Juniperkit stared in longing. He should be up there. With his sister, Hazelkit. It wasn’t fair. But his time would come soon enough.

Hazelpaw bounced in excitement as she received her new name. It was slightly dampened by the fact that she hadn't seen Juniperkit in a while, and he wasn't up here with her, but he would come back. She knew it! As she turned to look for this "Rainhound" cat who was supposed to be her mentor, the siamese's eyes locked on a familiar figure.

"Juniperkit! You're back! I knew you would be back! And you made it. I time, I bet Sparrowstar will let you become an apprentice now! HEY SPARROWSTAR! Juniperkit's back! He can become an apprentice now, right??" Hazelpaw called as she looked up at the leader with wide, hopeful blue eyes.

Still no Brightpath. This revelation caused Cloudyflight to sink down farther. Maybe this was just her insecurities, but maybe Brightpaw was avoiding her on purpose. The only time she had seen them was at night, and they never talked. Neither did she. why would she want to bother her love if the lean tortie was trying to distance themselves from her? Maybe her love finally realized that they could do better than Cloudyflight. Her ears flopped back against her skull. That was it, wasn't it? The thing she was most scared of- Brightpath realizing that Cloudyflight wasn't good enough. The tripod was still reeling from Cindersky's death, and now her mate might be falling out of love with her. This was horrible.

"Hi, Brightkit." She slightly squawked, forcing herself to wipe the downcast look from her face- and fast. "I'm... I'm alright." Hopefully the kit wouldn't realize how much of a lie that was. "How are you, Brightkit?" She scooted over so the kitten could sit beside her.

Bumbleflight had been watching from the sidelines as the apprentices walked up, and he cheered their names with a smile, knowing how important such a ceremony was to young kits. As Sparrowstar went on to name their mentors, however, Bumbleflight's eyes widened in disbelief and a twinge of excitement. He was going to be a mentor? Really?! Wow... Well, he'd do his best, even if he was an amateur at being an actual mentor.

Weaving through the crowd, the dark brown and cream tabby went over and sat down in front of his new apprentice, Rainpaw. His shredded ear twitched and he offered his apprentice a small smile, doing his best to contain his own excitement.

"Nice to meet you, Rainpaw. I'll be handling your training, and I promise we'll get you to become a warrior to the best of my abilities," he said. "Think you can keep up?"

Crowkit couldn’t contain his excitement, he was becoming an apprentice at last! But what he didn’t expect was a name change. Was it perhaps because there was already a Crowpaw in ThunderClan? That had to be, he couldn’t find any other plausible reasoning. He was now Rainpaw. But he didn’t mind. It sounded okay, but how would his family react?

Looking around for Bumbleflight, he managed to catch sight of a warrior- or rather, the warrior caught sight of him. Fear overcame him. Not because of the sight of the warrior- but because he was an apprentice. A cat on his way to becoming a warrior. He had sort of become a natural fighter, having participated in play-fights with his siblings and wining, but the aspect of being able to participate in real battles (should they ever come) frightened him.

“H-hi,” he squeaked rather unexpectedly. “S-sorry, I suppose I’m j-just nervous… hehe.” Gathering his courage at Bumbleflight’s question, the tom added a nod, “Yes!”

He played it off as well as he could, hoping his fear would soon turn to excitement. It had to, right? And then it hit him- his Clanmates were cheering the new apprentices’ names. His name. It felt weird to hear his as Rainpaw, and even gave him a sort of headache. Hearing the cheers of so many warriors, apprentices, elders, kits, and others was honestly overwhelming. But Cr-Rainpaw wouldn’t let it bother him. Not yet, anyway.

Deciding to ignore the cheers from his Clanmates, he looked for his littermates and his parents. They were cheering too, and Rainpaw couldn’t contain his excitement enough to stop himself from waving his tail in thanks.

Mapleleaf looked cheerfully at ThunderClan, her eyes resting on the new apprentices. All she could do was cheer alongside her denmates and other ThunderClan companions. Her heart swelled with pride, even though none of the new apprentices were hers. Speaking of apprentices that weren’t hers, she was a little upset that she would no longer help Flamepaw train. But glad for her, nonetheless.

“Crocuspaw! Rainpaw! Hazelpaw!” She yowled at the top of her lunges, wincing with a little pain from her belly.

Flamepaw smiled brightly at the aspect of new denmates. Of course they wouldn’t be denmates for too long, she had her warrior ceremony coming up in the next couple moons. But for the first time in her life, the apprentice pushed the thought of her warrior ceremony out of her head. Her friend’s son was becoming an apprentice. It puzzled her that Rainpaw’s littermates weren’t joining in on the ceremony, but Flamepaw was sure that his littermates would come soon.

“Crocuspaw! Rainpaw! Hazelpaw!” She yowled beside her Clanmates, adding a bit of a clap with her tail against the dirt, hoping she wasn’t flying any toward her Clanmates. And then she looked around for Sparkflower. She half expected to have Mapleleaf as her mentor, but happy she got a permanent one. Where’s Sparkflower?

Darkpetal understood what Ashpaw was saying and he nodded. “I promise I’ll be the best mentor I can be,” he vowed,”And that you’ll become a warrior as soon as you can.”

Ashpaw suppressed a sigh of relief when Darkpetal showed understanding of the situation. "Thank you, I won't let you down!" with a big smile he sat down beside his mentor and tried to focus on Sparrowstar's words, even if his mind was still filled with a new promise of hope. I can't wait to receive my warrior name! I wonder what Sparrowstar will choose.

The first announcement regarded two kits receiving their apprentice name. Ashpaw didn't know them, but everyone could clearly see how much the two were excited and truly happy. Surprisingly, one of the new mentors was Bumbleflight! His friend was finally getting an apprentice of his own, after all. He waited for the new pair to touch noses and then walked toward them. The creamy brown warrior looked radiant. "Bumblefligtht! Congrats, I can see that you're making much progress!" he said, purring with real pleasure. "I'm sure that you'll be a wonderful mentor, you taught me so well and were always available to help out other cats."

He turned to Rainpaw, a little dark brown tom that looked very similar to Bumbleflight. "And, of course, congrats to you too. I've learnt a lot from your new mentor, and I'm sure you will do it too. You can trust him." Ashpaw was sure that the pair would do well, but he reminded himself to check up on them some time. I look forward to hear how Bumbleflight will do!

It seems that today was a wonderful day for good news. Finally the clearing was full with cheerful chattering, and the apprentices' den was very full and ready to bring new warriors to Thunderclan. But, glancing at Sparrowstar, Ashpaw had the impression that their leader had other on her mind. Maybe she's thinking about the newcomer? He doesn't seem bad after all. He abandoned the thought with a lash of his tail, and at the right moment he joined the rest of the clan to chant the new names: "Rainpaw! Hazelpaw! Crocuspaw!"

Darkpetal was smiling when the kits got their apprentice names and mentors. He noticed Bumbleflight among them. Ashpaw mentioned that the cream-furred Tom had helped him with his hunting, and Darkpetal’s apprentice seemed happy, causing a sense of trust over Bumbleflight. He was happy that a trustworthy cat would be responsible for one of the new warriors. “Congratulations,” Darkpetal purred kindly.

Petalbee having nothing better to do at the moment followed after her clanmate. "Hey Thunderblaze wait up!" The Molly called out trotting over.

Mudsplash's austere gaze met Crocus...paw's own. Their tail flicked as they thought, observing the sire's tense and frozen stance. Were they really THAT intimidating? Stars above, Mudsplash wasn't going to bite! Yet, anyways.

With a polite nod towards Sparrowstar, Mud would shuffle over to their new apprentice, the awkward atmosphere trailing with them. OK, so Mud mayyy or may not have gotten ready to fight the other, but now that they knew he wasn't a threat, they wouldn't hurt him.

"I won't bite," Mud teased, lightly bumping his shoulder with their own. "I'm sorry about earlier. Just because that happened, doesn't mean we can't start over, right?" (hopefully, anyway..)

Mud continued watching their leader curiously, thoughts flooding their brain. They've never mentored an apprentice before... what if they messed something up? Were they even ready to teach someone else? They had enough problems just taking care of themself... could they really do the same for him? With a shudder, Mudsplash kept their ears pivoted to their new apprentice, doubt stabbing it's sharp talons into Mud's pelt.
