She went into the next room Clara had pointed to, but froze when she saw it. The body. Laying by the opening, motionless- and very much dead. Halfheart shook herself. Food. She looked around for anything that remotely resembled what her people ate when she was a kitten. There! Up in the hollow area, some person food bags were sitting, dusty but intact. Halfheart looked around for a safe way to get up there. Up white thing... Across that, then there! she thought, then did it. She climbed up the white stone thing, which smelled disgusting, then ran across the top of a shelf on the wall. She reached down, snagged the bags on her sharp claws, and pulled them up two at a time. There were five in total, and the good news was that she could carry them all at the same time. Halfheart climbed back down, and returned to Clara.

Clara reached under her bed as Halfheart ran off and pulled out the remains of her favorite stuffed animal: a rabbit that was destroyed. One ear was gone, it's bottom legs were gone, and it had lost so much stuffing, it brought tears to her eyes. She held the stuffed bunny close to her chest, lying down, letting her tears come out. She started crying, turning over to her right side so she was facing the wall, and didn't notice Halfheart returning as the girl held her dear stuff animal, wishing she wasn't alone. I want my parents! I want my friends! Where are they!?

When the double-tabby she-cat jumped back on the nest-thing, Clara was crying.... She snuggled under the girl's arm, her eyes wide. She purr-purred hopefully.

As she held her stuffed bunny, eyes closed, tears falling from them, her despair and loneliness coming out in heart-breaking sobs, Clara felt something warm and furry snuggle under her arm. Her blue eyes opened and saw Halfheart under her arm, purring. She smiled faintly, resting one hand on the cat's head, the other still holding the rabbit in her arms. Clara pulled Halfheart to her chest with the destroyed stuffed bunny-rabbit and cried even harder, her tears staining the double-tabby's fur. After about two minutes, Clara seemed to settle down, her body relaxing, until she had fallen asleep, chest rising and falling evenly, loose tears falling from her face. Her grip on both Halfheart and the wreaked stuffed rabbit went weak.

Halfheart was careful not to wake Clara as she looked above her. When she did, she saw not the usual grey and white sky, but a looming monstrosity, lighting up with green sparks. It was huge, and a dark... blueish grey?

Halfheart was careful not to wake Clara as she looked above her. When she did, she saw not the usual grey and white sky, but a looming monstrosity, lighting up with green sparks. It was huge, and a dark... blueish grey?

-- The clouds were growing thinner. The rumble of thunder grew even louder and a drop of water fell onto Clara's head, waking her up. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, yawning and stretching. The water hit her again had she looked up. The sky was... still cloudy. However, the water became more... "RAIN!!!" Clara screamed, leaping up and running outside. It had begun to rain. For the first time in over 10 years. Clara fell to her knees, spreading her arms and holding her hands to the sky as the clouds thickened and the rain came down harder, lightning striking in the sky. The rain soaked the girl from head to toe, but she didn't care. --
