WindClan: Life Before 2023's Fire

Fallownose let out a sigh as he recounted the two names of apprentices he had been given for slacking on their patrol. He had hoped he wouldn't have to punish cats so soon after becoming deputy, but at least this hadn't happened on his first round of patrols. StarClan knows what he would have done then. As it stood, it was only apprentice's who had decided to brush off their duties and not warriors.

"Wispypaw and Bunnypaw, come here. I have been informed by your patrol leaders that you slacked off on the patrol and did not do your part, so you will be punished accordingly. It is important that you take your responsibilities seriously and do your best to support WindClan no matter how boring or difficult times are. Bunnypaw, since you failed a hunting patrol you are tasked with catching two pieces of prey and bringing them back to camp. Wispypaw, you and I will be going out and collecting herbs for Cowpaw so I can make sure Bunnypaw completes her punishment while we're out. Cowpaw, what herbs would you like us to collect?"

Fallownose ended his speech by turning to Cowpaw with a questioning look as he was unsure what the medicine cat needed. He knew that they couldn't possibly be well stocked on everything since the tom had only just become the official medicine cat, but what they needed was beyond him and it wasn't his job to know.

Eldersky slips out of the den Cowpaw kept her holed up in, stretching one limb at a time as she did so. A yawn trembles over her next. And then she's on her way to the side of camp, far from any cat. There, she loafs and observes. She smelled of bitter herbs, and looked like she'd seen better days. Still, the air was lovely in spite of its chill, and sunless sky. Rolling her head back, the queen works out a crick in her neck. Her body ached a bit.


It isn't too long into her sit that she spots an achingly familiar cat- One she had yet to even speak to since he'd come. Her sage green eyes fill a little with light, and she pushes herself to stand up- Wincing almost undetectably- and trots towards wherever Sootflare was. "Hey," she chirps, in spite of the slight congestion in her throat. That would not go away so soon.

Her simple greeting stunned even Eldersky herself, for reasons she didn't want to acknowledge. "Sootflare!"

The tomkit smiled more gently. So, he'd found a shy friend? Oh well, he'd just be less . . . overbearing. Scalekit, right? he asked with a small flick of his tail as he sat down.

Bravebird
Between patrolling and taking walks in the territory, Bravebird had taken a moment to retrieve a smaller rabbit from the prey pile and settle down for a quick bite. Her belly rumbled with hunger as she took small bites, fighting against the urge to rip and tear into the rabbit. That would only lead to potential choking, and she would prefer to remain out of the medicine den for as long as she could.

Upon finishing up her meal, she swiped her tongue over her lips to retrieve any stray pieces, fixing her blue gaze on the entrance of camp. Part of her wonderef if she should take Fernpaw out for another lesson - they had been working a lot together, not that Bravebird minded as she was taking her first time being a mentor seriously.

It appeared that herself and her apprentice were on the same wavelength as she caught sight of a familiar brown pelt approaching her, with Foxpaw in tow. A purr rattled through her flank as she shuffled into a more seated position instead of a lying position, eyes flickering from Fernpaw, to Foxpaw, and back again. "Absolutely!" In a fluid motion Bravebird rose to her paws and shook out her pelt, curling her toes under her in a small stretch. "Are you both ready to head out now?"

The tom smiled a bit brighter. Great! I got your name right! What are you doing over here, all alone? he asked, cocking his head to the side.

scalekit sighs" its bc im shy i want to play with others but im so shy i don't have the nerve to even walk up and say hi to the other kits, that is why i sit alone here" he says to robinkit, @puffball

The tom gave a small knowing smile to his denmate. Let me sit with you? he asked, getting up and gesturing with a large paw to the nest beside Scalekit. He wanted to talk more to the other kit, but the nursery floor wasn't too comfy.
