Alright, he could do this. Cricketfire was a somewhat distant dad, not by his choice, but by circumstance. It was something he never wanted to be, obviously, but it had happened and he didn't know how to fix it. He was the father of three kits. Two disappeared and one he hadn't been close with. His son, Twigpaw. It broke his heart for his kit to grow up barely knowing his father. Padding over to the apprentices den, he poked his head into it. It was the same as when he and his sister were apprentices. "Twigpaw?" He called softly, heart fluttering.
He came across Snowypaw. He knew that now was the right time to apologize. He ambled on in and said: “Hey, Snowypaw. I came to apologize for a few days ago. I was much too sharp with you. It is no excuse, but the reason I said what I did was because it felt unfair to them to say nothing happened. When I caught the look, I guess I overreacted. I know you only wanted to protect them. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.” He said calmly but awkwardly, hoping no one was around to witness this.
The same voice from the meeting. Suppressing a shiver, Snowypaw tilted their head up, blue eyes rather a bit frightened as much as they tried to hide it. The apology was, nice, but still the young apprentice felt uncomfortable around the warrior. "Thanks for the apology, I guess," they replied, ducking their gaze down and letting it travel around the clearing. Heat rose to their fur as they scanned the clearing for any other cat; they wouldn't leave this interaction, but something about the warrior just rubbed them the wrong way.
Not only the kits, but just asking what was going on during the meeting. It was a... a meeting...? Realizing that this might come off as rude, Snowypaw returned the tom's gaze with a tiny smile. "Just... kits shouldn't hear that stuff. Scary stuff. At least not until they're older, or apprentices," they offered as a piece of advice. Especially Twilightstar's kits - they didn't think the leader would take too kindly to the warriors of her Clan scaring her kits.

Twigpaw had been putting fresh moss in his nest when he heard someone call his name. He walked to the entrance and saw his father, Cricketfire. Cricketfire had been captured by Twolegs, if Twigpaw remembered correctly, and forced to become a kittypet. But he had escaped, and had come back and found out he had three kits soon to become apprentices. Twigpaw had never seen Cricketfire, and hadn't really gotten to know him before his apprentice ceremony. Then he was busy with training, so this was the first time they would be really talking.
"Hi, Dad," Twigpaw meowed, coming out of the den. It felt weird to say the word dad. He had never said it before. He had never had a father or a father figure to say it to. It was fun, in a weird way. To say dad. Because now he actually had one. "Do you need something?" Would that scare him off? Twigpaw hoped not. He ddn't want to scare Cricketfire off.

"Interesting thought. However, I would think you would want to learn about troubling things when you are young, as kits with less responsibilities have more time to themselves, and to think and process it all, no?" he asked. "Here, say your mother was not really your mother. would you want to learn that as a 25 moon old warrior, having loved her and thought her real for 25 moons, or learn early and be aware of it, have time to think about it, and accept it?" he said.

Hearing Twilightstar call her name, Swiftwind’s ears perked up in response. She was quite surprised at getting to be a mentor, anxiety yet excitement churning in her belly now.
Turning her gaze from Twilightstar, Swiftwind was quickly able to seek out Bearpaw in the sea of cats around herself. After having set Brownkit down, she stepped gently, her paws barely bringing up any dirt, she made her way to the new apprentice before touching her nose to Bearpaws. Letting out her words accompanied with a gentle purr ”hello, Bearpaw, I’m happy to have you.”
Bearkit, no, Bearpaw took a deep breath when Twighlightstar announced his name change, it was official now so he had to calm down. Swiftwind wasn't a cat Bearpaw knew well, he knew of her presence in the clan but that was about it. The brown she-cat that approached him seemed much more elegant than himself, she was able to keep her composure while the young albino was still slouching with fidgeting paws.
He touched his nose to his new mentor's tentatively, feeling someone relaxed by her purr. "Hello... 'M happy to train under you." He was glanced up at the leader a last time before moving to the side, trying to blend in with the crowd again. "I hope to make a good apprentice."

~Swiftwind~
Unsure of whether or not she should stay beside her new apprentice, Swiftwind did move back into the crowd with him. However, instead of taking a seat beside him she did give him room. Her yellow eyes held a certain softness to them as she tucked her paws against herself, placing her tail around them.
Now, she respond to what Bearpaw had said before he had moved into the crowd. Giving a nod, Swiftwind blinked at her apprentice “I’m sure you’ll be a amazing one,” she was still quite a young warrior, so not only was her warrior ceremony still fresh in her thoughts, she remembered how anxious she was during her apprentice one. Taking in a soft breath, Swiftwind glanced away before rounding her yellow eyes back to him “we can do hunting or battle training after the meeting or tomorrow morning, which ever you’d prefer.”.

This conversation was getting weird... Snowypaw's ears flattened a bit as the warrior continued to speak, blue eyes shifting this way and that before landing back onto Elderflare. "Well, no, I wouldn't really want to learn about troubling things when I'm young, especially the age of a kit," they countered. Swallowing a rather stubborn lump in their throat, the apprentice added, "In fact, even as an apprentice some things still scare me."Like you, they wanted to add, but decided against it at the last moment.
Their mother... Bringing Featherwhisker into question was an interesting topic, and not one that Snowypaw really wanted to discuss with anyone let alone a warrior they were already wary of. "I don't think it would matter?" they replied, trying to wrap their head around this debate. This warrior was weird to them... "If she was the one who raised me, that's all that really matters..." At least in their mind it was.
"I never said I hated them. I said I hated doing this part of border patrol," she said stiffly, starting to walk the rest of the way around the border.
"Oh. Sorry." Twigpaw wondered if he had struck a nerve. He hoped not. He hadn't meant to. "Guess I was wrong." Maybe admitting his mistake would make Ashnose feel better.
Quote:
Bunnypaw flicked her tail,” I guess. But then they’ll think I’m one of those cats too scared to kill the prey…” she meowed she’d heard of cats doing that and it was something often scorned but she was willing to kill but they wouldn’t think that with her story.
Breezedapple shook her head. "No, they won't. Because you're going to say you caught it. Because you did, Bunnypaw. I just...helped out." She needed to get some confidence in this apprentice, and what other way than to give her some friends? Was that so wrong?

Ashnose swiped her tail against her apprentices back, then stiffened. She turned her head toward a sound, her ears flicking. "Shhh."

"You dont think it would matter if your whole life was hypothetically a lie?" he said. "I think that as warriors, everything moves so fast, and sometime I struggle to keep up. I think that learning this stuff early will give you time to accept it, cause as a warrior, take it from me, you have no time to think of anything." he said.
