"Carrotkit, you can come over here with me." The large tom mews softly, shielding the small kit from Acornkit's sharp claws before he hisses at the smaller kit.
"Go or I will tell the leader about you." He growls.
"And there it was, this beast of legend. Its fangs dripping white onto the hard stone." In a mimicry of a beast, Sunstride's maw opens, his body dropped low to a hunter's crouch though he does not stray too close to the youngsters that listen. "Even in the dark, you could see its shadow. It seemed so great, so mighty, that it must swallow the whole cave! You could not begin to imagine it. The sheer power of it, its fur rippling like water. Its voice was an avalanche, a growl that rattled our very bones." His pacing has taken a predator's stride, low and strong with cunning eyes. He circles the kittens, savage mirth simmering at how they turn to watch him as if he was the beast– they could not trust him at their back, lest his fur turn to shadow and his voice drop to a shaking rumble. Never would he hurt them, but that they have lost this knowledge speaks only to his skill at storytelling. One that the warrior leans into without shame.
“It snapped as it stirred, the very ground quaking beneath its might. Its great maw could have taken us whole. Standing beneath it, we were nothing more than prey." He leaves the brave one to continue his pacing, and only at the end of this circuit does his beastly demeanor fade into that of a warrior once more. "Were it not for the bravery of my companion, it might have been the end of us. He swiped at its nose, the red of its blood blooming like flowers from the earth." Sunstride swipes at the beast himself, his claws glinting as they slam back into the ground. "It roared, the likes of which you have never heard. Louder than these monsters that roam your lands, or the dogs that howl to the moon. And as it pulled away from my friend's fearless claws, we had just enough time to escape."
Pale eyes glimmer with the life of his story, the joy of memory casting its own light from his face. "But do not be afraid. This was many moons ago, and rather far away– though it lives, it should not come to hunt you. But I have heard of these beasts and their wandering. They walk far, and hunger immensely. Do not be afraid, but...be wary. And if you should hear the sound of its snoring in the dark, like pebbles that stir to a dance, do not follow. You may not be so lucky as I."
[ Open to kits who are brave enough! ]
Mudkit gasped. "WHAT HAPPENED NEXT! WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!" He jumped up and down.
The cream-colored tom made his way to the entrance of Sparrowstar’s den. He wasn’t quite sure how this would go! He had never just walked up to the leader directly. It felt strange. He shifted his weight from paw to paw. The memory of how his first class had ended still hung heavy in his mind. Seeing Cherrykit like broke his heart. He was sure it had been short lived, but even still. This had to be done. He was sure Glowkit’s parents would feel the same way. Some things just weren’t for kits ears, no matter how much you sugar-coated them. It was up to him to give the feedback required to make his class a good place for learning. It was his duty! That’s what he had agreed to when he had volunteered for this position. Cats were counting on him. Kits even! “Sparrowstar? Do you have a moment?” He meowed before entering. An uncharacteristically somber expression had fallen over his face like a cloud. For all his antics, this was important. It was business! And kits were involved. His kits were involved. So he kept his tone and posture professional. Even if it felt and looked a little unnatural. He didn’t know Sparrowstar well, and he didn’t want her to write him off. Not that she would, just it was better to be on the safer side.
Acornkit chuckled. After chasing Alderstep all around camp, she knew the best places to hide. Liiike- She hid under the corner in the apprentice den. Giggling to herself that nobody will EVER find her.
Hailhawk looked around the edges of the warriors den first, looking in cracks and broken parts, where a kit could fit, but he couldn't find her. He then went to look by the nursery

Curled up for a brief catnap, Sparrowstar had just begun to doze when a small paw prodded into her side. Cracking one green eyes open, the tan molly turned her head slightly to see what young cat had snuck into her den today... Oh, Lambkit was it?... She thought so at least. And it seemed like he was practicing his stalking techniques.
A rumbling hum echoed out of her chest as she stretched out in her nest to readjust after the surprise poking.
"Hmmmm... who has poked me I wonder," she hummed, slowly rolling over to give the kit ample time to react. "Was it a little mouse? Or perhaps a twig?"
Concealing her own delight at her sudden idea for a game, Sparrowstar exaggerated each of her movements as she stretched one paw over the side of her nest.

~ The monster is awake! Lambkit's eyes widened once he heard the hum from the beast in the nest. Oh no, it was moving! The curly furred tom quickly moved out of the way of the paw- I mean claws of the monster. If the monster got him then mama would be sad.. he didnt know about his brothers though- Nevermind that!
"I'm not a mouse! or a stick!"
No use in staying quiet due to the monster already knowing he was there. ~

She shook her head then turned a thankful expression towards dragonfly’ash. Her tired face looked even more exhausted than usual. As always she shuffled her small paws in the nursery’s floor then decided to acknowledge the prey he had brought her. I’m very grateful for this she mewed calmly but a twinge of stress was ebbed into it. Now acorn kit please stay away from carrotkit..and please be quiet some cats are trying to sleep you little mouse-brain
The tired she cat waved off the cats as they disappeared out the thicket entrance. Before long she found herself curled up in her nest enjoying a unique story by sunstride. She took a bite of the prey before throwing out a teasing joke. Are you sure that the monster isn’t you in your sleep? I seem to remember hearing such a beast making a noise at night from the warriors den. she laughed a bit. Her small body round and plump but still extremely comforting and fluffy. @Cupidity

The she cat purred in amusement.well I’ve certainly heard such a beast snoring in the den. turning her head slightly to the side she indicated that he could join her. After waiting for a moment she offered some of her prey to him. Have you eaten yet? It’s no bother I’m not very hungry at the minute. her voice was as friendly as ever.
