eyes lifted to her grandmother. Did Miss Grandmama know? She watched her intently; she hardly seemed to care. Did she not know? Or did she not care? Or was it a lie? If it was her living in that cave, would she not care? The thought entered her mind; if she became a dead traitor like mama, of course she wouldn't care about her. If she became useless to the clan, of course she wouldn't care about her either. She had to suppress a sick chuckle. A stark reminder for why she could not mess this up. For why she had to keep going and be the best; excel at everything or die trying dead. There was no other option.
Miss Grandmama began her announcements. Hearing her name, Sleepysunrise pushed aside every thought and straightened her back, her eyes lifted to the crowd and for the first time she felt self-conscious realising how many eyes were on her. They had to look away. She wanted them to look away. Don't look at her!! Her mind screamed at them, but the new medic remained composed as she always was. Her body was but a vessel and shield to the antics of her mind that she could never show. She kept looking out ahead of her, gaze unblinking and unwavering. She looked calm, composed. A stark contrast to the break downs in her dreams and violent thoughts in her mind nagging for her obedience and forcing her paw.
Before she knew, the last announcement was over. Miss Grandmama turned to the ancient WindClan leader, and Sleepysunrise followed her gaze. Glance at it. She did care. Did she? Did it matter? The thoughts argued in her mind; glance at it. She was permitted to glance at it. But would she? It was all the same to her. All these cats were dead, what did the collapse of some cave even mean? But her mama could be there could she. Her mama might be dead there dead. She had to look. She had to. "I would like to glance at it."
She forced her voice above a mutter into clear, quiet tones as she turned to her grandmother and gave her own verdict. She would glance at it. She would inspect it. She would see it. But a deep, quiet part of her was afraid of what she would find there. She had to speak to Miss Grandmama before they arrived there. Her gaze turned to the WindClan leader, then, when she began her announcements in turn, and Sleepysunrise settled back in silence by her grandmother's side.
Rabbitpaw
He/him | WC Medicine Cat Apprentice | ~13 Moons | Part Manx cat
Rabbitpaw's eyes widened at the poor timing of Crowtooth, who had just finished teasing and mocking the Shadowclan leader moments before she arrived right at the front of the seastones. By whatever grace of Starclan, the leader hadn't seemed to heard and it allowed the medicine cat apprentice a moment to breathe before the gathering fully started with all of its announcements and happenings... which was a lot.
A plague had run its course through Thunderclan leading to a large number of deaths that had Rabbitpaw's chest hurting with empathy. Despite whatever differences each of the clans had with eachother, in the end they were all just cats, and no one deserved that kind of death, and so many families didn't deserve that kind of loss. He watched it happen, he knew what would've happened, had his mother not been swooped by an owl. Watching as her condition worsened every morning despite his hopes for some miracle.
A plague of that was... Rabbitpaw couldn't even fathom it. He didn't make a sound as Bumblestar wished for silence.
Following was happier news, apprentices and warriors and Wolfpaw had earned his full name Wolfhawk. That was impressive, but at the same time it made Rabbitpaw worry that he wasn't trying hard enough in his medicine cat based training. Miss Lightningstorm hadn't brought up any concerns with his efforts but he knew that he was likely out of the den too much, and maybe he could be asking more questions, it wasn't like Miss Lightningstorm minded them, and maybe he could be asking others in the clan but he wasn't sure who else would know any herbal knowledge so that likely wasn't very smart. He frowned but tried to keep the anxiety at bay. Focusing on the positive, Wolfhawk had earned his name, and that Rabbitpaw should wish him well when the time came if at all.
Then in a flash it was back to more distressing topics, Bumblestar turning onto the newest of Riverclan's leaders. Rabbitpaw's ears folded back at the switch before he forced them into a neutral position again, green eyes watching carefully. Cobwebfern was in others' dreams? In Bumblestar's and Wolfhawk's? Rabbitpaw himself has found himself with a similar ability, crossing into other cats' dreams but never in a different clans? Nor has he done it often, never being able to control where he went. The only cat he remembers was Magpiepaw. And he hasn't thought about them in some time, he was probably 7 or so moons then.
He squished closer into Crowtooth's side. Wow. Rabbitpaw made the mental note to not get on Bumblestar's bad side, though he never had any intentions of doing anything of that sort anyways. He would rather stay polite, and then go home, and leave the more complicated relationships to Crowtooth and Twilightstar. Maybe that was selfish of him in some ways. It was Owlstar that responded next, reasonably so given Bumblestar's start to the gathering and at first Rabbitpaw blinked at the name.. Cobwebstorm? Wasn't it Cobwebfern? Rabbitpaw wouldn't have gotten that mixed up would he, but surely there was no way that a leader would misaddress their own medicine cat, especially given the situation.
It seemed likely that Cobwebfern- err Cobwebstorm had changed their name ( after Stormstar maybe? ) was it just out of wish or was it for being a full medicine cat? OH WAIT MORE IMPORTANTLY- Owlstar knew that Cobwebstorm was in Thunderclan high rank dreams and oh double wait, Cobwebstorm was promoted to full medicine cat. Then it was threatened... never had Rabbitpaw been to an gathering that has been so back and forth with the information that the leaders' introduced and it made him wonder how the other clans could handle being in such craziness all the time.
New leader after leader, medicine cats causing political issues.. well maybe he mostly wondered after Riverclan but recently it seemed that Shadowclan was having problems maintaining medicine cats as well. Mossfreckle and his mentor, then it was Grousepaw, then Rookfire- and now it was a completely new set here.. he didn't know either of their names but assumed that soon the shadow leader would introduce them. The rest of what Owlstar said was pretty standard...
The. Starcave. Has. Collapsed. Rabbitpaw couldn't help the widening of his eyes as his fur spiked and he sat up with the shock of the announcement that the leader then tried to wave off as an earthquake but how in the world was that an earthquake! Surely there has been countless earthquakes and never before have the clans been cut off from the stars. From his mom, he thought startled, followed by the realization that so many cats he knew in the stars... why would they have brought this on them? Was it because of Riverclan? Were they so unhappy with another new leader visiting that they cut connections off completely? Why would they hurt all of them for punishment of one clan?
Rabbitpaw forced a deep breath. This was fine. Maybe.. well, he's never been, and he's been to Starclan and the Dark Forest from his nest, Miss Lightningstorm has received visions from her dreams.. surely they still had some connection even if their main means of communication was cut off. Wait... cave... that was underground, was there some other way into the starcave? Was that possible? Was there a tunnel? Could they make a tunnel? The former tunneler apprentice's mind swirled with a mix of religious panic and attempts of fixing it that he almost stopped listening to the gathering all together despite how only two clans' have spoken.
He forced Bumblestar's cursing of the stars to the farthest corner of his mind. Then Dawnstar continued that she wouldn't be looking into the issue either. Was no one else seeing the problem here? What this means? Does no one here care about Starclan? Sure they weren't the best sometimes but they were more than just guiding ancestors, they were family! His family! He couldn't have this connection cut off from him. Everything kind of faded away after that, missing the rest of Dawnstar's words as he couldn't get himself to really listen, brain too locked in on the starcave.
It wasn't until his mentor directly addressed him that Rabbitpaw blinked and managed to tear his focus and put it to the present. Oh.. okay.. they were going to see it? Lightningstorm.. okay, he could trust that.. trust her. He understood why he would need to return to camp but he almost wanted to insist on attending as well. "A-alright, yeah. Thank you. Stay safe please Miss Lightningstorm." He got to his paws, ears flicking back and standing to his paws as he turned to leave at Crowtooth's side. He would need to talk to him later.. and Lightningstorm when she returned.
[ TLDR; Rabbitpaw is scared bc of the Starcave collapse and leaves with Crowtooth. ]

Rabbitpaw gif made by ramen!
The leader listened keenly and was somewhat proved right in her predictions. Thunderclan was out, and seemed downright resentful to Starclan. Owlstar gave her ears a flick, her stomach churning. She'd have to admit, Starclan hadn't exactly been her saving grace lately and maybe it was only worse for the other clans. Shadowclan was out as well, only offering their medicine cat.
One eyed gaze flicked over to the white and black she-cat, her soft voice almost unheard among multiple murmurs. Well, the medicine cat meeting seemed to be a done deal. Owlstar turned to Twilightstar and gave her a nod before looking to Berryshine who seemed to be hiding anger behind her green hues.
"I have no objections." Owlstar spoke, solidifying her own stance on the matter. She watched as Windclan poured out from the gathering, catching a glimpse of what seemed to be fear lacing their expression and gait. Owlstar knew that Twilightstar was old, so she understood why this would be an actual concern for her clan. Even if Owlstar was completely fine doing this all alone, she was glad at least one clan was dipping their paws into the matter.
She then stood and shook snow from her pelt. Too much trouble had been caused, as if the tension with Windclan wasn't enough. Might as well chase foxes into their territory, the effect would be just the same. It wasn't worth the risk, allowing Cobwebstorm to hold on to her position unless she valued her friend over her clan... She wished things were easy. But if they were, she wouldn't be here.
She believed leaving without any consolation for the Thunderclan leader would leave her with more hurt, but she didn't want to cause mass hysteria in her clan if it could be controlled hysteria. Gossip was nearly as bad as any problems they were already dealing with, and having an unstable leadership stemmed from whispers of malcontent. So, why not tell them right now? "Riverclan! Know that Cobwebstorm will be removed from 'er position 'cuz of 'er actions. I'll further discuss the matter once we hit home."
"Lionhearts! I want cha watchin' the back of the group. Riverclan, at my heels. We're headin' out." she then beckoned Berryshine close to her with a flick of her tail. She had much to discuss with the medicine cat as well as herbs to gather. And with that, the Riverclan leader escaped from the suffocating cold that was Seastones.
Of course, she wanted to go. She had been banking on Sleepysunrise's return to camp. Well, she already said she'd tag along and her word was her word. "Mistlewhisker," She called to the deputy with a dejected scowl. "You can take the clan home and check that all our Parasites are accounted for." The last thing Dawnstar needed was to come home and find out one of them had vanished. They've been pretty good about staying inside the camp since Houndpaw's last adventure, but she felt like they'd start acting up with their new rank.
She leaned over to butt her head against the ShadowClan deputy's flank in a brief farewell. She hasn't been paying as much attention to Mistlewhisker as she should have, but such woes come with juggling her responsibilities and anxiety between the clan and the family.
The leader padded back over to Sleepysunrise's side to loom over her granddaughter protectively and fix a glare on Twilightstar. Her eyes darted between the clan leader, Lightningstorm, and another WindClan tom who asked to join their little get-together. Hawksomething, she remembered him taking point during their little rodent issue in WindClan's territory.
She ignored the squirrels and lashed her tail impatiently eager to be off. That ginger molly had been staring at Silentpaw throughout the gathering and Dawnstar was keen to return home and figure out what was with the pair.

Adderstrike let out a soft gasp when she heard what Owlstar said and had to bite her cheek to make sure that she heard her leader right. Was she just going to kowtow to the Thunderclan leader just like that? She felt unsasy about this whole thing. Who would take the spot now? Did Berryshine know all of the herbs that there were?
She let out a deep sigh to recollect herself. Riverclan couldn't rely on Starclan to help them if Berryshine was missing information and it wasn't like Cobwebstorm was going to die the moment they got to camp. The new apprentice would have plenty of knowledge and cats had to learn all the herbs somehow if the med cats were missing something.
With that Adderstrike got up from the spot she had warmed well and walked back home with the rest of them.
At Owlstar's words, Brokenstream had to stifle his shock. Cobwebstorm was to be removed as medicine cat? He glanced at Berryshine, the she-cat clearly had been distraught before the decision had been announced. Would this only make it worse? He made a mental note to check on her, but now was not the time.
Taking up the back of the Clan as instructed, the Lionheart held his head high as he walked forward. Now was not a time to show weakness or unrest in front of the other Clans.
Primroseadder's ears perked up, her emerald eyes widening. She glanced down at Rosemarypaw and Mosspaw, the two apprentices that had stuck with her here at the Gathering.
Cobwebstorm was to be demoted? Owlstar was seriously just going to strip the gray medicine cat of her position just because Bumblestar said so? A low growl rolled in the warrior's throat. Who did Bumblestar think she was? She wasn't the RiverClan Leader; she was ThunderClan's. Owlstar shouldn't---couldn't---let the cream-and-white tabby get away with bossing around her Clan.
She flashed a glare at Bumblestar---and then at Owlstar for giving in so easily to the thundersquirrel---before getting to her paws and ushering Rosemarypaw and Mosspaw ahead of her, catching up to Adderstrike. Primroseadder said nothing to her former mentor, instead just sharing a silent glance with her before speaking to the two apprentices. ''Stick with Adderstrike and I. It seems as if Bumblestar's out for RiverClan blood tonight.''
