Oriolepaw didn’t stop running until he was out of breath. He hoped Flameheart wouldn’t follow; the last thing the apprentice wanted was to have to get disciplined a second time or be told that he was a terrible apprentice. Would Sparrowstar let him become a warrior if he’d only seen one of the borders? He hoped so. That would spare him from having to finish this tour with Flameheart.

Sitting down to catch his breath, the orange-and-black tom focused on the layer of decaying leaves under his paws to try to calm himself down.

For a heartbeat he thought he had upset Berryclaw, but soon he had relaxed and Duckfluff relaxed with him. He smiled wide as Berryclaw bowled him over. He didn’t let him per say, but it wasn’t like he was using all his strength. He knew his opponent wouldn’t either. It was just a bit of fun! “Oof! I think I feel a little mouse on my stomach! He teased. He swiped up at his brother. “Back you beast!” He giggled. Leave it to his brother to make a boring day fun!

For a heartbeat he thought he had upset Berryclaw, but soon he had relaxed and Duckfluff relaxed with him. He smiled wide as Berryclaw bowled him over. Berryclaw growled with fake annoyance. But his smaller size did bother him a bit and he didn't like being picked on because of it. He batted at his brothers head. "Im not a mouse." He grunted, but his tone was still light.

Why was this cat asking her about her feelings? This wasn’t something that she was remotely used to conversing about, and even then it was built up of incomprehensible thoughts and words shared with someone who already knew exactly what had happened. Someone who had been through it all as well. How was she supposed to answer any questions about it without going all out on Firepetal, who did not realize exactly what she was signing up for. She looked up at the warrior, green eyes reflecting the hurricane of thoughts rushing through her head. “It was bad then, but I’m fine now. Sometimes I just get annoyed.” That was a really bad summary, but for now it was all she could provide.

Firepetal smiled, blinking slowly.”I understand!” she meowed happily. “We all have our troubles don’t we?” the she-cat looked up into the sky then looked back and smiled. “Let’s hunt, shall we?”

He wasn’t very good on picking up other cat’s emotions. So he took Berryclaw’s comment to be playful. His whiskers twitched at his attack. Flicking his tail back and forth as he, again batted at him. This time with both paws around his ears. “Whatever you say little brother!” He grinned at his pun. My wasn’t he hilarious? He bunched up his back paws and kicked up at Berryclaw’s stomach, halfheartedly. He was getting a bit tired of being pinned down. He’d ruin his coat faster than a rabbit could run! He wouldn’t want to admit that though, so he kept his usual play fight strength.

Berryclaw hopped off his brother. "Duckfluff, I like playing with you, but can we act a bit like we're warriors in our 20's not single digit moon old kits and apprentices?" He asked. "You know I'm self concious about my size.." He muttered, standing up next to Duckfluff, making the size difference visible.

Well, she was glad that was over. Also maybe a tad happy that she had been able to clear it up. It wasn't Firepetals fault that she was a bit grumpy all the time. But perhaps she could just relax for a bit, complete their goal of successful hunting. Yeah, that'd be nice. "Alright." Foxpaw smiled lightly at the warrior and began to look for some scent of prey or something else. "How have you been recently?" Small talk attempt part two. She might as well get used to it before it was too late. An awkward overly opinionated adult was not what she wanted to be after her assessment. Yes, some practice might be good.

He didn’t believe the whole warrior spiel for a heartbeat. Duckfluff had never acted his age. That part shouldn’t come as a surprise to Berryclaw. Oh there it is. The size thing again. How could he had been so stupid? He should have know. Guilt filled his stomach. Some brother he was. “You’re right. I’m sorry. You aren’t a mouse, at all! You’re- you’re much much heavier!” Duckfluff tried. He wasn’t very good at this kind of thing. He touched his nose to Berryclaw’s ear briefly, hoping the gesture would convey the sentiment he couldn’t find the words to explain. Honestly Duckfluff how could you have over looked this?
