The tom shifted, glancing around.
"I don't think so," he muttered, opening his mouth to scent the area.
"It smells safe, but the scent of crow-food may be disguising any other cat's scent,"

Otter licked his chest fur where it was sticking out in places, chuckling softly to himself. “Well you’re in luck Starling—I’m at your service. It’s the least I can do for almost crushing you.”
The ginger tom snorted at her question, amber eyes sparkling in the sunlight. “My fishing is fin-omenal.” He half expected someone to cuff his ears for the horrible pun; maybe that someone would be Starling. Otter didn’t know what to expect from her yet. “But no…really. I can hold my own. Why, did you want to have a contest of something?” Noting the amount of plump fish on the riverbank, he added with a self-deprecating smile—”If that’s the case, I forfeit. I can already tell you’d win.”

Starlingflight winced from the terrible pun, but she had to admit, it was...somewhat funny. She reached out and batted his ear, snorting, "That was terrible, but the effort made it bearable." The she-cat chuckled. "Not a contest, no. Just some help bringing more prey back to camp. Maybe I can teach you a thing or two." She got up and padded to the edge of the riverbank, crouching and glancing at Ottersplash.
"Come on over, dear. This old bird is going to show you how to get two fish at once," Was she boasting? Maybe. As much as the river made her sick and she hated it, it was their food source, and like any RiverClan cat, she was an adept fisher. Maybe even one of the best? She hasn't paid attention to many of the younger cats fishing.

Sedgestorm wrinkled his nose in disgust. The close he got to the smell, the worse his head hurt. When did he develop a headache? Probably was related to the reek of death.
"It could also attract something. We need to get rid of it, and quick."
Someone would have to keep watch if they buried it. Unless for some reason they'd rather leave it there.

"I'll help!" Reedpaw squeaked. "I have practice with digging for shells if you want to bury it! Or... should I do something else?"

Peachfrost stifled a purr at Sweetpaw. Finally, another one of my clanmates who clearly don't like Riverclan. Take that Twilightstar! She thought smugly, greeting the apprentice with a friendly lick to the head. As the rest of the patrol filed in, (some less enthused than others) she began to think of what herbs they would need to look for.
She decided to lead the group to Sedgewater valley, a perfect place for Snakeheart to teach her, as it was closest to Riverclan. And Kestrelwing can go ahead and scamper on home...
"Ok! So everyone, here is the plan. We need dandelions, borage, and cobwebs! So please spread out and start picking! Sweetpaw since you are the smallest, you would be best to look for dandelions. Strikecry, I want you to hunt for the cobwebs. And Kestrelwing, you're on the hunt for borage. Unless you have any questions lets spread out!" She would stick with Snakeheart for any final lessons.

Re: Sedgewater Valley
Keep the peace, keep the peace, for stars sake what was up with Peachfrosts attitude?! Had Snakeheart pissed her off to without knowing?! No no she was probably just stressed the riverclan tom would not be the one to create issues here if a single molly decided to stuff the peace the two clans had that was on her. The more experienced medicine cat would continue to teach what he could. Still he did ingore her for a second to address the others in the patrol. "Its not that we hate the moor Strikecry its that were not really used to it. Theres a lot more tree in riverclan even if its less forested there then thunderclan or shadowclan so the open sky is... startling. Likewise Ive no doubt unless you were trained to swim as a riverclan cat was our territory would be horrible to you.You cant get anywhere quick without swimming over a couple rivers at least and it takes a surprisingly long time to find the easy to cross paths that dont require it added to that fact that the clan has a bit of an issue with hawks on occasion and here you seem to have no protection from them.... But I suppose as allies when things are easier you might be able to see for yourself, our clans have a history of visiting eachother on occasion." Those times were remembered fondly by those that participated as far as the medicine cat knew and though they halted in winter with the harder living the season created and the leadership issues with the new leader they might resume. Though who knows really Snakeheart had an idea of who the new leader would be and so far they hadnt shown any inclination of being friendly or social.
Still herbs were assigned and the riverclan tom hung back with Peachfrost to talk and teach "Seems Dandelion and Borage are the herbs you wish to learn from me before I go? Good choices but if you can take it I'm tacking on Burdock to that list. Just for reference everyone Dandelion is a low lying flower with a small little bunfle of leaves around it, its yellow but not as puffy or orange as marigold its flowers may look like white clouds not yellow sometimes but the flowers dont matter you need the leaves. Borage has little blue flowers and its fuzzy, even the leaves, you need to gather those." He'd seen far to many instances of sending cats out for dandelion and them coming back with marigold daffodils or daisys and if two of those had a use he didnt know them... Irritating.
"Right which herb do you wish to start with Peachfrost?"

Re: Sedgewater Valley

following after the older cats, sweetpaw was a bit behind due to constantly stopping. (butterflies and flowers, they were too pretty, so they had to stop to look.) but quickly, they caught up and listened to the orders of peachfrost. they got dandelions? yes! a small little smug smirk appeared for a split second-- at least they wouldn't have to get scary cobwebs and...whatever..borage was.
"yellow flower with lots o' tiny leaves....low lying.." they murmured to themself as snakeheart continued talking about herbs, slowly nodding despite barely listening at all. everything else was going through one ear and out the other. they were more focused on dandelions-- looking around.
"okay, got it- thanks fishclan cat!" yellow flowers with tiny leaves and low to the ground...okay! yeah, this would totally be easy. the windclanner turned away from the group, leaping off to another area to look for the little dandelions. (oh, was that one over there? hopefully so!)

Re: Sedgewater Valley
Snakeheart was being so... nice? Still! After days and days of staying in Windclan, putting up not just with her but a whole new (and better) clan, he was still holding his tongue? He even kept the other Riverclan warrior in check, shooting him looks or a quick retort to keep him quiet and respectful. Why? What did Riverclan gain from this? Surely it wasn't as simple as genuinely just wanting her to succeed... right?
The medicine cat in question snapped her out of her thoughts as he spoke up, responding to a comment from Strikecry. Even now the notoriously grumpy tom seemed calm, cool and collected as he explained the territory. If a cat from another clan asked her anything remotely stupid? Well... she was sure to get another talking to from Twilightstar about her behavior.
She turned to Snakeheart, ready to learn but was surprised when he continued to talk to Strikecry and Sweetpaw. That was when she realized. Oh you mouse-brain! Of course you need to describe what the herbs look like! She ducked her head sheepishly.
"Thanks, I've been so in my own head I forgot not everyone instantly knows what I know. She meowed, a little embarrassed to have missed such an important detail. "Lets start with Borage, then dandelions, and then borage.

Re: Sedgewater Valley
Fernpaw was always happy to get out of camp, and had bounced at the opportunity to follow Owltalon into the territory.
By this point, he had a good idea of where the Rivercat border was, and he wasted no time in racing across the moor toward the river. Maybe he would see Fish Bird again? The thought made him giddy.
Distracted by his thoughts, he didn't realize he was running straight for a drop-off. He squeaked in surprise when suddenly the ground vanished beneath his paws, and he was falling off the edge of the river bank's cliff toward the water below.

Re: Sedgewater Valley
As they left camp, Kestrelwing wasn't happy. He was holding his tongue solely because of his promise to Snakeheart, but the next little yip to come out of Peachfrost, or arrogant attitude out of Sweetpaw, and he had no problem flipping the table on this whole operation and heading back to RiverClan.
"Borage. Got it," the tom answered, not bothering to make small talk with anyone else on the patrol as he trotted off alongside the river bank. Blue flowers... fuzzy leaves... blue flowers... fuzzy - oh! The gray tabby had been so engrained in his search that when a small thorn poked his nose, he let out a quiet hiss. A droplet of blood rolled off his maw and onto the ground below. "Stupid thorns," he muttered, crossing his eyes and attempting to swat the thorn out. It only dug deeper, and for now Kestrelwing just sighed; he would have Snakeheart just get it out later.
Resuming his search the RiverClan warrior kept his head further off the ground, ehyes scanning back and forth until... was that it? Upon further examination, he noticed the tiny blue flowers and reached out a paw to confirm that the leaves were, in fact, fuzzy. Reaching down with his jaws he carefully plucked a bundle of three, easily removing them from their earthy home. That was all he'd bring back, as that was all he'd been in charge of.
The tabby gave a flick of his tail to indicate what he'd gotten as he trotted back to the rest of the ground.
