Once te kit nodded and ran out of sight, Batsong looks at Badgersight again.
"Guess we're the same in that aspect. I have no visible scars as I like to cover them with my fur, but my father was like yours. Except, he wanted a son so that's why I go as a tom. I've gotten used to it so it would feel weird going back to being a she-cat. He never liked me too much honestly, so I know how you feel."

Dovekit runs around the clearing, looking for any kits, apprentices or warriors to play with. She didn't know anyone though so that was unfortunate but she would still look. That and she dare not wake her sister.

Badgersight watched the kit leave, he visibly relaxed. The black tabby tom gave a sympathetic look "Mine's kinda hard to hide" He joked, followed by a nervous laugh, he continued "That's.. horrible.. to never be able to live as the cat you are..." he gently placed a paw on Batsong's "Well I hope you know whatever you decide, I'll support you 100%" He said followed but a gently creaky purr.

He sank into his thoughts for a moment. A strange feeling overcame him, euphoric or comradeship possibly. He sighed quietly. He was already regretting moving beside Batsong. He couldn't put into words any explanation for doing so, especially not one the furball wouldn't take wrong.

He cleared his throat uncomfortably. "How is it? Living in the nursery?"

Batsong glances at him and then lays on his side again, grooming his paws.
"Cozy yet boring and lonely. The kits can be a pawful but it's nice watching them play. How have you been? Anything new or different going on? Anything with Goldenstep?"
To him, the two were no secret. The she-cat liked to talk about Elmshadow quite a bit and Batsong isn't necessarily blind. He assumed the question was innocent enough. He was merely checking up on the tom.
"If you don't mind me asking as well... Why did you come up to me today? I thought you'd avoid me and the nursery because of Dovekit and Pigeonkit."

Batsong blinks and looks at their paws and then at the tom.
"I appreciate it. But don't worry, your scar makes you look tough. I quite like it." He gives the large tom a small smile and hums. "I find I prefer being a tom. Mostly to stay out of she-cat gossip. But also because if I'm honest, I like being close to toms. They're like shields of sorts and they're pretty tough- not saying that she-cats aren't but I'm sure you know what I mean."

Elmshadow nodded thoughtfully, watching the camp entrance. Suddenly, without thinking, he meowed, "Goldenstep is having my kits." He was caught off-guard, unsure why he told Batsong that. Previous litters he was told about he intentionally kept under close confidences so he had no obligations to that litter.

He swallowed. To why he came over, he answered simply, "A moment of weakness, I guess." It was only afterwards that he realized how frequently he'd been saying that recently.

"A moment of weakness? You and I both know that's not the truth. I'm not going to tell anyone if you tell me. No one even knows anything about the kits after all. As far as they know, they're orphans that I decided to raise." He made sure to whisper the last part. Even though there were no cats around, he wanted to be cautious. He wanted to know why the tom would go over. Surely it can't be because he's trying to be nice. That's the last thing the tom would try to do.

A warm feeling washed over Elmshadow and, unconsciously, a small smile pulled at the corners of his mouth. He cleared his throat. "Of course she is."

He was quiet a moment, contemplating his answer carefully. He still couldn't exactly put into words, even to himself, why he'd chosen to approach Batsong and he didn't want to think about it long enough to start forming the words; something inside him made him feel that he wouldn't like the answer. But what to tell this nosy beaver. He shrugged and answered candidly, "I don't really know. I guess maybe I was just bored and wanted somebody to talk to."

Badgersight nodded and let out a little laugh "Thanks, that's what I was going for" he joked, his tail tip twitched as he listened to his clanmates next words and nodded "That's fair! I sort of get what ya mean! I was raised by a strong she so I've never met anyone too dainty" he laughed. His mother had been the one to save him from his father before dying herself due to an illness. The large tabby tom flicked his ear as he moved his paw back, hoping he hadn't made anything too awkward "Toms aren't bad, though some I've met are rather.." He paused, not knowing the word to say "Well... Obnoxious" He straightened up and chuckled "'Can't live with 'em but can't live without 'em' kinda" He said smiling down at Batsong.

Bushykit honestly had no idea what to do. He was bored. Very bored. He wanted to sleep, but also eat. He wanted to play with someone yet also not, if that could make sense. The little russian blue let out a huff, rolling onto his back and wriggling around. Bored, bored bored. What. To. Do. Maybe he could find his siblings to annoy them? Where were they? Maybe they were eating ... not fair! The little tom wanted to eat too. Everything was dark, though, He couldn't see. That was his problem. He also couln't hear because his left ear was deaf. The only thing on the young feline's mind right now other than his siblings was the intoxicating and delicious scent of food. Food. Hungry. Mouse. Rabbit. Fish. Frog. Frog. Bug. Mud. Rolling. Dirty. Water. Ew. Riverclan. Swimming. Ew. Riv- Bushykit stopped himself going into the endless cycle of ew, riverclan and swimming thoughts. His brain was weird. He could admit that. Hungry. Food. Frog. Frog. Frog. Frog!

Batsong snorts and yawns.
"You have poor tastes in who to talk to. Besides, aren't I, as you say, 'The pain in your fur'?"
He gave the tom a side glance as he finished his sentence. He likes being sly and it likes seeing Elmshadow's reaction to it.
