She knew it was an unrealistic fantasy of hers; a confidant who shared her ideals and name and everything else she had gone through who would stay by her and she wouldn't have to be afraid of being left in the dust.

And as Foxflurry was named, it sunk into the apprentice just how unreal those thoughts were. She was the only one left now. Bumblebreak had told her that taking her name and moving on had been living, and now Cinderpaw felt lifeless.

Quietly, she pressed against the kitten at her side. Honeykit had to be comforted or something. She had no idea what, but it absolutely was not for her, no. Quickly the leader moved on and rattled off a string of announcements. Flameheart the keeper, ugh. The more time went on, the more distaste she had for the rank -- it felt more like they were there to keep them in a perfect little line then actually help.

Sharpeye's naming made her want to throw up. Dammit. Dammit. What had happened to him? How could an apprentice have gotten injuries so gruesome? Why hadn't she noticed sooner? She braced herself against the ground, feeling dizzy.

And... a new deputy. Thrushfur. An uncomfortable pit formed in her stomach. Wasn't he... Rainpaw's dad? She had seen the apprentice storm away just a few minutes earlier, and thought back to what he'd told her about his upbringing. She... she had to just be jumping to conclusions. He hadn't told her about anything bad his father had said against him... but Cinderpaw was still unsettled.

As Cinderpaw turned and shuffled away from the crowd, she couldn't shake the feeling she was watching it all fall apart again.

Honeykit
She/Her

For once, Honeykit was being entirely obedient. She was sitting silently beside Cinderpaw, reveling and relishing the fact that the older she-cat hadn't pushed her away when she'd stumbled over and sat down next to her. As the meeting wore on, Honeykit barely bothered to pay attention, head lolling to the side with drowsiness. Only when she felt the warm press of a pelt against hers did Honeykit really give into the sleep, snuggling into Cinderpaw's coat with a happy murmur. "Galey was right, you really are the best big sister."

[feel free to put your next post at sunkissed creek!]

Foxflurry lifted her head from where she had been dropping prey, and walked briskly towards the medicine cat. Alright, so it was her and the other one. "Alright, let's go." She nodded quickly at Hailhawk before brushing past him and out into the trees. She didn't have anything against the tom, but there wasn't anything going for him in her terms. Then again, there were only like, four cats who fell within her good graces, so it was better to just stay out of the way. Ginger striped tail flicked as she stepped out of camp and made her way towards Sunkissed Creek. What was the likelihood of them finding something in leaf-bare? She honestly didn't know, but it was certainly lower than usual.

@Kat
@littlelove
[no need to respond!]

She had done it. After moons and moons and moons of waiting around, and watching others take their places in the ranks of a warrior, she had finally made it. There was so much she wanted to say, so much she wanted to be able to let each and every know. Tell them thank you, but looking around, there were still the figures of the past she wished could see her now. She had made it, and they hadn't, but hey, if they were up in Starclan, watching and waiting, maybe they would be proud of her, but she wasn't doing this for them anymore. For herself, yes, but also for all the others, the ones who needed it. She would protect them from harm.

She smiled back at Sparrowstar, before turning around and walking back towards the crowd. The voice of one of those she was thinking of caused her to look back at Hazelpaw. A nod in her direction and a widening of her smile as she acknowledged her words. They were so young, so bright, so fun. Hazelpaw. Pebblepaw. Goldenpaw. They deserved to make it through life, and she would make sure they did. Foxflurry's gaze traveled next to Flameheart, with a small, mouthed 'thank you.' She couldn't hear what else was happening, ignoring Sparrowstar, the slight shock at what had finally been achieved keeping her from focusing on her words.

Brightpath. Whitewolf. Cindersky. She had failed them when they were alive, but she would prove that she was different now. That she was someone to be proud of. She would show that she wasn't lazy, or wouldn't freeze up, that she wasn't useless. Foxflurry would prove it all, yet she couldn't help but whisper a quiet thank you to them, allowing the words to float to wherever they were now. They never may have known the impact they had on her life, but she would never forget them, and even if they couldn't recall them, they were important to her. No matter how small the interactions were. "Thank you."

Going to take her place back by the entrance of the apprentices den, she stopped abruptly, the smile wiping off her face as she turned.

Cinderpaw.

Where was she? Her eyes caught those of the grey agouti and the kit nestled against her fur. It was a quick approach, weaving through the mess of cats to reach her. There was an unintelligible expression on the other cats face, something that neither deterred her or sent her forwards. Pulling up short from her near sprint, Foxflurry smiled lightly at Cinderpaw. "Hi." This was just the beginning of all of this. She would prove that she could change, and if she didn't want to she would do it for her friend. Yeah, that's what they were, right? Friends? "Don't worry." She remained standing. "I won’t forget." She kept moving through the camp, past the kit, who was given a small smile, and out of the clearing.
That was a promise.

[Foxflurry has left the meeting]

She looked over the light-colored she-cat that had emerged from the den. This must be Sparrowstar... and she put together that this cat must be some sort of leader by the way Blackfir turned to her and gave her the basic rundown of everything. Is my future to be decided by this cat I've never met before? Her head cocked ever so slightly as she tried to puzzle it all together. Blackfir had told her things about the clans but it was never much. They didn't talk much about all of the workings of things, whether that had been by design on his part or he simply had other things he'd rather have talked about, Petal never asked many questions and was content to simply listen. She walked past Blackfir, keeping the tom in her peripherals, her head lowered but her green eyes looking up at the leader. "My name..." she started quietly. She wasn't much used to her own voice but was acutely aware of how quiet she was and what sort of impression that was likely to give so she swallowed and tried to project her voice, "Petal. My name's Petal." She held Sparrowstar's gaze as she thought over the second question. "I do not know why we came. I was only following Delphic. I knew of the smells of your...what do you call it? Borders? So I knew when we were walking it. Her attacks never made any sense but this time..." She was aware of the unconscious switch of her eyes from the leader towards Blackfir though she kept her head straight and switched back quickly. "My loyalties never lied with her." Loyalties... Why was that a word that felt like it had some significance here? Had she ever truly felt this loyalty? Certainly not towards Delphic. Maybe she'd come close with Beetle but he was...she didn't want to think about Beetle now. He'd helped her but she felt little towards him. She wasn't sure what she felt towards Blackfir but he was the closest to a friend she'd ever experienced. "I am here now because I have spent all of the life I know fighting to survive. I am looking for somewhere to go and I bring good skills. I can fight and I am a good hunter." Her throat felt scratchy from overuse but if there ever was a time to speak up she figured it was now or never.
One brow cocked upwards ever so slightly as "Petal" identified herself and asked to join Thunderclan. The somewhat... familiar look she shared with Blackfir was also noted, and her brown tailtip twitched thoughtfully behind her as she considered this outsiders tale.

"And you assisted this 'Delphic' with other attacks against the clans?" she questioned, stepping forward slightly towards the unfamiliar molly. "While you may hold certain skills necessary for clan life, those can be taught. Honesty and loyalty are not so easily imparted to cats who choose to act against them. You say your loyalties never lay with that cat, but where DO they lie Petal?"

Green eyes locked intently onto the stranger's matching gaze as she awaited her answer (and whether or not her warrior would jump back into the conversation).

Logically, he didn't believe anything bad would happen to him here, at least not as bad as what happened at the ShadowClan border. Only one out of the three cats he had met had tried to seriously injure him, so it seemed the odds of encountering a tolerable cat were better than the chance of finding a mean one? Then again, this sample was so small he couldn't be sure that he did not just get lucky with Junie and Orchidbriar. Orchidbriar had made ThunderClan out to be a nice place, and she herself was rather friendly, if a bit off-putting. Ro wondered if he was off-putting. Maybe that's why Junie acted the way she did when they met; maybe he unsettled her. If so, that made him appreciate her kindness all the more.

He crossed the border. The limp in his leg had grown more pronounced over the days as his wound had grown more swollen. It didn't look good. He didn't feel good. Hopefully ThunderClan - if it was as kind and pleasant as Orchidbriar had described - would be able to help. Help was a funny word - had he ever helped anyone? There was that one time he offered to help Junie catch crickets. Helping seemed like a nice thing to do; he couldn't pinpoint exactly why, but it seemed natural, and he supposed most other cats felt the same way. That was a nice thought - that everyone had the natural inclination to help.

He wasn't sure how deep in the territory he should go; he had now learned that crossing borders was a not-so-good-thing, but he wanted to be found. He decided to compromise (both not wanting to go too deep into the territory, and not wanting to continue walking on his injured leg any longer than he had too) and stopped and awkward tree-length or so away from the
border.

[ @Jayvines ]
Sparrowstar's daily patrol seemed to have located an unfamiliar straggler paused just inside of her border. Taking a moment to observe the seemingly hesitant outsider as she peered out from the underbrush, the tan molly gave them a brief once-over. They seemed to be injured... and not particularly threatening.

Deciding against simply chasing the stranger off, Sparrowstar audibly pushed her way through the brush she had hidden behind so as not to surprise them too much.

"You are on Thunderclan territory," she stated, voice clear as she approached the unfamiliar cat with a hardened look. "State your business or make your way elsewhere."

Stars above, another one?

The telltale sounds of a kit playing in a nearby clearing immediately caught the attention of Thunderclan's leader as she was returning to camp from her morning run. Upon her approach, it (thankfully) seemed that Reedkit was no worse for wear after his escape from the nursery.

"Reedkit!" Sparrowstar called out, tone stern as she approached the young tom. "Where in Silverpelt have you been? Your queen was looking everywhere for you."

It was terribly hard to keep a stern look as this little ball of fluff frolicked around with the occasional leaf... Stars, that was cute...

"Or Sparrowstar, if the idea strikes your fancy."

The strong tone of the approaching tan molly echoed out over the area as she made her way towards the trio. Green eyes glanced between the three cats before landing on Morningkit with a stern look.

"Morningkit. You know you aren't allowed outside of camp, and this is EXACTLY why," she started, tail twitching behind her as she spoke. "You are incredibly lucky that Featherclaw was able to find and protect you from what you encountered."

A brief nod of respect was given to the other returning cat before she continued.

"You are going to be confined to the nursery and kit learning area for the next moon; I don't want to see you outside of those areas unless you are accompanied by Streamtail, do you understand?"

The sudden appearance of Beastwatcher was certainly an unexpected encounter. Blinking slightly as the tom launched into a lengthy apology, Sparrowstar listened politely before opening her jaws to respond.

"Beastwatcher," she started, tone slightly reprimanding as she spoke. "You are a warrior of Thunderclan. I am not asking for perfection in all your actions, however what I am asking for is effort. Running away from your problems is merely pushing them away instead of facing them."

"I had told you that your only punishment was to replace the herbs that Sundust ended up using to fix your mistake; a small task in the grand scheme of things. Featherclaw heard a voice. A familiar one. Sparrowstar? It was Sparrowstar. She stayed still as Sparrowstar gave Morningkit a stern talking-to, and was taken aback when Sparrowstar dipped her head in respect. To Featherclaw. To goofy, laid back Featherclaw. Don’t make too much of it! She’s just thanking you for protecting Morningkit.

Morningkit stared at Sparrowstar, her golden orbs rounded with guilt. “I’m sorry Ms Sparrow…” she meowed guiltily,”I understand…”

Romulus (Ro) | he/him | 9 moons

The young tom’s ears flicked towards the bushes as a rustling came from them, and a cat emerged: a stern looking she-cat who most certainly was not Orchidbriar, which he supposed he should have expected. Orchidbriar had said there were hundreds of cats in ThunderClan, so of course the chances were that he would run into someone he didn’t know.

The feline’s words made Ro flinch back just a tad; her tone was firm, not harsh, but he didn’t quite know the difference between the two yet, and his last experience still had him on edge. Maybe he shouldn’t have crossed the border. He hadn’t expected to be questioned so immediately, and his thoughts scattered like frightened birds. Oh, but he needed talk or he might have to find somewhere else for help, and he didn’t know where else he could go for help, and he wished Orchidbriar was here even though he didn’t know her well because she was nice and he was certain that she knew this cat who wasn’t-nice-but-wasn’t-mean.

“I need.. help. I think.” His words were cautious. “Do you know Orchidbriar?” Maybe if she knew that he knew Orchidbriar then his words would have more credit? That seemed to be how.. what would the word be? Reputations? That seemed to be how reputations worked. But then again, how would he know? He’d never had a reputation before. “She said that ThunderClan was… nice. And I thought they could help me.”

Quietpaw quickly shook her head as Sharpeye attempted to get up, taking a step forward to try and help, since she was pretty sure that putting pressure on his broken legs would be painful, and would most likely make the injury worse.

ReedKit

He nearly leaped out of his fur in surprise and spun around to
face the one and only SparrowStar. His eye's widened but his
smile didn't falter, "I saw the older apprentices head out here!
They seemed like they were gonna have fun!
" He squeaked
keeping his cheery tone, despite SparrowStar's stern one. "I
just wanted to watch but they seemed too big for me to keep
up 'SpayrowStar!'
" He tried to properly use her name but with
hardly hearing and only watching the older cat he never learned
how to say her name correctly.

He then looked at the leaf and crouched down, "But they got
down like this and..
" He got into an off-balanced and hind-up
crouch then faltered forward trying to swat at the leaf again.
"And they disappeared behind the bushes! They were so cool!"
He chirped eagerly. Then faced her, "You come to take me
back?
" He said with a raised brow but he still smiled.

Sparrowstar's gaze softened as Squirreltail began to speak. Blazekit was certainly at the forefront of her mind these days; him and other cats who wouldn't necessarily be able to preform traditional warrior duties.

"It is never 'dumb' to wish to help a clanmate," she stated, tail curling around her paws as she spoke. "While I don't think clawing the dirt would be effective for teaching ( OOC: cats are not permitted to draw/write things in RP ), I have considered pointing him towards a more camp-oriented role."

Pausing for a moment, the tan molly collected her thoughts before continuing.

"I have spoken with Mallowheart about adding an additional 'Camp Care' class to the kit curriculum, and I believe that perhaps Blazekit, and other cats like him would be able to learn a few basic tasks to help the clan instead. Although he cannot see or hear, I am sure he has an exceptional nose and working paws. Caring for the prey pile and pulling out old nests could be a good point to start him out with after he gains some guidance from Mallowheart about those tasks."

"If you are interested in helping to develop his skills, I would implore you to act as a guide of sorts for Blazekit during this first class. If he is able to grasp certain concepts by you leading him to and from different scents, then perhaps he will be made your apprentice. He will be a very special case; are you sure you can handle it?"

MallowHeart thought for a second, then worry filled her face… “I-I’d need help then because BlazeKit isn’t able to hear or see me- how- how do I teach-“ she took a deep breath… MallowHearts eyes meet again with SparrowStar’s… “SparrowStar, you’ve seen and heard quite a bit about disabilities in your time… How could I teach BlazeKit if he can’t hear or see me?” MallowHeart asks softly… “Perhaps a lesson on how to communicate with one’s that cannot hear or see us might be good too…”
This was not an easy problem to solve... Thankfully she had a solid pawful of cats who had expressed interest in helping this young tom develop into the best version of himself he could be.

"Squirreltail may be able to help when he is in your class," she started, nose twitching as she mulled this over. "I expect scents are going to be the best way for him to learn, so changing nests and sniffing out bad prey should be the first places we point him in."

"While... communicating with him in a traditional sense may not be possible, I am currently unsure of the best way to direct him other than having a personal guide or mentor that acts as his eyes and ears; nudging him in the right directions, offering touches of encouragement, and other such things... I'm afraid we are going to have to work this one out as we go."

She shuffled from paw to paw, seemingly desperate to be doing anything but this. "I know-- I know I said earlier, about how they all gotta g-grow up too fast, n' I still think they do. But... It do-doesn't feel like anyone's really helpin' that. They're still expected to fe-fend for themselves most a' the time, w-whether that just be with amusing themselves or... worse." The apprentice muttered, looking anywhere but Sparrowstar's face. "I w-wish I did, but I don't have eyes ev-everywhere. If they get into any danger, I want 'em... to know how to defend t-themselves. Self defense classes are what I'm getting at."

Cinderpaw's voice was low and carried a nervous tone, almost as if she didn't want to be heard by anyone else. "I still do-con't trust the warriors here to do m-much. You saw, at the gathering, with the w-weasel kid pokin' at Galekit and Honeykit -- Stormclaw, the guy who showed up? Th-Threatened to go tell Dawnstripe what was happening." She could feel her fur stand on end -- hopefully, the leader could glean why she was so terrified of the idea. "A-And now he's offering 'imself as an ed-educator. Same thing with Darkpetal. Sootfur told me h-he hardly did any training with him, while he was an apprentice. With cats like that doin' tr-training, it doesn't feel right to just leave them defenseless."

The temptation to untense her body and begin shaking like a leaf was there, but she resisted it. The tabby shook her head, and attempted to snuff the little quiver in her voice. "So, uh. I wa-wanna do self defense classes. Where to h-hit if someone's got you pinned, what parts of the body are most important to cover... they c-can even go claws-out on me if they need a dummy. I can take it, but they can't. Figured I s-should ask before starting a baby fight club... I hate the id-idea of it, but it's gotta happen."

If 5 moons was old enough for them to die, it was old enough for them to learn how to defend themselves... right?

Self defence classes huh... Not a bad idea. As Cinderpaw expounded on her reasonings, she found herself more open to the idea. It definitely wouldn't hurt for their kits to know some basic defenses; nose scratches, how to run away, best places to hide...

She was so caught up in mulling over possibilities, that she almost missed the faux pas of Cinderpaw's insult towards Dawnstar... Almost.

Green eyes immediately zeroed in on the young molly as she finished her explanation.

"First of all, you are welcome to start a self-defense class. Nothing to extreme, but emergency hiding spots, how to swat at a bad cat, and other such things are perfectly acceptable. However," adjusting her sitting position ever so slightly, a slight frown creased her muzzle. "Cinderpaw, we need to talk about your use of Dawnstar's warrior name."

Huffing a sigh, she tilted her head at her apprentice as she continued.

"You are more than welcome to hate Dawnstar; I myself only act civil towards the foxheart when duty calls for it, but openly disrespecting her like that can only lead to unnecessary issues for you and Thunderclan as a whole."

"While I am loath to say it, she is a cat of efficiency and has gained her leadership status through hard work just like the rest of the clan leaders. That garners at least the respect to use her Starclan-given name. Do you understand?"

She had thought Sparrowstar would be at least sympathetic, sadly she was wrong.
Frowning slightly as the returned queen left, Sparrowstar made a mental note to keep an eye on her. Queens were expected to perform certain duties, so if Streamtail wasn't actively completing those duties she'd have to call her in for a talk...

Despite the conflicted feelings, Sparrowstar had managed to calm her nerves with the simple wording Sootfur had said to her before. To her surprise, the tan and brown she-cat was far from upset with her. Now able to move on from the horror she committed with some peace, she listened intently as Sparrowstar brought up Mossyflower's punishment.

The punishment Flameheart chose for her Clanmate was fitting, which brought more relief to the young she-cat. "Would you like me to tell Creamcloud you'd like her to get checked out by Sundust?" Flameheart knew that Sparrowstar was busy these days, but she wasn't entirely sure if it was her place to tell Creamcloud something that could change her life forever, as much as she'd like to so her Clanmates could remain safe.

Moving onto the topic of Foxpaw and her assessment, Flameheart's eyes glimmered with pride and anticipation. The next meeting was around the corner, and so far, each meeting involved an apprentice's promotion. That's something Flameheart would like to keep seeing. "Yes, she's ready."

The next two topics were very important. Right... kit's need to be taught responsibility. And I need to report Oriolepaw's injury... "I'd like to bring up an idea I had about kits being taught responsibility... It came to me when I was training Poppypaw. I think it would benefit ThunderClan for many moons. Both warriors and apprentices could teach them chores such as tick removal and exchanging bedding. I was hoping to see if it would be something you'd like kits to learn?"

After Sparrowstar responded, Flameheart twitched her whiskers and smoothed out the fur on her belly before moving on to discuss Oriolepaw. "Mistyflight also came to me for help with Oriolepaw. She led me to the Mossy Den, where Oriolepaw was lying injured. He didn't seem too bad, just what looked to be a broken bone. I can't be sure, since I'm not a medicine cat, but he was telling us both how much pain he was in. He's being tended to by Sundust now. He had hunted an owl, too... I grabbed it and put it in the fresh-kill pile for him. Should feed a few Clanmates."
"Yes please, if you could send her to the medicine den when you next see her I would greatly appreciate it."

Her smile widened as Flameheart confirmed Foxpaw's status, and she gave a short nod.

"Good, I shall take care of that during our next meeting. As for your kit training suggestion, it seems that you are alligned with Mallowheart's recent suggestion of a Camp Care class for kits. If you would like to bring your suggestions for her to add to her class, I'm sure she'd be more than happy to work them in."

The news about Oriolepaw was shocking to say the least, but she was grateful that the situation had at least been dealt with swiftly.

"Thank you for assisting him," she stated, blinking as she ran through the details of the incident. "Catching an owl is no small feat. I expect his hunt had something to do with how he was injured... Perhaps his catch could be shared between him and some of the apprentices. He deserves to sample the fruits of his labour, and I expect those feathers would line quite a few nests."
