ThunderClan: Life Before 2023's Sinkhole

Lowering her hackles slightly as the outsider spoke, Sparrowstar watched each of his movements with a calculating stare before responding.

"And what do you have to offer Thunderclan 'Orca'," she stated, voice cold as she rolled the odd name out of her mouth like a questionable bite of prey. "I can't let just anyone waltz right into my clan without reason."

he hadnt thought about that, staying silent for a moment, all of the things he could say slipping from his mind (this is me not knowing what to say-)

Padding into the nursery, the tan she-cat placed Woodkit gently onto an open nest before glancing around the den. Small mewls and fresh milk-scent filled the air, but no fretting queens looking for their lost kits seemed to be present much to her chagrin.

"Quailfur, Darkmoon, Rainfall, Appleworm, Speckledwing, Icepelt, Crimsonstep, Streamtail and Hollyhum!" Sparrowstar called out, keeping her voice level so as not to scare any of the kits bumbling about but speaking clearly to avoid any of Thunderclan's queens missing what she had to say. "This-" Her tail flicked to Woodkit. "Is the third kit I've had to bring back to camp in the last moon and is becoming an issue that I can no longer ignore."

Settling onto her haunches, Sparrowstar let her tail flick from side-to-side behind her. While the Queens deserved a good reprimanding, she could at least offer her tail up as a play-thing for the kits to bat around while she did so.

"Either you all aren't paying enough attention to Thunderclan's kits, you have failed to inform them of the basic rules of camp, or there's a secret hole in here that has evaded every cat's notice excluding your little ones. Please tell me; which of these options is it?"

The tiny tom was still blind and deaf to the world. He knew nothing more than the scent of milk, moss, and cats that smelled like him. Thats why when a scent that was too strong for him wandered in, his nose scrunched. The smell was of... well, he didn't know yet but it was woods, tree sap, all of the things he would explore in a few moons time. He sneezed at the new smell and mewed to show his discontent before trying to burrow next to his mother - the milk scent. The scent was too close to him so he swatted lazily at it, hoping it would go away.

~ Rainfall had been grooming her three kits before looking up seeing Sparrowstar enter the nursery. Was it another rogue attack? Rainfall curled her tail around her kits as she listened to Sparrowstar speak about how kits have been getting out of camp. How was that possible seeing how there seemed to be enough queens in the nursery and warriors out in the clearing. Rainfall looked down at Galekit just to make sure nothing too serious was wrong with her son before looking up at Sparrowflight.

"I don't have any idea but I will keep better look out of any future kits trying to leave, Sparrowstar"

And that was a genuine promise, Rainfall couldnt imagine what she would have done if any of her kits got out and gone missing and possibly hurt in the process. ~

Speckledwing raised his head at the leader's entry, "I'm not sure, Sparrowstar. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, still, I wouldn't be exactly surprised if there's a secret hole somewhere, I can check if you'd like", she got to his feet with a little difficulty.

Quailfur was found idly resting in the back of the nursery with her kits, yawning as she rested her chin onto her paws. She watched her kits from a distance, but she knew that they were big enough to know what to do. Not being made apprentices alongside their brother might have made a huge toll on their hearts. Especially Rainpaw. While the rest of their littermates wished for Quietkit to come back in shape, the whole family must've had heavy hearts for a while. She grimanced as she rolled over to lay on her side.

She jolted to look up at the familiar tan she-cat who was Sparrowstar. She never knew that the leader would visit the nursery at this time. She repositioned herself to seem regal. She saw Woodkit right below the leader. As she listened carefully, her muscles tensed. Kits were going missing much more often than when a leaf were to fall from the trees. Of course since leaf-fall was arriving quite soon.

Listening to Sparrowstar, her gaze was strict as she mewed."The secret hole would be the best option Sparrowstar, but if it's not then we leave that guilt entirely on us queens. Being sure to try to keep the kits safe to the best of our abilites" She pledged for the rest of the queens. Though she knew that most of the kits in the nursery were to be without parents, as the queens have their own matters to attend to. Such as their biological kits - or even the ones they have adopted as their own. With having to experience a missing kit of her own, who might no longer be in the living world anymore. She realized she had to step up her game even more than before, to make sure that Lavenderkit and Fallowkit were not to sneak out like the rest.

She turned her gaze towards her two kits, calling for them from afar.

"Lavenderkit and Fallowkit! Could you two please come here? And don't bother Sparrowstar. She's here for serious matters." She exclaimed. Flicking her tail against her back.

At least Thrushfur seemed content, and seemed to be feeling better after that chat. Perhaps he'd have to check in occasionally with them to make sure everything is going well.

"Training has been going splendidly. We’ve finished with tail signals and now are heading onto battle training. Weaselpaw seems to be a natural and a quick-learner at those things. I see potential in him becoming a great warrior." He purred, Weaselpaw did have the intellectual capacity for most things. Even he was a bit surprised to see how smart Weaselpaw was. Though Thrushfur had some doubt in some areas that Weaselpaw would have to work on. But the apprentice was surely to become great in no time. He flicked his tail as he continued on.

"And with that, we talked about the Thunderclan fire while on a territory tour. And with some.. personal matters." He blinked, blue eyes were kept strictly on the young warrior. Though he couldn’t even compare to those senior warriors. He hasn’t even hit the 40 moon mark yet.

Bumbleflight listened in as Thrushfur went on to talk about Weaselpaw. Well, it certainly seemed like they were having progress. And fast progress, too. Well, Bumbleflight preferred to take take his time, so it would be a bit before Rainpaw could reach Weaselpaw's level, but that was fine. For now, they'd take their training any way they could. After all, it was better to take theit time rather than rush things.

Wriggling out of those thoughts, the dark brown tabby noticed Thrushfur looking at him intently, and he blinked at the other warrior. Had he done something wrong? Did Thrushfur need to tell him something? Or was he just staring aimlessly, lost in thought, and his eyes happened to land on Bumbleflight? Whatever it was, it made the young warrior feel a bit flustered under the sudden spotlight. So, he tilted his head towards Thrushfur, as if asking him what was wrong.

Asterdance was curled up in their nest, snoring softly. They were dreaming of fishes jumping through the water, their scales shining in the sunlight. Perfect for a meal as oh, they had skills now. They had knowledge. It would be a feast. However, the dream was snapped away when they were softly nudged. It was enough to make Asterdance jolt away, eyes wide with surprise.

Their gaze fell to .. Mistheart's mouth, nodding in response. An herb patrol? Really? "Comin', comin', " They mewed, trailing after the fellow warrior. They stretched their limbs before shaking their fur, padding up to the entrance. "What do we need to get, anyway?" Asterdance asked, tilting their head. "Oh wait, yeah, we can also get going. You can explain on the way, " They added on, gotta be time-efficient... snrf..

man, they were so SLEEPY.

The tom padded back into camp, satisfied with his patrol. It had put him in a rare good mood.

He could see Sundust seemingly organizing herb patrols. Copperfire decides to wait for the patrols he assigned further away from the crowd, multiple groups of cats would just get confusing and Sundust has been a medicine cat longer than he's been deputy, which would put the other higher in respect than him, Copperfire thinks. Probably best to stay out of his way.

He sits down to wait and idly grooms his thinning pelt.
