He nodded. "Good work." The young tom had good eyes, many apprentices couldn’t see their prey at first and had to have it pointed out to them. Quietly, he slunk down into a hunter’s crouch, signaling Snarlpaw to do the same.

“Now we want to move quickly but cautiously,” he whispered. Though most amphibians weren’t known for their hearing, he felt it was appropriate to keep his voice down. “If it turns around, freeze unless you’re within leaping distance. I’ll show you again how to keep light on your paws, then I want you to try to sneak up on and catch that frog.”

Loonfeather demonstrated how to keep his weight lighter as he stepped, then waited for Snarlpaw to attempt to catch the frog.

Snarlpaw, being a very fast and lean tom, easily balanced his weight and snuck up on the frog. It was still distracted so he was able to leap and kill it.

Dawnstar tipped her head in Honeyfire's direction as he explained how he came upon the kit. With a curl of her lips, she rolls her eyes at the kit. She wasn't going to blame a brat for not figuring out scent marks, but that didn't mean she wanted to take the brat in. "Does it look like I care about your dead family?" Dawnstar questioned without a care in the world.

"Go find some loner to take care of you, or better yet, I'm sure one of the bleeding hearts in the other three clans will take you. I don't need another useless mouth to feed." This kit looked like it would grow to be a pain in Dawnstar's tail. The leader didn't want to deal with them. "Toss her over the bunnies' or the guppies' border, I'm sure one of them will take the hairball in." Dawnstar ordered Honeyfire, she was obviously done with this chat and annoyed with cats just wandering into her territory.

Dawn stared stubbornly at the Shadowclan leader, she didn’t want to join any of the other clans, she liked the pines because the helped conceal her fur color .(which is a dark brown/light brown) Dawn didn’t want to give up but she didn’t know what to do, “I don’t care if you don’t care about my dead family, I don’t want to join the other clans! Sure I may a mangy kit and an annoying one, but I’ll try to be as helpful as possible, please.” The kit begged.


(How are we gonna have dawn join the clan, since we already agreed on this I think?)

The kit didn’t bother to respond as she didn’t want to annoy the tom any farther. She just tried to wriggle free from his grip. Dawn didn’t hiss, she didn’t need to because she meant no harm, she just wanted free so she kept moving herself vigorously to get out of his grip.

The scarred tom seemed to get more and more agitated as the kit tried to squirm from his grip. With low growl the tom dropped the kit. "could you quite your squirming?" he asked with narrowed eyes. "Why do you a kit want to join Shadowclan most cats would rather run to another clan so why's it so important to join Shadowclan?" The tom questioned harshly. His curiosity had pushed him to try and force the kit to explain to him, her reasoning.

He beamed at his apprentice as he padded up to him and meowed, “Well done! You’re turning out to be a natural. Let’s bury this and see if we can find anything else out here.”

Once the frog was properly secured and buried, Loonfeather opened his mouth to draw in the scents of the pine forest. He caught wind of a bird, and motioned for Snarlpaw to follow. As they got closer, a starling came into view. It poked among the pine needles covering the ground, searching for any seeds that may have dropped from the pine cones.

“Alright,” he whispered. “Birds are tricky. If they see you they’ll get startled and fly off while alerting all the other birds in the area. It’s similar to catching the frog though—be quiet and quick. Bite its throat as soon as you can to keep it from making too much noise.”

Snarlpaw slunk across the ground, targeting the bird. But his belly fur rustled a leaf and the winged creature flew away.
