WindClan: Life Before 2023's Fire

Honey’Freckle hunted, unable to wait any longer for her partner who was supposed to be on this hunting patrol. Not that it’s much of a patrol anymore, though.. She spotted a bird and, going closer, saw that it was a swallow. She took a deep breath, and did what she had been taught countless moons ago for hunting birds.

She put the bird’s carcass in a crack just big enough for it to fit, and continued to look for more prey.

(OOC: I asked @/NinjaBloss if I should go on without my partner since they haven’t responded to me in the patrol place and the deadline is soon, and they said to do it by myself and report their absence to Fallen’Nose, so that’s why she’s alone.)

Ashkit was very excited to become an apprentice and she barely contained her excitement when Twilightstar called apron her and some other kits.

Snowypaw

From his secluded corner by the camp's entrance, Snowypaw's mismatched brows raised high in surprise. He was vaguely aware of some of the kit's names, having been in the nursery with them when they were much younger. Had it really been so long that these kits were ready to be apprentices already?

His surprise at the kit's stepping forward to receive their apprentice names aside, he couldn't help but be impressed by the vast number of kits being promoted today. Seven. He remembered the day he had been apprenticed. It had been only him and Berrypaw standing at the front, although Badgerpaw and Ivypaw had been given mentors as well, having just joined WindClan from the outside themselves. A purr escaped him as memories of days gone by flowed through him, fondly recalling the moment he had been assigned Deadmoon as his mentor.

Staring at the clearing beneath Breezerock as the kits padded forward, his eyes shined with excitement. The apprentice's den would soon become quite crowded, that was true. But with any luck, perhaps the gentle giant would finally find a friend or two who could put up with his... constant blunders. Maybe someone who wasn't in such obvious discomfort whenever he was around, like poor Specklepaw. Twitching his ear nervously at this last thought, he shifted his paws uncomfortably on the ground, clearing his throat before properly focusing on the leader once more.

"From this day forth until you receive your warrior names you'll be known as Ashpaw [ @Ashcloud of WindClan ], Milkpaw [ @Wingnettle ], Firepaw [ @Darkclaws ], Leafpaw, Sunpaw, [ @The Vast ], Doepaw, and Moonpaw [ @cloudy sky]." A touch of pride gleamed in the leader's single eye as WindClan gained seven new apprentices. Now, whether they all managed to finish their training or not will be the biggest test. Twilightstar never thought the apprentice training was all that difficult, but all cats moved at different paces she supposes. Alright, mentors.

"Deertrot [ @SplashyLumi ], you will be responsible for Milkpaw's training."

"Pinestrike [ @RiztheHuntress ], I trust you can take care of training Firepaw."

"Doepaw, your mentor is Wolffeather [ @Gay'Fluff ]."

"Rookscreech [ @Shade.], you've been here long enough and it's about time you've trained an apprentice of your own. Sunpaw is yours."

"Leafpaw, your mentor is Pouncestone [ @Ritsuka ]."

"Moonpaw, you'll be training with Wildstep [ @Caspian ]." Twilightstar finished, hoping that new mentors and apprentices will be able to do what so few seemed capable of and actually finish their training. WindClan could always do with the honor of new warriors.

"Midnightpaw [ @Fierce Roses ], and Mushroompaw [ @Fawnhearted ]. You two are the only ones in need of new mentors. Midnightpaw, I'll have Leopardsong take over your training, and Nightheart [ @CreeperLover649 ], you'll be taking over as Mushroompaw's mentor."

After the reassignment was finished and the apprentices and mentors had met and touched noises, Twilightstar moved on to the next topic. "Lilypaw [~Silvershine~], it's time for your warrior ceremony." The leader called the apprentice up without losing that glint of pride in her green eyes. She knew the she-cat had gone through quite an ordeal, but she didn't see why that should stop her from getting her ceremony done. Once the apprentice had taken her place underneath the rock, Twilightstar started the ceremony off. "Lilypaw, do you promise to protect and serve WindClan even at the cost of your life?"

Lynxkit purred when Twilightstar said that he could come to her if he ever needed to talk. His heart swelled with gratitude, it was so nice to know he had someone to count on. He knew he could trust Twilightstar. I’ll always miss Maplecloud, but I love that I have Twilightstar now. He thought about Twilightstar’s answer, wanting to answer as truthfully as he could. “Well,” He meowed after a pause, I guess I think of it as cats deciding to leave the Clan. They get sick, or get injuries, or just become tired of life. Usually it’s the elders that get tired of life I think. My dad Emberfoot got an injury. My mom Gingercloud got tired of life. It if me.” Lynxkit frowned. He never understood why Gingercloud had left him. He had never got the chance to ask her, of course. He wished he could have. And they go to the Clan in the night sky. Right? StarClan? The Clan that Cowpaw talked to in his dreams, if Lynxkit remembered correctly.

Wildstep blinked in surprise, I got an apprentice!? He thought, Wildstep didn’t say a word, he just smiled as he looked at his new apprentice @cloudy sky

Pouncestone looked up silently in surprise. He was a mentor now? Huh... Well, hopefully he'd be a good one. After all, this was his first apprentice. Standing up, the dark ginger and brown tabby scanned the clearing for his new apprentice, tail moving idly behind him.

Nightheart's mouth hung open for a few seconds. She was a mentor. To Mushroompaw. Quickly she padded over to the apprentice. "hey Mushroompaw!" She smiled. "Guess I'll be your new mentor!" The black she-cat meowed.

Twilightstar left her den as she heard the commotion going on outside. The leader flattened her ears briefly as she heard that one of their apprentices was injured and a warrior dead. Fallownose was already on the scene, so she came a little slower. The leader caught the end tail of what was being said and frowned to herself. "Fallownose, why don't help get Lilypaw to the medicine cat's den with Ashclaw, if she is well enough see if she's willing to tell you what happened." The leader would have preferred she be taken straight there the moment Ashclaw arrived, but she understood he was clearly not in the greatest state right now. "I'll take care of burying Ravencloud in Juniper Rest." Twilightstar waited a moment to see if anyone had anything to say. Yet another death to announce at the next clan meeting, it would be nice if WindClan could go one moon without losing someone.

Wolffeather blinked. They got an apprentice? Sighing they did a quick glance around for their new apprentice. Although he'd leave actallully talking to the cat till the meeting was over. Licking her paw she listened as an apprentice, Lilypaw was her name, warrior ceremony came up. It wouldn't be Lilypaw much longer. He thought, watching the meeting process with a hint of intrest.
