Misty and Wolf

Misty went to where she last scented the vole and stood still scenting the air and listening for prey. She hoped to scent or hear the vole from early, but instead, she caught the scent of a squirrel. She located the squirrel burying a nut by an oak tree. It was two fox-lengths away, and it hadn't noticed her.
She dropped down into a hunter's crouch, making sure her tail kept still. She crept forward slowly her eyes trained on her prey. She got close and leaped onto the squirrel with her claws extended. She tried to bite its neck and failed, the second time she succeed, and the squirrel went limp in her paws.
She turned around toward Wolf. "Ta-da." She said proudly gesturing to the prey.

Wolf raised his eyebrows. “Nice. You’re landing and catching could use some training though. You almost lost that squirrel.” He poked the prey in the side and grunted. “At least it’s fat. Probably eating extra in preparation for leaf-bare.” He sat down then and began to wash himself.

"But I didn't lose it, and that's that important part." She said, defending herself. She sat down and began eating the prey in large hungry bites. Afterward, she groomed herself cleaning all the dirt and sticks from her fur.

“Hmph. Whatever. You still could have done better.” It was like she didn’t even want to have any criticism, Wolf mused. What, did she think she was perfect? Well then, this cat had a lot to learn about the real world. “Well, what are we learning now, princess?”’Might as well let the little missy pick. Only she would know what she needed help with.

Misty just rolled her eyes and didn't respond to his first statement. Probably best not to antagonize the cat that agreed to teach her. "I need to learn some fighting moves," Misty decided. She hadn't ever been in any sort of violence, aside from a small dog attacking her. But she just jumped onto a fence and the dog couldn't follow her, but if she ever fought a cat climbing a fence wouldn't help.

Wolf nodded, pleased at her choice. “Ok then. First thing first - attack me.” Wolf went into a battle stance, waiting for Misty to attack. Chances were she would go for the face, so she would prepare to duck and swipe her legs off from underneath her.

Misty had never had fighting training in her life and was uncertain of what to do. Maybe it's like hunting, she thought. So she got into a hunter's crouch and sprang at Wolf. She then clawed at his face, claws sheathed.

Wolf slipped to the side, tail lashing. “Don’t look at where you’re going to attack!” He meowed. “And do something unexpected, don’t go for the face again. That would be too obvious.” The leap was a bit shabby too, but they could work on it.
