Coalwake sat, his jaw hanging open slightly to catch wind if any odd sc- the hell? The familiar, metallic scent of blood. One would pray someone just had an open wound, but that seemed to not be the case here, the scent was overwhelmingly strong. He couldn’t see who it was, but somebody was evidently dead, just by the scent. Casting a lazy gaze up at Dogbark, he wondered. Wonder what he has to say this time. He truly hated the cat, didn’t want to be included or associated with him at all. Leaving the clan was taking hate to an extreme, he was still loyal.
Wandering over to the side, he caught a glance in the side of his eye of the cat closest to him. He padded over, sitting a safe distance away. “Y’know what he has to say? I’ve not a clue, seems pretty important though.” He was not informed, and most likely no one was, so for most of the clan Aspenstar was still out on her walk with Shiningskies. As he asked the pondering question, he kept his gaze up at Dogbark. The guy looked like he just barely missed a bullet to the head, by the gods, he was so shaken up. Who put a thorn in his nest, eh?

Sagepaw and Rosepaw were nowhere to be seen and they sought out some kind of comfort. Instead, Lotuspaw watched with bated breath. Every second that ticked by them kept track of.
Only when Goldeneyes took a seat next to them it was enough to startle them, forcing them to turn their head towards her. Relief washes over them momentarily, their fixed expression softening. Eyes were wide and watery; their throat is dry, and words fail them at the time, but Lotuspaw moves closer. They read her lips carefully, slowly nodding along. They inhale a deep breath and then exhale. "M..mhm, yeah - Aspenstar she uhm, she doesn't want... , " Their whiskers twitch with sorrow, "It isn't... fair, though, " Lotuspaw says instead. "I don't - I don't wanna cry. I'm tired of crying so much and, and, it doesn't... why? Why is she gone? Why would Starclan take her away ... she's supposed to be a leader, isn't she? It doesn't,, it doesn't make sense,," They lift up a paw to desperately wipe at their eyes.
Goldeneyes is crying and her words are still much a comfort. "I know, you're, a really.. really good uhm, mentor. I know I'm kind of a bad apprentice but I'm really, really glad you're my mentor 'becuz you're really nice n'... " The words die on Lotuspaw's tongue. Goldeneyes was here and they were safe. Right, right. Yet as they began to register her final statement that comfort was taken away from underneath. Instead, was replaced by roaring monsters. The sentiment is nice, truly. They understand Goldeneyes is helping them but now, now? "No, no you .."
Lotuspaw can only think of Goldeneyes' dead body.
They quickly shake their head wildly in denial, quickly pushing away that statement but now tears are falling down their eyes. "T, thank you, tha,,ank you, " Lotuspaw repeats, their eyes darting around now looking everywhere but Goldeneyes. They catch onto Spiderthroat. Signals are going off in their head and they rise up to their paws, pulling away from their mentor's warmth. "Spiderthroat looks, really, uhm, sad, so I'm gonna be a big cat and help him too like.. like you did me and - y, yeah. Uhm, " Lotuspaw sputters out, giving a quick affectionate bump against the molly before prancing away from their issues.
After that, they sped fast at Spiderthroat. He's talking to someone. Yikes. Lotuspaw can't entirely bring their self to pay the other cat any mind. They stop by Spiderthroat's side - take a deep breath because Mama said those were important - and then proceeded to sink into his fluff. Not another word.
Spiderthroat
He hadn't even seen Shiningskies drag the body in, he smelled it before anything. Than the dams broke. A familiar looking warrior ushuring Apprentices aside, a tired...no. A dead, blank expression on the Leader. Former Leader.
Ears twitched as he heard a voice beside him, eyes going from Aspenstar's corpse to a not so familiar face. He didn't have time to remember everyone's names. Truth be told he didn't care to remember everyone's names. With an unimpressed expression he tilted his head towards the corpse. "It's most likely due to Aspenstar over there." he mused. Tail twitching behind him.
Truth be told...he held no sadness, nor did he feel the overwhelming need to mourn her loss. He didn't care. What had she done to help ThunderClan rather than throw out empty promises she couldn't act upon. It was just another body to be added to their morgue.
As he opened his mouth to ask why the other was talking to him, a brown fluff popped into his view. A weight suddenly at his side, pressing into him. His first instinct was to punt whatever it was that was clinging to him. But his muscles froze, brain burst into a sea of shouts and screeches. 'Do not harm the sibling. Baby sibling. Give reassurance. Why baby sad? Baby crying? Comfort.'
Normally, it was unbearable. But in this case, he could clearly see the world around him. Grounded, and quick to recognize who it was that was beside him. Seemingly attempting to melt into his fur. With a huff Spiderthroat simply sat there for a moment, unsure of what to do. How to comfort someone, what would he even say to do that? 'Hey, sorry this leader died, if it's any conselation she sucked?'
After a few moments, the Calico lifted a paw and rested it on Lotuspaw's back. It was a quiet comfort, gentle comfort. Letting the Apprentice know that he was there, that he would help. Unsure of what words to use instead.

Life is full of detours, and roundabout paths
Live as you wish, go ahead and live.
Life, before you realize it, is like an arrow
Let's set off the fireworks of our lives.
Larkstorm jerked awake, her sleep interrupted by Dogbark’s call. What was he doing? It was the middle of the night, or at least close to it. What was sod important it couldn’t wait until morning? Grumbling, she got to her feet and quickly groomed some of the moss out of her fur before joining the stream of warriors leaving the den to go into the clearing. Larkstorm sat down in her usual place, and what she saw shocked her. Dogbark was on the Thunderwillow. Larkstorm had been hoping that Dogbark was just calling the meeting for Aspenstar, but it appeared she had been wrong. Her heart thundering, Larkstorm glanced sharply around. The thudding, stopped, instantly, when she saw Shiningskies, standing beside…no it couldn’t be. Larkstorm’s legs buckled as she fought to stay balanced. “Dogbark what happened?” She yowled.
He glanced down at Mistpaw as the young she-cat hurried over to sit by him and tucked his tail around her. This was... Stars, he couldn't even find the words to describe it.
Ducking his head, he murmured gently in Mistpaw's ear, "You don't have to be out here if you don't want to. No one's going to make you and no one will think any less of you, I promise."
The scuffling and scurrying of his Clanmates around him roused Lynxfuzz from his sleep and he rolled over to scowl, at departing flanks, already irritated by having been awoken. What was so freaking important that he needed to be jarred from pleasant dreams to see? Yawning hugely, Lynxfuzz pushed himself to his paws and followed the ruckus
...Well. That made more sense, actually.
His gaze danced between Aspenstar's body, lying ragged on the ground, and Dogbark, perched atop the Thunderwillow and looking very much a murderer what with the blood smearing his pelt. Of course the deputy hadn't had a paw in this, he didn't have the guts, and of course this was a very unfortunate turn of events, but that didn't mean Lynxfuzz couldn't poke some fun at it a bit. "Don't suppose you had anything to do with this, hmm?" he called up to Dogbark, the smallest hints of a smile playing at his lips.
His own name caught his attention and he turned to see Emberpaw glancing around for him before darting over to Cindersky, and he frowned. Yeah, no, no, that wasn't going to work. Who's apprentice was Emberpaw again? Not Cindersky's, that was for sure. "Emberpaw," he called, beckoning with his tail for her to join him and shooting Cindersky a pointed look, "over here."

It took a while for this to sink in. Rosepaw had at first timely been shocked by the mangled corpse. She was getting some serious flashbacks to seeing her mom lying on that Thunderpath, leaking her insides from the big wounds on her. Then she focuses on the fact that it was Aspenstar. The leader. She felt no real friendship with the cat, if course, she didn't know her well but she did know her to some extent. And death was upsetting. What did this mean?
She looked up to Dogbark. Was he sad too? He looked sad to her. Was...was he the new leader now? Oh dear. That was stressful. She remembered how so many cats seemed to hate him just as much as Aspenstar, despite the fact that, in her mind, he did everything he should and more. She wanted to be there for him she needed to-
Oh.
Oh no.
It was just them now. The three of them. Dogbark, Sundust and her. Against everyone. Rosepaw was suddenly scared. She looked around anxiously. She remembered what Dogbark said.
“And anyone who would dare say anything threatening to you, an apprentice, would have to answer to my claws,”
Was she in danger? Who dud she have by her side?
Her siblings! They were always protecting her. Her eyes desperately scanned the crowd. Sagepaw wasn't found. Lotuspaw...was over there! She just had to go talk to them, surely both needed to stick together. And Lotupaw seemed upset! She needed to comfort them ASAP! The brown and white she-cat headed towards her sibling hurriedly until she saw them dash away from whoever they had been talking to and head...straight into what she considered one of the biggest opposers to her kind.
Oh.
Oh no.
Why was Lotupaw hugging Spiderthroat? He was mean! Did...did Lotupaw make friends with him? Rosepaw stood there, halfway on her route, one paw outstretched awkwardly.
The scuffling and scurrying of his Clanmates around him roused Lynxfuzz from his sleep and he rolled over to scowl, at departing flanks, already irritated by having been awoken. Emberpaw carefully turned her head to expose an eye to look at her mentor, terror gleaming in their amber depths. She wasn't afraid of Lynxfuzz, no, just the entire situation. After not having fully recovered from her panic attack, it was nice to get some comfort. She slowly turned and squeezed between Cindersky's forelegs again and mewed a quiet "Thank you..." Before she took off towards Lynxfuzz, her belly low to the ground. She dashed across the clearing and skidded to a halt next to him, squeezing herself next to him and burrowing into his fur as best she could. "L-L-Lynxfuzz, I-I c-c-couldn't f-find y-y-you..." She borderline sobbed into her Mentor's fur, fear turning her voice into a high, soft squeak.

Chaos chaos chaos... the camp was full of chaos, and it was, what, midnight? WHERE WAS THE SENSE IN THAT?? As the small kit squirmed out of the nursery, they immediately could tell something was off. Pretty much every single cat was out! And...and dad was on the big tree??? HOLY CRAP DAD WAS ON A BIG TREE!! WHOAA!!! Excitement gleamed in their eyes at the sight, blissfully unaware of what horrors lay just through the wall of cats ahead of them. The initial excitement that it felt was a wonderful feeling indeed. Pushing through the crowd of cats, any previous feeling of joy was stripped away from it.
Right there, RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM WAS A CORPSE. WHY WAS THERE A CORPSE. THIS WAS NOT A CORPSE CLAN. OH GOSH, SOMETHING WAS DEAD.
A wail of distress crept up its throat upon the gruesome sight, eyes blowing wide open in fear. It could barely even register the sight, let alone comfort itself over it. Yup, this would lead to childhood trauma. Goodbye innocence, it was nice knowing you. Without a thought, it immediately began to seek out the only cat it could find comfort in at the moment: Dogbark. As it say before, he was up on the big tree. The big scary tree. Gulping loudly, it puffed out its chest to seem more confident, and began to tromp through the snow towards the wide trunk of the tree. Gosh dang it, they were going to climb that dang tree.
It took a while, but eventually the managed to clamber their way up to their comfort cat, immediately plonking down in between his feet and burying their face in his chest fur. It was a comfort place, they found. A place where they could feel like maybe, just maybe, everything was going to be okay, "...Dad? Are you there?" they got out, their normally loud voice lowered to a whisper.
She noticed Bluepaw, and. . .yep, there was those fuzzy, warm emotions, mixed with nervousness, worst thing ever she sweared to Starclan. A nice distraction came when Cindersky came over, and called other apprentices, she had caught onto Lotuspaw's bad hearing but, she noticed something that, scared her. Why did Lotus head over to Spiderthroat, someone who wouldn't hesitate to murder, over Cindersky, a calming warrior? The molly also noticed a terrified kit, why was he so. . .scared, she hadn't known but, that could be for so many reasons.
Before Softpaw could ask what was going on, she caught a stench, a metallic one. . .a familiar one she didn't want to sense. She turned her head to look around, and then, she saw Shiningskies and Ivypaw, and, what was Aspenstar. Nonono, this couldn't be happening, it was too early and Softpaw wasn't ready, she hadn't even made up her mind on if she'd wronged the leader yet, no, no, no, no, no. Anything going on outside of that, horrifying revelation was gone to Softpaw, the only thing going on in her head was the fact that a third leader was dead, well, Buck wasn't dead anymore but, he had died.
Softkit awoke in the nursery, she was tired but, heard yelling at screaming. She went out of the den, her ceremony had been, delayed, but it was fine. Scratch that it very much was not fine, some random cats, another clan she thought, was attacking her own, was this Riverclan? Blood was, everywhere at that point and, she felt uncomfortable, as she heard a warrior telling the kits to follow them, she knew it was the safe thing, she had to get out, away from, this horrifying mess. Oh Starclan please let this end soon
A memory of Softpaw's came flooding back to her, and she didn't like it, not at all, while Softpaw would usually go over to the kit and help them, she wasn't in the emotional state to do so. Actually, to be fair, it's hard to say that she was in the emotional state to be comforted, not even the stars and the moon could make her feel better now. Actually, rewording that, not even her friends and family could make her feel better now, not Cindersky, not, Aspenpaw if he ever somehow returns, not. . .Bluepaw, it all comes full circle, doesn't it?
