Dapple(Paw?)

The dappled shecat padded through unfimiliar territory. As she passed by the trees, she smelled a scent she thought she reconized. She shrugged. Must be my head getting to me. as she padded deeper, the scent of cats filled her nose. She stopped. She fluffed up her fur, hiding how scrawny she was

As the noise became louder, she soon found herself face to face with a familiar cat face. She smoothed down her fur. "I-is this ThunderClan?" She asked. Suddenly, what was once blurry memories became clear. She was standing in a den with a gray she-cat. The next memory overtook her. A dark brown shecat was standing in a clearing. Just as the last one came, her eyes widened. There were cats chanting her name. She could hear them clearly this time. Dapplepaw, Dapplepaw.

As her eyes opened, she was plunged back into reality. She stared at the cat again. She slowed her breathing. "I'm home" She breathed. She looked up at the cat again, her eyes gleaming with longing. "I-i think my name-" She took a breath. "Is Dapplepaw."

She had been called dapple for as long as she can remember. Her mother Clear had taken her to the Twolegplace when she was young, where she had lived as a rouge for many moons. Her mother, Clear had died due to greencough. She wandered the forest as a loner after her mother's death. She had nightmares, with memories that had been unreachable until now.

Sootfur run up ahead, toward the Thunderclan camp, Icewing at his heels. How could I let this happen?! He scolded himself for having lost track of time. The snow landscape was so new and enchanting, he'd been distracted for some time.

Luckily, it had taken just a bit of time to retrieve his prey. Now he was at the entrance of the camp, scanning the clearing to find Bumblebreak. He hoped Icewing was behind him, because if he'd lost her... But she's more experienced than me. I'm sure she'll catch up soon.

Sootfur trotted up to the fresh kill pile and left one pigeon and one mouse on it; belly growling, he ignored the hunger but could not put aside the worry for the clanmate he'd left behind.
The gray tabby found Bumblebreak and approached her gingerly, dreading the Keeper's reaction at Sootfur and Icewing's lateness.

IceWing paced right behind, tail up. She dropped her mouse in the fresh kill pile then went to meet BumbleBreak to report back. “Patrol went great! I taught sootfur how to use snow to his advantage while hunting!”

Turning away from whatever she had been doing, she nodded to both Sootfur and Icewing. "Thanks, guys, much appreciated. Looks like you had a decent outing. I'll let Sparrowstar know."

Harefire padded into camp and dropped his catch of three or four mice onto the freshkill pile. He looked around until he found Bumblebreak. "Bumblebreak," he mewed, "I finished the hunting patrol, although Tallshadow did not show up."

An ear flicked in irritation at the news of Tallshadow's absence; some cats were just desperate to be useless, she supposed. "Looks like you did well enough on your own, though. Appreciate it, Harefire, you're good to go."

With a smooth but somewhat speedier walk, Mistylight padded back to camp and looked around for Bumblebreak. "The patrol to the Windclan border went well; no issues and the border was remarked by Embertalon and myself." Now to the part that she was less proud over, and she could feel the calm smile melt away from her face. "However, Dawnpaw didn't follow us. I'm not sure if they want back to camp or just wandered off, they were behind us, but not with us when we arrived at the border. I'll be going back to look for them, but I wanted to report first." A polite little dip of her head to the Keeper.

Ooo, Mistylight was back. Good, she'd been counting on the other warrior to pull through, and dipped her head in response. "No trouble other than Dawnpaw's absence, I hope. Feel free to do whatever you think is best; I'll be letting Sparrowstar know either way."

Well. Out of the six patrols Bumblebreak had assigned, only four had reported back (not including her own, they had been done quickly enough), and it seemed that several cats thought it was a good idea to slack off.

That was seriously irritating. With one last glance around the clearing, and then a roll of her eyes when it appeared that no one else was coming, she turned to head to the leader's den.

With what seemed like a blatant disregard for basic manners, but was really just a need to rip some idiots a new one indirectly because they 100% WERE IDIOTS, Bumblebreak shouldered her way into Sparrowstar's den and stopped in the entrance.

"Hey, so some of our Clanmates really don't wanna do their jobs," she said bluntly. "I sent Harefire and Tallshadow to Giant's Rest to hunt, and Tallshadow didn't even bother to show up; Harefire ended up doing it all by himself.

"Mistylight, Dawnpaw, and Embertalon were supposed to go out and check on the WindClan border, but apparently Dawnpaw vanished halfway through and hasn't turned up yet. I think Mistylight's gonna go look for 'em.

"Quailfur and Vixenpaw went out to Firefly Cove, but they didn't even bother to report back. I don't even know if they made it in the first place."

She scowled. "Dunno what you or Thrushfur wanna do about it, but there's an issue."

Things in camp were quiet. Too quiet for Egretkit’s tastes - everyone was being lazy.. LAZYBUTTS. That was the word. Mhmm, lazybutts! And she wouldn’t stand for that.

Stomping her way to the middle of the clearing, the silver kit puffed out her chest. She was gonna be seen. She stood up tall once she reached the middle, and began babbling. “‘SCUSE-“ she broke off to clear her throat, then started again: “’SCUSE ME!! Why is everyone bein’ lazybutts !!” Heheh, that was a good word. “I wan’ uhhhh,” shoot, who did she know?

“BUMBLY!” That was the first name to come to mind. “Yeah, I wan’ Bumblybreak!! And…” She squinted, peering around the clearing for her next victim. “Youuuuu!! Fox.. uh.” What was her name?? She just got a new one, which was heckin’ confusing! “Foxflurry!” Egretkit jabbed a paw in the new warrior’s direction. One more. “Last one issssssss.” A purr started rumbling in her chest, like a drumroll. Completely coincidental of course - she didn’t know what a drumroll is, silly! “Rain.. uh person.” What, was she supposed to know everyone’s names? Oh, and one more surprise!! “ME!! I’m on the patrol too!” Oh wait - did she say this was a patrol yet? “YEAH!! This is a patrol, like Mr. Sunshine an’ Birdman send out! ‘Cause everyone’s sittin’ on their butts!! But I’m not! So we’re goin’ on patrol!” She stamped her little feet to punctuate her declaration. Let’s see someone tell her off for sending out a patrol! She’ll send them on one next! She’ll make them get,, uh….. moss! And something gross! And something pretty for her!

Bumblebreak curled up in a shady corner of camp, a miniature snowdrift cushioning her head as she napped. Lately she'd been pretty exhausted; unsure as to why, but a few extra winks of naptime never hurt anyone, right?

Her ear twitched as someone called her name, and she let her eyes drift open to try to find the culprit.

The culprit was a kit. A kit calling patrols.

That was just about the cutest thing she'd ever seen.

With a harsh shake of her pelt, Bumblebreak got to her feet and headed over, whiskers twitching in amusement. "Yo, did we get a new deputy already?" she called out. "You already seem ten times better than Thrushfur. Look at you, on top of patrols!" Of course that was all in good fun, she hadn't seen enough of Thrushfur to actually hold any sort of opinion, good or bad.

Bumblebreak craned her neck, pretending to look intensely for her "patrolmates". "You said it was me, Foxflurry, and Rain...person?" She assumed that was Rainfall??? "Oh, and YOU, of course. Where are we headed, patrol leader?"

Lilylight looked around and saw Willowlight. She trotted over and sat down next too them. "Hi Willowlight, you doing good?" She questioned, wrapping her tail around her paws.

Pebblepaw - who had been up to something mischievous (rolling around on the ground and dirtying her black and white pelt) - was not happy. What the heck! Why was a kit calling patrols? What happened to the deputy? What was his name again? Brushbur? Nah... wait- what was I upset about again? OH YA!

The young apprentice sat up and glared at Egretkit. "You can't do that!" That's for mister deputy to do! And besides, if you really are allowed to call out patrols, put me on one!" Who did this kid think they were? And WHY was Bumblebreak acting like it was the cutest thing ever? Pebblepaw was cute too! Why wasn't she getting attention?

The track back home had felt miles longer than usual, and when finally entering the camp, Mistylight could feel tiredness pull at her to just go to her nest and sleep. Usually, her evening walks weren't quite this stressful or involved so much running. But if she was tired she couldn't even begin to imagine how drained Oriole must be feeling. He shouldn't have been outside alone, especially this late, but hunting, then being injured so badly he couldn't even stand up without basically fainting, and then having to deal with even more stress and worry than she probably must have really taken a toll on the younger cat.

So she wasted no time heading for the medicine den, still with the young apprentice on her back, and softly called for Sundust, hoping the tom hadn't gone to sleep yet. "It's Oriolepaw, I found him by Mossy den. He fell while hunting a bird and says he can't stand up without that leg hurting-" a little gesture towards the leg with her tail "- and him almost passing out because of it." She quickly ran down everything Oriolepaw had said to her or shown so that the apprentice wouldn't need to waste energy speaking.
"Where should I place him?" She asked, and followed the orders given.

Is there anything else I can do?" she asked before remembering Flameheart. "You must be tired as well. If you can probably go to sleep now (you must have a long day in front of you as such a hard-working Keeper)." If needed, she would stay to handle any tasks left, Flameheart had helped more than enough.
