"You might not understand for some time," Stormtalon said with a dismissive flick of his tail, not disclosing whether he thought the kill justified as he questioned that himself. Twisted as it was at times, Lionstorm's love for Fawnsqueak was undeniable -- something he didn't understand either, at least not in the romantic sense. Storm never let his feelings grow to that point. Look where it got them in the end.

As to her comment on ThunderClan's actions...well. Storm didn't answer. Instead: "Remember what I asked you before. Keep your mind open, your ears too. That will be important in the upcoming moons."

quietclaw? "weird name, weird name, mister quietclaw!" crabkit squealed, big goofy grin on her face giving it away that she truly meant no harm by calling his name weird. it was weird! like no name that she had ever heard of! half of the information quietclaw spouted out went in one ear and through out the other, except for the important parts. (splashleap is deputy! her name reminded her of puddles. snakeheart was the snakey sounding medicine cat-- she wondered if he hissed like a snake! and of course, some short bits of what warriors did.)

so from her understanding, every cat here had weird names. "will crabkit have a weird name like that when she grows up?" she questioned, only for her mouth to fall open a second later and she quickly shook her head. "ohh, wait, no! crabkit won't get to have a weird name, because her mom will come get her soon, and then she'll be ponyo again." was it just in kits blood to over share? probably, considering the words slipped off of her tongue quickly and smoothly.

"but her mom isn't here, not with the river-fish kitties, she's somewhere." maybe at their home? or maybe she visited the twolegs! or maybe, she went on a long journey that crabkit couldn't come on? (okay, that sounded really cool to her.) "but crabkit will make sure to tell her allll about you river-fish kitties when she comes," the ginger kit decided with a few firm nods.

Seeing the Clan gather underneath him, some with expectant looks on their faces and others... crestfallen, Kestrelstar straightened himself up. In his mind, voices were yelling at him every which way, kicking up a rather chaotic storm that disheveled his thoughts and organization for this meeting. In his chest, his heart was beating frantically, so loud that the tabby was sure that those below could hear it - despite this being impossible. Frozenberry... Frozenberry... they were not among the crowd...

Of course they weren't. Of course he was never able to truly have anything for himself. For a brief moment, yellow eyes estimated the height of the rock from the ground. One misstep...

No. No, that needed to stop. With his pelt already skinny and eyes visibly darkened, Kestrelstar was certain that his Clan was already aware of something being amiss with him. They didn't need that.

Attention grabbed by the young kit he'd found a day or two prior, Kestrelstar opened his mouth to say something when he noticed that Quietclaw was taking care of it. Something about the tom had always seemed... off to Kestrelstar, but he was grateful that the warrior had managed to distract the young kit. The name was... interesting, though the leader assumed he couldn't fault the tom for it - only the queens knew of the young kits arrival since she'd been found.

"Before I get into border matters, there are a few kits who are overdue for their training to begin," Kestrelstar began - starts was his voice strained. He pushed past it, deciding to ignore any comments made on his appearance of voice from here on out. They had no idea how hard this was. Not one of his Clanmates had an inkling of the stress he was under; they wouldn't survive it, he was barely clawing his way through as it was.
